JANE: The writer is halfway through a draft right now. We should be rolling camera with any luck by February. Jigsaw is going to be in it.

Is Jonathan Hensleigh coming back to direct?

JANE: No. We're still looking for a new director. If you know anybody, let me know.

It would REALLY suck if LGF was trying to pull a Fox and there were creative difference. But it could also be that Hensleigh needed a budget that they didn't want to give them maybe?

Its not only that since Punisher 1 was released LGF has made lots of money from their new franchises like Hostel and Saw. The attention has been shifted elsewhere.

Hayter maybe since his Black Widow project was shelved.

Hayter would be awesome. He's has been fairly unlucky recently with his awesome Watchmen script and Black Widow not being produced.

Exactly. If the Punisher had been treated better I think it possibly could have been as big as those other franchises and we would have a sequel already in the works.

fyi it is possible that Hensliegh didn't want alot of gore but Avi shared the thoughts af alot of fans that there should be more blood and violence. Granted there;s alot in that script but maybe he didn't want it in ther and left himself...

Personally, ever since I saw Goodfellas I always wanted to see Scorcese adapt Welcome Back Frank. He is the only man that can do Frank Castle justice. Can you imagine Robert Deneiro doing the narrative of the Punisher? If not Jane, then Deneiro is the man! If they are going to super impose Sir Ian Mkellan's face on a cgi body for the new Magneto movie thats in development, why can't they use Deneiro for Frank? In Meet the Parents he still looks like he's in shape, maybe a strict Hollywood diet would put him in peak perfection. Ive read Welcome Back frank a total of 120 times now, and in all honesty I couldnt see any new director transcribing Garth's brilliance to film. Anyway....
