Jane gives update on Punisher 2

Yep of course. But also I think they realized the huge idiotic mistakes they made mainly pitting it head to head with Kill Bill 2. The franchise has much more potential if it is treated in a better manner.

I think the idiotic mistake was making the watered down and silly effort that they did. But hey, that's just me :unishr: .

I agree with your statement above Vileone that if punisher had performed like Saw or Hostel part 3 would be filming already. Punisher isn't suitable to be the centerpiece or main villain in any Spidey film however he could be an interesting supporting character. Conflict of morals. Kind of like Terminator 2 with Arnold not killing anyone with the kid keeping him in check. It could be done and maintain a PG-13 rating.

Did you see Terminator 2? Try pitching that to Sony or Sam Raimi and all they'll give is, "You'll hear from us soon."

I sincerely doubt there's any want for a cross-branding of The Punisher and Spider-man, especially on Sony's side.

If done right and they show the Punisher near the end going on about his business and perhaps going after The Kingpin or something or at least hinting at that it could set up a future solo Punisher film and the Spiderman film would create a lot more interest. I agree this isn't likely soon but if LGF gives up on the rights and Marvel lets' them use it...it would make for a totally different Spiderman flick. I'm getting tired of everyone of Spidey's aquaintences becoming super villains. Does he know anyone in the films that aren't besides Aunt May? LOL

How about Jameson, Mary Jane, Betty Brant, Robbie Robertson, and Captain Stacy?

Sorry, you don't mix the latest cinematic rendition of The Punisher with the most successful superhero/comic book movie franchise character of all time, even if it can be done in a "PG-13 rating." I see no reason why a Spider-man film should be used as a launching pad to try and redo the Punisher again. The Punisher got his shot and didn't make the most of it.

Again I wouldn't want the Punisher to be the main attraction but sort of the fly in the ointment. Both characters with clashing morals going after the same villain and bumping heads along the way. I think it would stand out from the other films but keeping their conflict as a sub-plot only. I agree it's not going to happen soon but Spiderman did intro the Punisher way back when and that was a fun story. I always pictured those two going after Kingpin or being hunted by Kraven or something.

I've said this before and I will keep on saying it. What works in the comics doesn't neccesarily work in movies. The Punisher and Spider-Man movies are 2 way different types of movies and to even suggest a Punisher in a PG-13 style is just ridiculous. The Punisher movie was a good origin movie for the character and the changes no matter how you look at them were minor. The true heart of the character was on that screen and like it or not the Punisher does do his business during the day. To complain about it being in the day light to much is a stretch for a complaint. The movie wasn't perfect, but there hasn't ever been any movie that is perfect. The Punisher was a great addition to the Marvel family of movies. The only reason it didn't open to number #1 in April of 2004, was because of Kill Bill 2. LGF/Marvel should have known that all the little teenies who want mindless pop culture crap would go see that waste of celluloid. It was nice to sit and watch a movie that wasn't wall to wall cgi, wire work and bullet time and harkened back to the days of simple dark revenge flicks of the 70's. Maybe some of you are to young to appreciate those types of movies. I have no problems with people not liking the Punisher, but I am tired of hearing that it wasn't true to the character because it took place in Florida or it shouldn't have been so much in the daylight. As a Punisher fan for 20+ years I was very pleased with Hensleigh's vision of the Punisher and wished he was coming back for the sequel.

I think if it had a decent budget and shooting schedule you would be singing another tune. Wait no you wouldn't...why am I even arguing with the guy who thinks Ghost Rider murders people??

I know. It's like talking to a wall with some of them. I just love how they come in here and ***** to us. It's not like we're going to change our minds on the movie. I never went into the LOTR boards and bashed it.

For something like The Punisher, that's exactly what it got.

When GR drives his spikes into a guy's head I don't think it's because he wants to knock him out.

The only reason it didn't open to number #1 in April of 2004, was because of Kill Bill 2. LGF/Marvel should have known that all the little teenies who want mindless pop culture crap would go see that waste of celluloid.

Wow someone's bitter and a little jealous.

It looked like crap in the day time, it's that simple. And it doesn't go well with his dark costume.

And what kind of place is TAMPA freaking Florida to set a Punisher movie? Might as well have just set it in Orlando and had Frank fighting money launderers in Universal Studio. The Russian and Frank could've taken their fight into the Impact Zone and after Frank beats The Russian, people would've been like SUPER SHREDDER *clap clap clap clap clap*.

As a Punisher fan for 20+ years I was very pleased with Hensleigh's vision of the Punisher and wished he was coming back for the sequel.

He's not coming back to the sequel for a reason.

The true heart of the character was on that screen and like it or not the Punisher does do his business during the day.

Sorry, going to the authorities and reporters in broad daylight in front of everyone and basically say what he's going to do is not true to the heart of the character. And what the hell were the police doing after that? When all these Howard Saint people are getting killed off . . . they already have a #1 suspect. Bad storytelling.

Sure he does business during the day, like cleaning his guns.

Like you just bashed Kill Bill? Little teenies just like mindless pop culture entertainment like Kill Bill and Lord of The Rings not high quality art like The Punisher.

But I didn't go into a Kill Bill message board and call it the biggest waste of celluloid put on film. I never said LOTR is pop culture crap, just KB and QT. I never said the Punisher was high qulaity art either. As for the Punisher being in Florida, well if you knew anything about the Punisher and would read what fans have been posting for years on here. His first mission in the comics was going to Florida to take out the Costa family. I guess wearing black clothing in the day is as bad as wearing white after labor day. I never knew you were a fashion expert VileOne.

No his first mission in the comics was going after Spider-man.

And it's got nothing to do with fashion. It's got everything to do with film and what looks good on it.

LMAO (I had to edit out the rest).

Actually if you read Punisher: Year One his first mission was going to Florida to take out the Costa family.

You're splitting hairs.

Just try to ignore Vile. It seems he just goes into forums to be an overly pessimistic, negative and stubborn vermicious knid. Whatever he thinks he thinks is right no matter what and doesn't like hearing other people say differently.

Oh red, you're just splitting hairs. :woot:

Not sure if there's any connection but I've witnessed in the past how Anger & negativity tends to build up when you wear pink and green floral shirts and flex in the mirror all day.

Whatever. This is your usual schtick in order to brush everything aside. I think you are just jealous that I saw Venom footage and you didn't.

Overly pessimistic, negative, and stubbornly vermicious seems to describe a certain person's campaign against another website quite well.

Do you have me mixed up with someone else???

WOW, How old are you? That's something a 3rd grader would say.

Besides, my daddy can beat up your daddy anyway.

I really hope a director is confirmed. Though, i don't know who could replace Hensligh. What do you guys think?

Wow, theres alot of conflict here lol
anyway, I really liked the first movie alot, it was a classic marvel film!
But now that the origin is out of the way I want to see him as Badass as he was in the final fight, but this time throughout the entire movie. Many ppl didnt like the use of a popsicle as a torure device, and I wasn't a big fan of it either, It was really funny, but I think 2 should leave out things like this and focus more on what the Punisher has become. You can tell the difference in his personality from the first fight to the final one.

^ LMAO

Director will hopefully be confirmed before the end of the year. It's gonna go to someone with a 1st look deal at LGF so don't be shocked if Eli Roth is attached.
