And for the record, I like Sam Smith, but this is just bad. Its lacking energy, goes on for entirely too long, and his only purpose seems to be to see how high he can makes his voice go.

Sadly, I agree. You described the song perfectly.

It's a dull high pitched ballad that has some nice Bond orchestra music interrupting the dreary warbling 2 or 3 times. I have not heard any of this guys other songs but I wish now Adele had not turned down doing the theme as I loved Skyfall.

There's no momentum in this new theme.

I realy realy hope i'm wrong, but i have a bit of a bad feeling about Spectre, first there were all those problems in it's making inside SONY, the return of Spectre which is aparently made up of the previous all powerful Quantum organization, a Blofeld that's not called Blofeld (like Khan in Into Darkness), a retcon where this new villain is what caused all the other films to happen, the largest run time in any Bond film, and now what i would call the weakest song in all the Craig films.

I say this in a rushed statement after hearing the song for the first time, it might grow on me or sound better in the credits themselves. Hopefuly the backstage problems won't show in the final picture.

But this song is..unpleasant to listen too, and I can't see it being a hit on the radio...unlike Skyfall.

Man what a bore. It just stays flat for 4 minutes. Even adeles "skyfall" had more energy than this.

I think Ed sheeran would have been a good choice too

Made me think of this article:

Sam Smith aims for first ever James Bond number one.

No James Bond theme tune to date has ever reached number one in the charts. Could Sam Smith's Spectre song be the first?

I doubt it, but ya never know. Girls probably love them some Sam Smith. So him crooning on and on...and on about some doomed puppy love might be popular with teenage girls.

They actually did this with Moneypenny. Reveals that aren't reveals for anyone in the story. Its the same thing they did with "Robin John Blake." Yuck.

Completely unrelated side note but I just got done watching Spielberg's Munich for the first time. I had no idea Daniel Craig was in the film. I'm a little baffled that Blond Bond / Aryan Übermensch has been cast as Jewish fighter not just once in Munich but also in Defiance.

I'm trying to think of a Bond tune that I dislike more than this one, and I'm honestly really struggling. Maybe one of the ballady Roger Moore ones? I don't know.

It's very sparse, wasn't it?

Yeah, it's got very little going for it. This sums it up well...

My thoughts exactly.
