The Amazing Spider-Man J Jonah Jameson in the Reboot

From what I've personally gathered:

Spoiler alert ahead!

>
Peter gets into an argument with Ben at the Parker household. Peter runs off into the city. Ben chases after him on foot. Peter is hiding out on the underside of a bridge. Ben sees someone who he thinks is Peter in an alley of sorts. It turns out to be a burglar/mugger. Ben is shot. Peter hears a gunshot, follows the sound into said alleyway and finds his Uncle either dying or already dead on the ground

So it's not the same as Raimi's trilogy. No worries.

And deviates from the actual comic storyline as well though.

It's just speculation. I'm sure they'll connect the burglar to Peter in some way. Even if they don't, I'll be satisfied. Raimi already tore that page out of the comic so you have to differentiate a bit.

Pretty much. We've seen set pictures of Garfield/a stuntman fighting the same burglar. Now if this if the confrontation is straight after Ben's death, it might draw some comparisons from the Raimi's Spider-Man, I'm hoping for something like Spidey spending the following few days keeping an eye out for the same burglar, then he goes after him.

Or, maybe the burglar could become a much more direct motivation for Peter to become Spider-man. He could spend some time (months) fighting crime until finally accidently running into the burglar. Thus, we could understand that, as now a more professional crime fghter, he understand that the burglar has to be imprisoned rather than die. Besides, if everything goes accordingly to the previously stated scenario, Peter will be barely feel the fault for Ben, as he hadn't seen the burglar before. In previous interpretations, Pete had a chance to stop the burglar, but refused. Here, it doesn't seem like that (unless Peter meets the burglar way before Ben's death). Either way, I agree that Peter has to be established as Spider-man first and only then be able to confront the burglar again. This will be more rational, as by the time he becomes a crime fighter, he understands that murder is not what is to be done with people like the burglar.

I'll bet that Peter bumps into the burglar while running from Ben. Maybe Pete witnesses him robbing or mugging someone else and ignores it in order to hide from Ben? Maybe?

As for JJ being kept out of TASM 1. Good. Gives us something to look forward to in TASM 2 with new characters and side arcs.

I wouldn't leave out this option either.

Something similar to this happened in the Ultimate comics, I think it's after one of his wrestling matches. He was walking home and there was this guy mugging a small diner or something, he sees him and the owners ask him to help. Peter's in too much of a rage to bother, he just walks past.

Maybe Peter simply has a job delivering the paper? Could give us a look at some of the headlines?

To my mind, this ^^ is a great idea, especially as a guy in high school could quite plausibly have a paper round, whereas a kid being a freelance photographer is slightly more far-fetched.

Maybe, after a couple of early adventures as Spider-Man, we get a scene of Peter picking up his papers to deliver and looking at the classic 'Hero or Menace?' type of headline. It's plausible that JJJ would be mentioned at some point when Peter is around The Bugle building, maybe even show him briefly, and it could plant the seed for the sequel(s)

The more I think about it, the more I'm fine with JJJ not being in this film, imo. For this movie, Peter may not even want a job or be looking since he's still in high school and it makes more sense that he'll want a job when he's in college and I assume TAS-M 2 will have Peter moving off to college and then finding a job at the Daily Bugle.

So I just saw a State Farm commercial for Avengers and I remember there was one for First Class. Does anyone know if they will do one for this. Because it would be awesome if JK Simmons at least does a homage of JJJ.

I know it's very unlikely, but I still wish that if they use JJJ in the sequel, they would use JK Simmons again...
I mean, Alfred's actor wasn't replaced for Batman Forever, it could work

Bryan Cranston for JJJ.

Though I also think he would make a PHENOMENAL Norman Osborn.

Batman Forever took place in the same continuity (hence Chase Meridian's reference to Catwoman).

It's no tragedy as some people make it sound like. He doesn't have to appear in the very first movie!

I don't see any problem with Jameson not being present, but I am disappointed that it seems they won't use this movie to elaborate on Parker's time in show biz, which I believe was before Parker worked for Jameson.
I think it's kind of important for Parker's 'Amazing Spider-man' persona to originate as a means of entertainment. Spider-man kind of reflected the marketing approach of his own (Stan Lee's) comics, he's a self promoting spectacle. The bright suit and the spider gimmick worked as attention grabbing tactics for his act. When he begins his crime fighting 'career' he carries over this persona and attempts to gain recognition from the public in a new way, but he still has the self promoting sideshow quality of regularly saying his name and referring to his spider-strength/agility etc, aswell as advertising himself with symbols and catch phrases (friendly neighborhood spider-man).

So yeah, I would've liked to see a few scenes with a cocky Spider-man lifting cars in the street at request and climbing walls for a cheering crowd, eventually being approached by a manager and doing gigs. Could've been fun.

Also a fantastic four reference to indicate the presence of other heroes would make Parker's decision to fight crime seem more natural. In the first book Spider-man goes straight to the fantastic four building, but maybe showing it in the background would be good enough.

And when people do complain about J. Jonah Jameson not being in this film but being in the first film of Raimi's trilogy, they seem oblivious to the fact that JJJ and the Daily Bugle only showed up once Peter graduated whereas in this film, Peter stays in high school, lol.

People complain just to complain.
