They'd better. :woot:

It'll look outright ridiculous but I can see a variation of it. Something like General Zod in MAN OF STEEL or something like that. He's probably gonna be some weird, twisted, mental dude if he's gonna have a weird haircut like that.

Everyone except me it seemed loathed the idea of Vulture being the main villain for Homecoming, but it's a testament to what a great design, great actor, and great writing can do to change perceptions.

There were a few of us pulling for the Vulture from the start. Especially after we heard it'd be villains we hadn't seen before.

I will admit, I wanted Mysterio last movie, LOL! But for unused villain, my 3 then were Mysterio, Vulture, and Kraven. So I was still happy with the pick, LOL! So I was always for him being the villain.

It depends on what they execute. If they go full "camp" or full Red Skull type execution, yeah, you might get the classic costume straight from the comics. But Red Skull worked because it was a nice blend of period-style esque execution with a layer of sci-fi/campiness. Also, they made the necessary changes TO Vulture which went along with his aesthetic choices. That's the way Marvel Studios adapts most of their characters..
A comic accurate Mysterio costume would work because that's effect that Quentin Beck is trying to achieve. Do you know why Vulture looked the way he did? Because Toomes was more concerned with function rather than aesthetic. Mysterio is the exact opposite, his costume is PART of his character. Him looking a little goofy and a little fantastical/comic booky is the entire point of his gimmick as a villain. He's, quite literally- movie monster. All of those ideas being suggested about a Daft Punk-esque helmet, his suit being from a Astronaut suit etc are missing the point.

Marvel Studios you you say? I don't think so. Vulure was very much the exception to the rule in being a much more grounded, gritty redesign. Hela from Ragnarok was pulled straight from the comics, so was Thanos, Ronan, Ego, the Black Order, Loki, Crossbones, Winter Soldier and now Ghost from Ant-man & the Wasp. Vulture was definitely one of the more radical redesigns of the MCU but again, it made sense for his character and the backstory they created for the character. Again, function over form for Toomes and his crew. Mysterio should not have the same thought proccess applied to his design because he's a completely different type of character. You can't put every single character into the same box.

Yeah, and I'd love Kraven asap after.

Now Kraven for part 3.They should give Kraven a Black Panther necklace that gives him a lion suit, and he takes the heart shape flower serum, and steals a spear from one of Black Panther's body guards.

This idea I don't hate. But I think they're building to the S6 for film 3.

That's what I thought as I watched BP. Having Kraven somehow tied to Wakanda made sense.

Given the MCU's humor, I think Ock should have the Evil Genius coffee mug;

I would geek out big time for that.

:otto:

I 100% think that is what they're doing.

Makes you wonder. Variety confirmed yesterday that Marvel is searching for another A-list male actor and we've heard from Hashtag that it's a villain. Maybe that's who they're searching for right now, Doc Ock/ aka Master Planner. He's pulling the strings behind this whole thing

Can you link me to the variety article that says that part? Because if that is the case, then I agree. They're likely looking either for Ock or the final member of the S6. We can assume Vulture, Shocker, and Scorpion are in. Mysterio as well. I am guessing Ock is the man behind the curtain, leaving 1 more spot. They could always introduce them here, too.

No prob:
Plot details are still unknown at this time, but sources say Marvel and Sony, who will co-produce the film, were looking to cast a new male and female lead, with the desire for the male lead to be played by an A-list actor.*Actresses for the female role, which is expected to be someone in her 20s, are currently being auditioned by execs.

Male lead could be a villain. But in this context, it could also be a much younger version of Jameson or Uncle Ben. Another thing Mysterio can be good for: for Peter to see his Uncle and face his death. Homecoming didn't focus on Ben, but maybe this one will. Mysterio has used the death of Uncle Ben in his plans before.

I would say we're either looking for a 2nd/new villain or Uncle Ben for that other lead. My guess is Ock will be cast if this play out like I think it will before the 3rd film, and I am not sure Jameson would be a lead in this.

Right, but we did hear this same news a few months ago from Hashtag show except they gave us more info. They said the male one was a villain role so I'm guessing that's what we're hearing now.

But it would be interesting if it was Jameson or Uncle Ben. Especially Uncle Ben.. Mysterio could torture Peter with visions of Ben which has happened in the comics before, as you said. That could make the fight between Peter and Mysterio very personal

You made my point for me there. The Toomes we got looked the way he did because of what you just said. I get what you're saying--that Mysterio is this and that, but what they did to Toomes (taking a disgruntled electronics engineer who wants revenge on his business partner and making him what we got), they might do to Beck as well. Why? Maybe that theatrical crazy guy might not translate well. There's a reason why Toomes and his partner Gregory didn't show up and they didn't show Gregory stealing his profits, etc. I will say Spider-Man's villains in particular, as cool as they are and as cool as they look, don't ever translate that well to screen. Just sayin' not to expect full on camp with Mysterio. There's always some liberties. Always.

And a lot of the villains you listed are cosmic, which justify a lot of the comic book "goofiness" they had, whether it's their costumes, etc. Crossbones wasn't FULLY like his comic book counterpart aesthetically. That was more post-apocalyptic armor. <--Didn't translate well so had to tweak.

I think that Mysterio should be a physical threat to Spidey in addition to a psychological one, especially with Gyllenhaal who can be physically imposing if the role calls for it. It'd be kinda lame if their conflict ended with a single punch to the fishbowl.
