Jason Bourne

It's more aggravating given that this trope already happened in the second film. Though we don't know if this'll happen but if it does, it's just a trope that really needs to stop.

Agreed, also a little disheartened and worried that Vincent Cassel is filling in the slot of yet another assassin antagonist. I'm excited for this, but I really hope it doesn't follow too many story beats from the previous movies.

Don't worry, all we need is Anderson Cooper telling us the area is unpopulated and it's 5 o'clock.

I hope they really aren't saying all this stuff was based on a lie.

I was never all that attached to Nicki and Julia Stiles. I really cared about Franka Potente's Marie, and we saw what happened there.

I never got that people complained that Julia Stiles didn't have much to do. I get that she was a bit of an IT girl when the movie came out, but her star has sort of faded. IMHO, she never really nailed her role quite like Franka Potente did. I was razor focused on that relationship.

Yeah, I like all the Bourne films (except Legacy, but that one doesn't count) but it always bugged me that they killed Franka like that. I've loved her since Run Lola Run and their relationship in The Bourne Identity was really one of the highlights. I didn't like how they just killed her off 20 minutes into the next film.

Her death bothered me as well, it's why Supremacy is my least favorite film in the series.

I swear, you and I see eye-to-eye on damn near everything movie related.

Except your rating for Batman v. Superman. It's too high. :cwink:

Supremacy remains the best film in the series, IMO.

I flip-flop so much I find it the hardest trilogy out there to rank in terms of which is best, I guess that shows the strength of the series. I'll watch Ultimatum and be like "thats the best", then I'll watch Supremacy and I'm "heck, this might actually be better" and then I'll go back to Identity assuming its the weakest and be all "damn, I'd forgotten how great this was".

Its the only thing that makes me worry about this new film, its such a tight and neat trilogy I cant see how this improves upon it or will have as much relevance. Trailer looks great though so hopefully they have found something good again to tell a story on.

I definitely think that Supremacy is the strongest one. I would rank them:

1. Supremacy 9/10. Good story and it's the most intense movie in the series. Also Damon's best performance.

2. Ultimatum 8/10. It has the best action of the series, but the story isn't as good as the one in Supremacy. It's also too similar to Supremacy.

3. Identity 7/10. It has a good story, but I find Greengrass to be a better director than Liman. The pacing isn't as good as it is in the other movies.

I always have trouble picking a favorite. I do think Supremacy has the best story but killing Franka just bothered me to the point where I'd probably rank it as my least favorite. Ultimatum is probably the best all around, IMO.. great story, great action, great villain, and some brutally shocking scenes. Identity has a pretty weak story, but the relationship with Bourne and Marie and the action sequences really save it.

It's been so long since I've seen the first two though. I need to rewatch all three before this comes out.

The weird thing is, I thought Cassel was the assassin in the second movie who Bourne fought with the magazine. So the fact they got someone so similar looking and sounding is just weird. I don't know, I'll see this probably, but I'm concerned. Tommy Lee Jones will probably just sit in a chair and react and maybe get out in the field to see Bourne.

I can just see Greengrass on autopilot to just make this in order to get his more original stuff get made while getting a nice fat paycheck.

All I see is Bourne coming back and learning more about his past... I mean what more is there for that??? Unless they came up with some incredible thing that creates a new dimension to the whole mythology.

For me it's

1. The Bourne Supremacy
2. The Bourne Ultimatum
3. The Bourne Identity

...

...

...damn...

...

...

...isn't there anyone one?

...

...

...oh yeah...

...

...

4. The Bourne Legacy

That was Marton Csokas, who I don't think looks anything like Vincent Cassel.

I think the Damon-Bourne films are all equal overall but Supremacy definitely has the most badass moments.

I hope they really aren't saying all this stuff was based on a lie.

The gist I got from the trailer is that even though his real name is David Webb, he can never go back to being that person. The truth about who he is is that he will forever be Jason Bourne.

They're both slick black haired European assassins. They may not look exactly the same, but they're more or less a similar concept and casting type.

Do we know who is doing the score and when is the soundtrack released?

I hope John Powell is back. James Newton Howard is literally my favorite composer, but his score for Legacy was just...fine. This series needs those Powell themes (and beats!).

I never mistook Csokas for Vincent Cassel either, they look nothing alike.

I'd also like some more clarification on just what kind of relationship Bond and Nicky had (she hints at it in Ultimatum) in this film. And yeah, if they kill her off just to set up Bourne's quest (and make Vikander the new main female character) the I'll be really annoyed. Especially since they already did it with Marie, and even Landy kind of (since she's either dead or in prison most likely now). And hey Hollywood, you can have more than one prominent female character in your film without needing to kill one of them off, this is doable you know.

Buckley has scored The Good Wife
Throughout it's entire run and he scored Batman:Arkham Knight

It will be interesting to see how this movie play out now that the amnesiac angle has been removed, and Bourne is acting in a world he understands
