You cannot be serious with that...
I have an feeling Donald Trump is behind this, every bad thing has happened because of him. Donald Trump probably wrote an letter to Disney to get James Gunn fired by telling Disney that he made fake tweets about the stuff that the incident mentioned

Smart man.Honestly, if I ever get hired for a Marvel movie, I am nuking all my social media accounts, as well. I have never said anything like James Gunn did, but I would never want to deal with all the crap social media brings or have any possible risks to my job.

That's not necessary if you use social media wisely. Just use it to post news or teases of things. You think the Marvel or Disney Twitter accounts have anything controversial on them? Just treat your own account like that and don't get into anything personal with anyone.
It doesn't have to be a platform or soap box to air all your views and make rants. It can just be a way of keeping people updated with the latest news, posting inspirational quotes or congratulating people on achievements. Nothing which gives anything away about anything.
That's all that Gunn's account should've been. When he's filming and writing, he should be too busy to Tweet, and when he's not, he should just share the latest news about his latest project. No opinions, rants or incitements in between.
That sounds slightly oxymoronic. That's not necessary if you use social media wisely.

Give people any tool, and they'll find a misuse for it. Sometimes with hilarious results.Businesses use social media all the time. It's just to maintain a presence and give the impression of connectivity. There's nothing really personal on there.
It's like the front page of the Hype. Do you think anyone has any personal rants up there? Or any inappropriate "jokes"? It's purely news. That's all some Twitter accounts need to be.
Or they can create polls on what people like about certain things. Or share a good piece of news. How wrong can it go if you keep it to a minimum and within those guidelines?

I've seen stranger things (not the TV show). It could be hacked one day and fill with pron or some other off the wall content, because there are people out there who can and would do such a thing. So you're saying one day on the front page of the Hype we could find a rant or some inappropriate comments? Well that would be something to see.

I don't expect them to change their minds, but if they did, that would be up to them. That being said, any boycott ain't hurting Avengers 4.There's definitely going to be a group of Marvel fans boycotting Captain Marvel and Avengers 4 over James being fired. The backlash Disney is getting from Twitter and Facebook is big.
I hope Disney sticks to their guns though.
Yeah, real hard times for Disney, with the purchase of 21 Cenutry Fox and another 2 billion dollar film, Black Panther getting to 700m domestically, and the Incredibles 2 smashing records. They are really shooting themselves in the foot. Truly. There goes Disney, shooting themselves in the foot again.
I will say that I don't approve of the jokes Gunn made. I think they are pretty sick and lowbrow. On the other hand, it's only a step or two above something you'd hear in a RedLetterMedia video (I'm actually a huge fan of them, but some of their humor is a bit much). Tasteless or not, I'm not sure it's a firing offense.
Also, these Tweets existed long before Disney hired Gunn. It's their own fault if they weren't aware of them. This is a case where ignorance isn't an excuse. On top of that, a lot of Gunn's pre-Disney work is pretty vulgar and shocking. They should have known what they were getting into.
Vulgar or not, I don't think they should have fired him. Gunn was an extremely talented filmmaker, and he's going to be hard to replace. Should have at least let him finish Guardians 3 before letting him go. Separate the art from the artist (unless they're actively doing something inexcusable). Because of this Guardians 3 will probably have a massive fan-backlash and under-preform, even if it's good. Guardians was too closely associated with Gunn to just hand to someone else.
Yesterday I was outraged over this. I was ready to boycott Marvel and Disney. Then I switched sides, and was mad at Gunn. Now I can see both sides. I get that Disney needs to protect their name. But I don't think this is the way. Not only are they punishing Gunn, but they're punishing the millions of people who were looking forward to his work. And potentially sabotaging one of the great trilogies of this decade. Forgive me for thinking art should come before a silly political ruckus that will be forgotten in a few years. (What if someone had dug up a bunch of dirt on Lucas before he started filming Star Wars back in the '70s?) Again, separate the art from the artist.
If we're going to talk about replacements, off the top of my head, I think Lord and Miller could be good picks. Similar humor, visuals, etc. Don't dare suggest Taika Waititi as a replacement. His style bears superficial similarities to Guardians, but it's actually vastly different and I'd argue incompatible.
Well, you never know. Someone has a very bad day, all kinds of things can happen. But that wouldn't be the site owner putting it up there himself out of pure idiocy.
Certainly. A multiplier in Gunn's case is not only that he wrote it, but left it up there for all the world to see for years and then had the genius idea to embark on a moral crusade. It has the makings of a Greek tragedy. It would be one thing if Gunn's Twitter account were hacked and quite another if he wrote it all himself out of poor judgment as he did.
Take the tinfoil hat off. Trump is not what got him fired; Gunn's own tweets and today's social and political climate are what got him fired.I have an feeling Donald Trump is behind this, every bad thing has happened because of him. Gunn deserves it.

I felt like Guardians forced me into a much deeper way of thinking about, you know, my relationship to people, I suppose. I was a very nasty guy on Twitter. It was a lot ***** edgy, in-your-face, dirty stuff. I suddenly was working for Marvel and Disney, and that didn't seem like something I could do anymore. I thought that that would be a hindrance on my life. But the truth was it was a big, huge opening for me. I realized, a lot of that stuff is a way that I push away people. When I was forced into being this" he moved his hand over his chest "I felt more fully myself."
And what's "this"?
"Sensitive, I guess?" he said. "Positive. I mean, I really do love people. And by not having jokes to make about whatever was that offensive topic of the week, that forced me into just being who I really was, which was a pretty positive person. It felt like a relief."
What if the jokes had been racist instead? What if a look into his past twitter feeds revealed a man who loved to make jokes at the expense of black people and was using all sorts of stereotypes? Would anyone still be making this argument?
Because I don't remember this kind of sympathy for Roseanne. Is everyone trying to tell me that they're deeply bothered and offended by racist jokes but NOT pedophilia jokes?
