Swamp Thing James Wan is bringing Swamp Thing to DC's streaming service!

There's too many licensing deals in place...

DCEU films - on various tv networks

Smallville and current CW shows - CW exclusive

60's Batman. - Currently on the Roku TV app

Christopher Reeve's Superman and the Batman films are often added and removed because of temporarily deals with various other apps and services

Plus for some reason, the comics are all over a year old

I can see why DC Universe, which is basically app based streaming service aimed primarily at DC fans is finding this show to be too expensive to continue, but HBO-Max has all the money, so why doesn't HBO-Max takeup the season 2 of Swamp Thing ?

Their competitors Amazon and Disney+ are making shows based on Lord of The Rings, Star Wars and MCU based series. While all WB has done is to get a show on Watchmen green-lit for HBO Max. They need more popular shows, clearly Swamp Thing is such a show with good reviews and a fan-base.

I feel like Warner Brothers has way, way too many executives that are vulture capitalists who are not about taking chances on making a persons artistic vision, as much as they seem to be intent on sinking a lot of money into a failure they get a big return on. Warner Brothers just need to go all in on the streaming original content, they have volumes of IP, and seem intent to recycle the same things.

Great episode! Can't wait to see how it ends. Does this actually have a solid ending or is it going to be a cliff hanger ending? Gonna suck if it is.

Episode 9 is just amazing from start to finish.
The FX was 100% superb and impressive. A brainless (professional) online reviewer claimed that you can see the "seams" inbetween Alec's head and the rest of his body, but it's not true at all, I can't see anything. The FX was perfect and the practical effects were top notch stuff. Kudos to the production.

I love this show, and Swamp Thing is one of my fave characters ever. Well, let's pretend we just got 3 Swamp Thing movies (editing the episodes to form movies is a big fun).

I just hope we will not get a cliffhanger at the very end of Episode 10, that would suck.

I doubt we'll get the traditional cliffhanger ending, though I'm expecting something that is open ended, just in case (if we're lucky) another network picks this up; they'll want to leave the story open, however because the cancellation came that early, I suspect (and hope) those involved wrapped it up enough for us viewers.

The cancellation happened after production had been unexpectedly shut down early. I doubt they got a chance to wrap anything up in a satisfactory manner.

I hate when they do that, same thing happened to Constantine series (NBC cancelled Constantine after 13 eps), when they could not film the last episode and the second last episode left us on a cliffhanger of the 2 episode finale.

Why Constantine Failed, According To The Producer

I would love to see a full action final episode, where - in the very end - Swamp Thing declares himself ready to face new adventures along with Abby.

Not watched it yet, but tell me:

Is the ending celebrative for Swampy? Is a good conclusion from the mini-series perspective?

Yeah. Some stuff didn't have a clear ending but most arcs concluded. Abby and Swampy left off In a fitting and good way

The post credits scene is awesome but made me even more disappointed about the cancellation as it obviously leads to a 2nd season with a whole big new story. Pretty much a huge cliff hanger

The final episode felt very rushed and dare I say, campy/cheap at times. Finished most story arcs (and not necessarily in a satisfactory way) but the post-credits scene felt almost better than the rest of the episode. Probably the worst episode of the series. I guess my expectations were too high.

Definetly a weak episode and perhaps the weakest but I wouldn't say campy or cheap.

What disappoints me the most in terms of story arcs is
Avery Sudderland's last scene is him in his car about to drive off. After everything he's done and does in the final episode he doesn't get arrested, killed, goes completly broke or anything. He simply goes home!

As I'd expected under the circumstances, it was a rushed and not particularly satisfying finale, but damn am I gonna miss this show. SO much potential we've been robbed of, but what we got was a damn good ride, imo, and probably my favorite live-action DC TV adaptation to date.

I thought it was a good episode. Definitely shot as a season finale rather than a series finale given there were some loose threads that weren’t tied up at the end. Also, wasn’t the original episode count supposed to be 13 but then dropped to 10? Did that affect anything? Anyway, overall it was a great series and too bad it had to end so fast.

Honestly I don’t think DC Universe is going to survive for very long. The shows will probably continue on HBO Max but the streaming app will probably die. I’ve been pretty disappointed overall with their offerings.

Whilst it could have been better, I thought they wrapped it up nicely. They were only ever going to be able to do so much with it considering the lame cancellation, and I think they've done the best they could. Most of the accessory characters were killed off, with three or four remaining should another network ever pick this up. The majority of the story was told, and concluded.

I'm content in the knowledge it wasn't left at a complete cliffhanger, though I'm still irritated that it was cancelled well before it's time; it's just WB screwing up yet again. Short of the CW shows (which, despite some of the stories within, is quite the success), will they ever get anything truly right?

I enjoyed the finale, but man did this show get short changed big time. It also felt a bit rushed to me as well, and now I'm starting to wonder just how much better this show could have been if those 4 extra episodes didn't get cut. I can't put my finger on it, but it felt like something was missing in the later half of this season. I liked that there was at least some resolution to Swampy and Abby's relationship, but there are still so many loose threads to tie up and don't even get me started on that post credit scene. I really enjoyed this show overall, but the ending could have been way more satisfying. Also, Jake Busey's acting in this final episode was pretty awful IMO, and the dialogue from those other commando guys wasn't much better either.

This show started out strong but gradually fell apart in my opinion.

Sunderland coughed up one of those plants which means he got sick, most likely fatally, from the disease earlier in the season.
