Jason Bourne

This movie was amazing I am surprised it got the reception that it did.

Having scene Ex Machina, The Danish Girl, and The Man From UNCLE, I already knew that. Them Swedes just go good genes I guess. ;)

The girl is sexiness personified. I liked her before this but here she didn't even dress sexily or have her hair down and she still looked amazing.

Yeah that's the thing. She doesn't need to constantly take her clothes off, or overtly flaunt herself, in order to be sexy. She just is naturally, and Rebecca Ferguson (another Swede) is much the same way.

It's one of the reasons, although certainly not the only one, that (as much as I'd have loved to see Daisy Ridley get it), I'm so looking forward to seeing Alicia playing Lara Croft.

To be fair, this film isn't lighting up the charts critically either.
True, but the box office is significantly better, and money talks. :tmm:

I'd be fine with another Renner film or team-up movie though, just as long as the third act/ending isn't non-existent this time around.

Sorry for bringing this up, but I am wondering why people aren't reacting for this as they are doing for the Suicide Squad rating? Jason Bourne is also rotten in RT, but everyone seems to be cool with this. (And I really loved Jason Bourne).

Because DC fanboys are a whole nother level of crazed and demented. They shall not accept any opinion that does not line up with their preconceived notion already made up about the film. Anything veering from that is a conspiracy, lack of intelligence, or bias. Nothing can be as innocent as a difference in opinion.

This.

I mean you didn't see Fox fans losing their minds when X-Men: Apocalypse got mediocre reviews, or Sony fans for TASM 2, of Disney fans for any number of their live action films, etc.

Or DC fans when Green Lantern got buried. This is a recent phenomenon spurred by the Snyder films.

Well, with Bourne, the critics arent calling it a "bad" movie. The majority of negativr reviews are justvsaying it offers nothing new to them so its...disappointing. For them. SS is getting BAD reviews. Some saying its worse than Fantastic 4.

I loved Jason Bourne though, cant wait to own it on Blu. :)

I very much enjoyed this, but also agree it's easily the weakest of the Greengrass installments. I especially appreciated the direction they took with [blackout]Vikander's character at the end there. That was actually kind of unexpected for me[/blackout]. I'd probably rate it around a 7.5/10.

Yup, I think I fell in love..haha. Fassbender is a lucky man, that's for sure.

Also- In regards to the fans reacting to the poor reviews...The original three Bourne films are highly regarded, so that probably helps. The fact that Bourne Legacy and Jason Bourne have about the same score on RT's is kind of surprising though.

Well, to add to what others have said, JB is just barely rotten. It's sitting at a 57%. While personally I'd like to see it a little higher, I can understand the mixed reviews. I certainly thought that, in spite of it having a weaker script than the original trilogy, it's still better than Legacy - from which it's 1% up! lol

Suicide Squad, on the other hand, is at 31% with an average that's a point lower than JB's (5.9 to SS's 4.9). I guess that's something to be upset over if you're a ravenous DC fanboy.

CBM's are a more tribal mentality when it comes to hardcore fans almost like Sports where you have your team (Marvel/Fox/DC) and then there is an attack/defend mentality to your product and films and a bit of baiting or trolling against the opposition to stir things up as well. Throw in the makers of these films sometimes fanning the flames of competition and it whips people into a frenzy even more.

Pretty much every other film franchise doesnt have that same level of hype. Unless some Bond or MI fans come in here and start trying to stir things up we should be fine, lol. :o

But generally fans of these films like spy films in general be it Bourne/Bond/MI whatever so there are no "sides" to fight for.

So, the Bourne franchise won't get rebooted because the new film got a rotten rating, right? Because at the SS thread, everyone is talking about a reboot of the DCEU.

Bourne is one of my favorite franchises and it would be a shame if they reboot it.

Hopefully, as you said 56% doesn't mean THAT bad, but just that it's "more of the same" and Universal won't consider a reboot. Damon simply owns the role and I want him to stay.

Maybe DC fanboys have higher standards than Bourne fanboys :o

You aren't the only one who fell in love lol. Thankfully I am huge fan of Fassbender so got to give him the credit he is due for getting with the stunning Alicia.

A reboot would only end up like Jack Ryan's reboot. The first few films are still there and will forever be fondly remembered, but i doubt the franchise will ever recapture that magic.

Well, it's the same as Legacy now at 56%, and SS is 29%.

I don't think they'll reboot considering this almost made back its production budget (not including marketing) in one weekend. I wouldn't be surprised if we see another Damon/Greengrass film in the next five years. I just hope they take this one's criticisms to heart.

The biggest problem that this movie seems to have with many people is that it's aggressively, average. Not awful, but not great, just ok. And it doesn't really do anything new or creative with the material.

It's sort of got the Godfather Part III, thing going on where if you look at both of them as their own films, then they're not all that bad. But compared to the previous movie (two in the case of TGF and three in the case of Bourne), which were all great/classics, they seem like significant step down.

I enjoyed it, but I also found it extremely average. Damon was good, Vikander was good and Cassel was good imo. But I found two of the major plot lines to be "blah" and thus I felt a real lack of tension here. And that is what I love about the Bourne flicks, that tension. The way they brought Bourne back into the game just didn't feel real too me.

Yeah the hook to get Bourne back is really flimsy, I agree with that. And once we get going, the plot ain't all that interesting either.

Really it's the cast that makes this movie kind of decent.

I definitely don't think it's as awful or awkward as The Godfather Part III.

TGF PIII doesn't even feel like it's part of the same series as the prior two films to me.

JB doesn't really have that problem. Indeed, it seems to be the opposite: too much familiarity.

I understand what you mean though. I just really don't like TGF PIII.

Agree, cast is good. I liked that guy who worked for Tommy Lee. He also looked familiar which was a bit distracting for me. :funny:
