Apocalypse James McAvoy is Professor Charles Xavier!

I started watching Sense8 recently. Their use of telepathy is so well-done, I wonder if Xavier could orchestrate something like that. Like, connecting, say, Wolverine to Jubilee to help her combat someone or maybe connect Beast to Shadowcat to help her hack something. Idk. It's fun stuff.

The UK trailer for Victor Frankenstein is much better, IMHO. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvESrJ5GdHc

ETA: Screenwriter Max Landis has tweeted that the UK trailer is a much more accurate representation of the film than the American one: https://***********/Uptomyknees/status/633673385323532289

Here's another collage which shows that James has barely aged over the years.

The U.S. Trailer is horrible. They made it seem like a parody or something. The UK one is much better. Seems more dark.

I've just noticed that the official Facebook page for Victor Frankenstein (which is USA-based) has so far only posted the British trailer: https://www.facebook.com/FrankensteinMovie

The Polish poster is a lot nicer than the American one, IMHO.

McAvoy doesn't have any imagined slights.

This one is great. :atp: I think they're using it in the UK; hopefully Fox will change its mind and use it in the US and ROW too.

Despite James not receiving the full recognition he deserves from the film industry, some young actors like Daniel and Tye Sheridan still look up to him.
He has many fans among the younger actors. Emma Thompson too, and Saoirse Ronan said she decided to take the stage (I think she's doing a play on Broadway) after she saw James in Macbeth. So if he's aware of that he must feel proud.

I'm still waiting patiently for the industry's recognition, but at this point all I really hope for is to see Frankenstein doing well, for both James and Dan. Then maybe I won't have to see a minuscule Charles Xavier on the Apocalypse poster or his face on the back of the DVD. :whatever:

Damn he's not even top billing in this.

I didn't know about Thompson and Ronan also admiring his acting. That's great. :yay:

I'm really annoyed at FOX for pushing Victor Frankenstein's North American release date from October (which would take advantage of Halloween) to November 25. :cmad: Mockingjay Part 2 would only have been out for 5 days, and therefore it will still be raking in the big bucks, so VF will almost certainly be clobbered at the box office. :csad:

The movie is told from Igor's perspective, so Radcliffe does have more screen time.

You may find this funny but there's only one truth - James was completely excluded from any publicity for The Rogue Cut. I admire the guy and I think it's unfair to the actor. So shoot me. :o

Ok something's wrong with you.

I was actually serious and genuinely surprised. Judging by the trailer, he definitely is the lead.

Not everyone is out to get James, Loganbabe...

Yes, it's quite a young following he has. :woot: I also think it's great that he started a scholarship to help kids who can't pay for their tuition to study acting. Quite a generous way to use the big paycheck from X-Men. :cwink:

Totally agree, an incredibly stupid decision. VF would fit greatly in the Halloween season, and so many theaters will be showing Mockingjay in November, so the projected box office for VF doesn't look good. Crossing my fingers anyway.

Oh, don't bother answering, it was pure sarcasm...those two just think that the fans who complain about James not getting recognition from the industry are mindless idiots. Even when we read on a daily basis different people tweeting that he's one of the most underrated actors there is. Even when being crucial to a franchise means that he'll only get a spot on the back of a DVD and is nowhere to be seen in any ads for the new version. Because this is completely normal, right? Like putting Chris Hemsworth on the back cover of a The Avengers DVD. Super normal. :o

It's funny because one of them once said he was a big fan, but since the thread started he never came here to say anything about James, only to mock other fans. Go figure. :whatever:

Please there's no need to treat me like an idiot. If that wasn't sarcasm, you wouldn't have LOLed at what JP wrote.

Yes, not everyone is out to get James, but some are out to get the fans who write the tiniest complaints, or anything concerning his career. It has been always like this with me, now it has reached Siberia too. And we are having a nice convo on a thread that is dedicated to him, but there is always this hostility. It's hard to understand, and I'm not surprised that so many have fled. If you and JP want this thread just to be a place where you can be sarcastic to anyone trying to talk anything concerning James while not giving a damn about the actor, so be it.

I LOLed because it sounded like something someone would say. :cwink:

Considering I far preferred McAvoy's Xavier to Fassbender's Magneto even back in First Class days, when people were saying McAvoy was relegated be background to Fassy's "lead" character (since that seems to be what this whole issue is about to you: McAvoy vs. Fassy) I don't really need to explain myself to you.

Good luck though!

I guess "Igor" is not as catchy a movie title :oldrazz:

IMDb actually did list the film as Igor for several months, but it was changed to Victor Frankenstein in Dec. 2014.

I've just noticed that VF may be the first time in James' career where he's ever-so-slightly more prominent in the marketing side of things than the first-billed actor. Victor does have a stronger presence in the trailers, he stands in front of Igor in both the American and Polish posters, and he took over the movie's title. Radcliffe's fans have every right to complain about this. :cwink:

In all seriousness, there's something of a role-reversal here for McAvoy because he's playing the "flashy" character for once. Apparently, most people who attended the test screenings for VF considered James' performance to be the highlight, and Daniel can't quite match him. If that's true, then it's understandable that FOX wants to put more focus on the more memorable role.

And while I acknowledge that this is unfair to Radcliffe, he's still treated a lot better than McAvoy was for the promotion of The Last King of Scotland (which is also a FOX production) and XMDOFP.

I also think it's great that he started a scholarship to help kids who can't pay for their tuition to study acting. Quite a generous way to use the big paycheck from X-Men. :cwink:

I did hear about this scholarship, and I remember thinking at the time that it was a very Professor X-like thing to do. :ilv:

I've only joined this forum recently, so perhaps that makes it easier for me not to take the negative comments too personally. I just focus on the posts that I want to respond to. I'm here to discuss James, and no amount of teasing will prevent me from doing so.

Well, you can enjoy a good sarcasm because it's witty, even if you don't agree with what it says. I know I laughed.

I think most of us on this thread agree with the fact that James doesn't get the attention he deserves. But it's a bit tiring to read almost ONLY rants about this fact, on this board, but also on imdb. To be honest, I don't think we do him any favours by doing so.
Speaking enthusiastically about his work, about what we think of him, about what we would like him to do next, is a much more positive way to tell the world he's a great actor who deserves more love imho :)

I'll take this a step further... McAvoy is the best actor this series has ever had, as far as I'm concerned. And continues to give the best performance in every X-Men movie he's in.

But I'm not a *real* McAvoy fan because I don't make up imaginary stuff about him being shunned by society.

tbh, the fact that this is the only thread where I'm not constantly praising McAvoy says a lot about how this thread is run... :(
