Meh. IMO, Both Rogue Nation and Kingsman felt like updated versions of Roger Moore films, and they got good reviews. The only reason I don't want to see Bond go back to Connery/Moore style films is because we already have those.
But the Bond franchise needs to learn how to stop either ripping itself off, or ripping off whatever genre is in vogue at the moment.
I agree with all of that. And I think the former thing you said in your last sentence is the thing that people, like myself are afraid this film is.
I think Bond's backstory and Blofeld is going to be the thing that really makes this stand apart from the previous films while it returns to the more classic elements, but hopefully those feel like they have their own identity too.
