Jason Bourne

Somewhere at Avengers HQ, Jeremy Renner is laughing at Jason Bourne's Rotten Tomato score.

The thing is, for all of it's issues, Legacy at least TRIED to change things up a bit.

Legacy was a disaster of a film. This film may or may not be good but it doesn't absolve Legacy of it's sins.

No, but it might show that the "magic team" of Damon and Greengrass also doesn't guarantee a quality film either, like a lot of fans seemed to think.

The problem with Bourne is that, the plot is a cat and mouse game, and you can only do that for so long.

The first three had Bourne's expertly drawn character arc to hold together the trite plots. This one, from what I'm reading, doesn't tie together Bourne's arc with the plot all that well.

I actually really liked Legacy. The problem was that they had no freaking clue what to do with the last third of the film; I couldn't believe they had the balls to end it like they did. It literally felt like the writer spent all this time making the first half of the movie awesome, and realized in horror that the script needed to be turned in later that day, so he just threw the ending together in a mad dash to meet the deadline.

Yeah the problem with that ending is, there was no ending really. And more to the point, it essentially undoes the ending of Ultimatum in the process.

I'd also say that 2/3 of Legacy is solid. The last third, however, kind of falls apart.

The last set piece also sucked. A poor retread of the Morocco and NYC chases from Ultimatum.

The Super henchman evaporated like steaming water instead of sizzling like they hyped him to be. They missed a beat by not having a throwown with Cross.

The whole super soldier angle was complete crap. It just makes Renner's character even weaker because it's not him doing it. It's his changed genes

I actually like that idea. It's a new spin on things and it avoids just having another naturally "unstoppable badass" like Bourne himself. And it creates a different kind of tension.

Man. Even i'm starting to get discourgared and i'm usually the optimistic type. Besides the major superhero films, this was probably my most anticipated film of 2016. I love those original movies, I cant believe that this wont be a solid film even if it doesnt break any new ground.

Yeah. I'll still go see this film. I wouldn't go see a Legacy sequel if it had a 300% score on RT.

But people don't want different. They want the same according to studio logic.

There's such a serious lack of understanding of what audiences want right now with studios.

Did anyone not see that coming?

With that and the reviews, this movie can just go **** itself now.

Not trying to start ****, but have you seen the film?

No. But I don't need to to know this movie won't be good. Even if this movie or any other movie isn't bad and is just fine, I can't tolerate that. I won't settle for anything less than great if I see a movie now. Especially since movies are getting more and more expensive and I have other expenses of my own, I cannot afford to waste time or money on ****** movies that never needed to be made and were fishy ideas to begin with. These studios can rot in movie hell before they take my money.

I saw the film, and it's not as big of a disaster as The Bourne Legacy.

It's got a very flabby script. It's not as tight and taut and well paced as Supremacy and Ultimatum.

Basically, I'm not really sure what Bourne wants and what he's after at this point. The plot is a bit of a retread.

The Silicon Valley subplot is also weak.

Where I left Ultimatum feeling very energized and thinking "That was badass." This movie left me feeling somewhat unfulfilled.

I'm still not giving Legacy credit. Renner was The Bourne Pretender, and the sci-fi aspects were stupid.

Well I am just going to go see the film without any expectations.
Hopefully, that will help.

by the way,I saw the HBO first look and Matt said that He and Vincent Cassel are the only two guys left from the program.
It doesn't sound like we will ever see Aaron Cross again.
But if Jason Bourne is big hit, who knows?

I think the problem with this one is that there was no script. Litterally no script. At least the original three had something.
Actually, Damon and Greengrass have said that this is the first Bourne film that that had a finished script before filming began.
They might have been better off just writing the script as they went.
After all, it worked gangbusters for them before.

Just came from the film, The Bourne story was a nice follow up post Ultimatum. The subplot regarding security (Silicon Valley) definitely weakened the film. However the cast was strong and worked well.

Out of all the bourne the action set pieces easily the largest.

3 of 5 stars

Is having the largest action set pieces the same as having the best?

Checking this out in a couple hours, going into it with eh expectations after this reception so far. Sounds exactly like what I expected this film to be.
