James Bond: 007

You know, I actually really liked the FRWL video game that EA did, I had a blast when I played that game and Connery returning was a plus. I wish that EA could've done more, like one or two games with the different Bond actors actually voicing Bond. Oh well.

Did anyone play GoldenEye Wii? It was a loose remake with Daniel Craig (it had a few key moments/areas and general level settings and guns from the N64 game, but it was primarily a COD-styled reimagining of the story due to Craig, 2010, and copyright reasons).

I played a bit of it over at a buddies house and thought it was pretty neat. It was cool returning to that game and it would be neat to see it done on the 360 and PS3 so it could benefit from the power those systems provide. However i still had a lot more fun with Blood Stone. I hate Bond in the first person, i want to see the character doing those kick ass things. If its another game like the goldeneye remake i wont be nearly as interested. If its a sequel to Blood Stone, or another game similar to that, im going to preorder the minute its announced.

I enjoyed that game, but almost entirely for Connery as Bond and the '60s aesthetic. The gameplay felt like a downgrade from EON. I did hope that it was the start of them doing more third-person Bond games based on old films like Goldfinger and The Spy Who Loved Me. That way they could play with each different interpretation of Bond. Alas, it was not to be.

In theory I prefer Bond as a third-person shooter. However, to date the best Bond game is hands down N64's GoldenEye 007, which is one of the best games ever made. However, nobody has seemed able to capturing lightning in a bottle like that since. The thing is Bloodstone just felt very generic and redundant. I liked the idea behind the game but I found it very much inferior to EON and FRWL from last generation.

The Wii Goldeneye blew me away because it proved that you can do a shooter with motion controls and have amazing results, and it also proved even if Activision was making a cash-in remake of the N64 game, the developers could still turn in something strong. It was the most fun I've had with a shooter's main campaign since MW2 (and I suually find shooters very borng...I couldn't even finish the single player campaign in MW2). It also has hands down the best multiplayer/online play of any Bond game made since the N64 classic in part because it is based on that game's style, but it came up with clever set-ups (like the GoldenEye minigame).

I don't want another remake of GoldenEye because the Wii one was good enough and seeing that game with better graphics would still feel meh because the Wii one looked good enough and the innovative motion controls made it stand out. On 360/PS3 it would be just another COD game. But they could expand the online play....still I'd rather just see a new concept than another cash grab on GE's name. I consider it luck that they developed a great game on that title. Another remake would probably end up like EA's crappy GoldenEye: Rogue Agent game from last generation.

Anyway, here is how I would rate Activision's efforts on Bond:

-QOS: 6/10
-Bloodstone: 6.5/10
-GE Wii: 8.5+/10

I prefer third-person, but it seems Activision is really struggling with it whereas EA was onto something, in my opinion.

I see where ur coming from, me personally tho, i found GE just as generic as Blood Stone. Blood Stone is easily my fav Bond title to date. The reason no one is able to capture what Goldeneye did was because Goldeneye was doing something fairly new for the time. Going back to it now though, the game is extremely dated with EVERYTHING in the game being done better by a handful of shooters. There really isnt much else you can do with Bond that hasnt been done.

I had a feeling that it'll be Goldeneye related ever since they registered several domain names under that name. The more I think the more I have a feeling it's a HD version of Goldeneye, I just hope my guts are wrong.

Yea everything points to it being something Goldeneye. I just wonder what it's gonna be? A remake of the original, like the Wii version, or an hd port of the orig title, or something new using the Goldeneye name?

I actually hope it's an HD Port of Wii Goldeneye as that seems to be happening often.

I could go for the HD port...although, you gotta wonder what legal wizards were able to pull that off and get Nintendo to allow it at all...if it IS that.

I really don't want the next game to be an FPS, though. I'd prefer if they just add to what they did with Blood Stone.

Never played Blood Stone but I heard it was... "eeeeeeeeh."

Iv had more fun with Blood Stone than any other James Bond game, not including N64 Goldeneye. Its a very straight forward title, but i felt it did what it needed to do, which was make you feel like Daniel Craigs bad ass James Bond.

Blood Stone is my favorite Bond game not including Goldeneye but that game has different circumstances on it. The best part of Blood Stone was the gameplay, it was fantastic. The cover system, beat downs, gunplay all of it was smooth and made you feel like Daniel Craig's Bond. The story was pretty good and the driving levels were awesome. My only problem with Blood Stone was the campaign was waayy too short and multiplayer wasn't very good.

Id agree with that. I never even tried the MP tho.

The Istanbul driving section was my fav, cant beat the classic Aston Martin.

I heard the same. But, considering that was what people said for a game that was at $60...it's not at about $20.

For $20, it's a really good game worth trying out. I can understand people backing off from a $60 price point, but I'd recommend it to anyone at the price it's at right now.

Blood Stone is the best Bond game since Everything Or Nothing.

Yeah EON still remains on top (going to play it later tonight), but Bloodstone is a real close second. Love both games for what they are.

Yea I think how they did EoN and Blood Stone should be the template going forward. Certainly don't want an fps

Agreed, though I most admit I did enjoy Nightfire and QOS. But for the ultimate Bond experience, combat, chases etc., it has to be third person.

Damn it. All the signs that point to it but I still don't want to believe it. I'm still wish we could've gotten something else like Blood Stone or at least a TPS but I gotta to admit I'm curious if it holds up for the current generation.

I prefer third person Bond games, but I'll be buying this the day it comes out regardless!

That kind of sucks but the wii Goldeneye was freakin great so I'll think about this game. Definitely need to see more of it though

Impressive, that they managed to get past Nintendo on that. It being altered enough helped, I'm sure.

And gotta say, I've heard nothing but good things about it. I'm happy we're getting this, and not a brand new, balls out 007 game that's in the FPS direction.

I'm going to be hopeful and say that this leaves room for them to still work on another third-person 007, probably one that could get alot of development time if they want to release it with the new Sam Mendes James Bond film in the works. With Javier Bardem as the Bond villian.

I heard the new goldeneye was really good and i was tempted to get it on wii the other day (saw it quite cheap) so will prob get this on 360 now
