Don't love this song. That said, the whole "wrote it in 20 minutes" argument really doesn't bear mentioning.

Some of the best songs of all time were written quickly.

AWTD at least had a beat. Drums. Something to make it pop. And it was mediocre, but not terribly bad like...this.

Damn..still haven't heard it yet. At work. Now I'm not so keen to get home...:csad:

I feel like I got suckered in with the fake advertisement of the 15 second preview. I was expecting the song to have more of that score throughout, but it almost literally is just the first 15 seconds, then it turns into a completely different song. Like wtf?

As far as Bond theme's go, aside from the superb Skyfall and You Know My Name, I also always loved the World Is Not Enough theme.

Some were, but it's a setup more for failure than success, especially when it doesn't pan out like this one.

Worst than 'Another Way To Die'..?

Still don't get the dislike for that song, this one is much worse.

I personally just hate that kind of reveal and its been a lame trend. The John Blake one is just silly though. Several Robins to choose one and they make one that's literally just named Robin and then play it off as a reveal. Its a wetfart at the end of the movie.

I disagree, it's more like an easter egg than a reveal imao.

I absolutely loved Adele's Skyfall theme. It had a great Bond feel and really set the tone for the movie. I just listened to it the other day.

Very, very underwhelmed by the theme. Huge step down from the Skyfall theme IMO. Now that said, maybe when I see the movie I'll feel it fits better in context. Not every Bond theme needs to be big and poppy, to be fair.

I'm just a sucker for those more classic Bond themes that really get you pumped for the movie, and this does not do that at all.

Can't be worst than Madonna's 'Die Another Day'. Even the director said he hated that, but the studio made him use it because they had a deal with Madonna....

I wasn't too excited when I heard it was Sam Smith but that song is just plan drab and boring for a Bond theme. Missed opportunity especially after following Adele's.

As someone previously mentioned, Lorde would've been a sick choice to sing the theme.

I don't even dislike the Die Another Day song like everyone else, I'm not hard to placate but that Sam Smith song is an epic bland bore.

I listened to the song again. It's a frustrating listen because of the missed opportunities.

I'll give Sam Smith's effort a few points since it's much more fitting a Bond theme than 'Die Another Day' was, but Die Another Day is a better song IMO.

I'd rather have a just okay, high energy song, than a bad, lifeless song.

I read a comment on Birth.Movies.Death. that made me laugh, comparing Sam Smith's vocals to a sentient clarinet trying to sing.

Atrocious, as expected.

Get someone with a beautiful voice and talent... like Perfume Genius, Sufjan Stevens, Sharon Van Etten, Regina Spektor, so many possibilities. And, where is my damn Radiohead-Bond song EON... seriously?

Is there anywhere I can listen to this song that isn't Spotify? lol

I don't think so. Every great Bond film has had an equally great theme. That's part of the reason the films themselves are so good.
There have been a few meh Bond films with incredible themes however. Diamonds are Forever is an example. I personally love that movie but I know it's not amongst the "best".

I like a couple of Smith songs, I'm not a Sam Smith hater but he made a ****** bore of a song. I might have to leave the theater when it starts playing or put in my earphones.

Listening to it again and judging it for what it is, I can appreciate how it's more low key and intimate and sad as a polar opposite of Skyfall which was triumphant sounding and just got you pumped. This is a little more in line with the Roger Moore era of Bond songs, namely Nobody Does it Better which you wouldn't associate in a Bond film on its own. Especially following something like Live And Let Die.

It's at least better than Another Way to Die. It's somewhat catchy but damn is it noisy.
