Jane gives update on Punisher 2

I wonder if Paul verhoeven is busy...

Totally! Verhoeven would deliver a totally brutal Punisher film.

I'd really love to see him on more projects nowadays. (As long as he's not watered down and told to deliver a PG-13 or something - kinda defeats the purpose).

Imagine what Verhoeven could do with, say, the Alien v. Predator franchise if it was R (18) rated? He'd make both franchises great again.

I keep watching Robocop: Directors cut and Totall Recall and wishing that someone would have the balls enough to give him a worthwhile project were he was allowed to film whatever sick violence he wanted.

Eli Roth? Lionsgate has some pretty nifty directors. Who's the director of Crank? That looks like fun.

I like Roth but your comment made me laugh hard. how do films like Crank still get funding? Someone's paying...sigh. No surprise to anyone here I loathed The Punisher. I'm pleased to see J.Hensleigh gone. Bring on someone familiar with the source material and present the kind of film that Punisher is due. If Jane stays I could deal but wouldn't mind seeing a relaunch a la Hulk by Marvel.

Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine directed Crank. James Isaac (Jason X) directed Skinwalkers. Jonathan Hensleigh has nothing to do with it as far as I know.

Sounds like The Punisher 2 has entered development hell officially. I can see why there's no rush for Lionsgate to make it when they have the SAW series. Just saying, there's a reason why SAW got its sequels made so quickly, even though they switched directors after the first one.

I wonder if the Punisher will eventually go back to Marvel.

Good, with Hensleigh not returning maybe we'll get a Punisher movie that doesn't suck.

Yeah, because the Punisher was the worse comic bbok movie ever created and had nothing at all in common with the source material

Yeah exactly. Give us a sequel that is more like the Lundgren Punisher. :)

That's what I'm talking about. That would be awesome, and they could lose the whole skull on the shirt crap! Better yet let's get Stallone to play the Punisher and Lundgren can play Jigsaw.:spidey:

Horrible movie, worst of all time. If only Uwe Boll had directed it would have been the best comic book movie ever, would have broken box office records. I hate this movie so much I need to keep posting here and convince everyone it sucks.:spidey:

It's gotta suck to be you.

I'm pretty pissed that Hensleigh isn't returning. Does anyone know any details? Did he back out, or did he get canned?

Dude took a shoe-string budget and very little film time and crafted a very bad-ass 70's style old school revenge flick. With actual STUNTS! MY GOD!

I was looking forward to what he could pull of with a little studio faith backing him up, but I guess that's out the window. Thanks for nothing, Lionsgate. You turds.

At least Tom Jane is still interested. At this point, he's probably the only guy with any influence who is. God Bless him.

cool gif TP. Any chance or reposting it without the "idiot" coming accross?

that's what i've been saying. With Saw and Hostel sequels why rush to make P2 unless there's nothing better. Crank looks like fun. Clearly just an actionfest and not much more. There's always room for films like that. This is why I want Marvel to get the rights back so they can make a sequel or sell the rights to use the punisher in individual films. Imagine Spiderman 5 with Spidey waking up on an Island and being hunted by Kraven, and then finding out The Punisher is there too being hunted as well. Then they escape and both hunt down Kraven in NY. Punihser trying to kill him and Spiderman trying to capture him and stop the PUNIsher. :)

^^Thats a cool scenario but its highly unlikely it'll happen in the near future.Even referencing the Daily Bugle in Daredevil was problematic. They had to use another newspaper for Ben Urich.

Yeah I seriously doubt we will see any superheros with the Punisher. But if there really is gonna be a new director who knows.

I can't imagine Sony letting a cinematic money pit and R-rated character like the Punisher appearing alongside their most prized franchise character.

But it's really quite simple folks. If Punisher made some actual BO money than a second sequel would already be in the can right now. This business of re-writing scripts and finding the right director wouldn't even be an issue. It would be done 2 and a half years ago.

Yep of course. But also I think they realized the huge idiotic mistakes they made mainly pitting it head to head with Kill Bill 2. The franchise has much more potential if it is treated in a better manner.

I agree with your statement above Vileone that if punisher had performed like Saw or Hostel part 3 would be filming already. Punisher isn't suitable to be the centerpiece or main villain in any Spidey film however he could be an interesting supporting character. Conflict of morals. Kind of like Terminator 2 with Arnold not killing anyone with the kid keeping him in check. It could be done and maintain a PG-13 rating. If done right and they show the Punisher near the end going on about his business and perhaps going after The Kingpin or something or at least hinting at that it could set up a future solo Punisher film and the Spiderman film would create a lot more interest. I agree this isn't likely soon but if LGF gives up on the rights and Marvel lets' them use it...it would make for a totally different Spiderman flick. I'm getting tired of everyone of Spidey's aquaintences becoming super villains. Does he know anyone in the films that aren't besides Aunt May? LOL
