I liked Avatar but it looks like Cameron is getting ready to milk it. I don't think I liked it that much.

I dont see anything wrong by re-releasing it again in Selected theaters

It's not the re-release at all, I'm even looking forward to his 3D re-release of Titanic. It's Mr. Cameron talking about making two sequels back to back. I feel Avatar was a terrific stand alone film, I'm not sure what sequels could do for it. Look at the Matrix, brilliant groundbreaking that got back to back sequels and it didn't go so well. And to a lesser extent, Pirates of the Caribbeans.

The news of sequels does not excite me, but at the same time I'm sure I will see them if they are good.

Why are people still complaining about this? It's not like it's the first time Hollywood is doing a theatrical re-release of a succesful movie. And how many times hasn't movies been re-released in the past without adding anything new? Take Disney and many of their classic animated movies for example. And it's not like anyone is forced to see it again.

exactly, Disney is also re-releasing Beauty and the Beast in 3D this year but I hear no huge complaints or out roar about it

i think its the first time that a movie is re-realesed in 5 months and only beause the director is saying that they didnt make enough money in april because a new 3d movie was realesed.

11:20 - Cameron talks about AVATAR 2's current status. He has an overall story arc for 2 and 3, but has some modifications for that after spending some time during the last few months with native tribes in the Amazon basin. Script will be a ways out yet for AVATAR 2.

12:04 - He is focusing his writing right now on the AVATAR novel (corresponds to the first film) and that will take him the next couple of months to bang out. Not sure when it will be coming out, perhaps the end of the year or the first quarter of 2011.

12:45 - The AVATAR re-release will have 9 extra minutes, not 8 and it will all be CG. No extra footage of live action characters drinking coffee. Rainforest; some at night; a hunt sequence - a lot of flying; high impact action; an emotional scene toward the end has been added back; "the best CG in the film has been added as far as facial performance"; A Na'vi counterattack after the bulldozer attack; more of Grace at the school; adding the Stingbat and Sturmbeast creatures; additional Quaritch final AMP Suit battle shots; more of the glade love scene. It is all on par with the best of the rest of the film. They had lots of footage to choose from and they put back the absolute best scenes and shots they could.

15:45 - Cameron does not have the release timing of the 3D Blu-ray as they want to have a nice distribution of 3DTVs in homes. He has seen the 3D master run on consumer 3DTVs from Panasonic and Samsung and "It looks amazing. It looks really spectacular."

That is one way to understand it, the "bitter" way. He said people were still going to see Avatar but it had to make room for others 3D movies so Avatar was removed from the screens. He didn't say the movie didn't make enough money, that's ridiculous.
Also, people still have the choice to not going to see it again.

@ CGHulk : nice news, I am impatient to read the novelization.

******** 9 minutes ? Just do a kick ass Extended Edition with everything they shot. I am not going to buy this movie again on DVD or Blu Ray if it is only 9 minutes long long. Cameron is going to milk the first movie to ****

this is about the theater.

on the BR you will get everything that they have.

No we won't be getting everything they have.

Can you talk about the additonal eight minutes that will be in the theatrical release?

Sam Worthington: I wish we added eight hours. I think the first cut I saw was about six hours long.

I doubt we will be getting all of those additional hours as deleted scenes on the DVD/Blu-ray.

awwww i hoping for 9 minutes of random dudes drinking coffee.... :(

so wait, no future earth scenes?

Apparently not, it will only be CG scenes as Cameron interview seems to indicate. I don't complain, it is a somehow logical choice if they can only add 9 minutes but who knows maybe there will be a glimpse of future earth after all or in the collector DvD/BR.

yeah hopefully we can get to see it becuase thats what im looking forward to.

You tool, I explained to Kane that my complaints have NOTHING to do with the re-release because I am looking forward to the re-release of a number of films.

we will get all the deleted scenes.

of course we will not get every footage that they filmed.

no DVD or BR ever realesed every footage that they ahve.

for example IM 2008 has around 3 hours of recorded footage.

i was reading somewhere that they already had problems with extra 8-9 minutes for the re-realese. and the future Earth scenes together were at least 5 minutes long.

so there was no way to have Earth and extra pandora for the re-realese.

its sad because all this could be on the April BR realese. :csad:

maybe then there will be a re-re-release of the additional 5 minutes of earth. an extension of the extension cut!? :wow: :hehe:

I'm waiting the collector DvD/BR like it was my first christmas, it has been a long time since a movie had this effect on me. I think Tron will be the same :)
I saw the film at least 10 time in DvD, I listen the sound track in loop back, I read the survival guide, the art of Avatar, I pre-ordered the Sideshow Neytiri statue ( she's beautiful )...I am an Avatard :)
