The Walking Dead Jeffrey Dean Morgan is Negan!

JDM talks about the finale, Negan, and Season 7:

“I didn’t know about the cliffhanger until I watched the show,” Morgan says. “The death of the person will kick off Season 7, and obviously, who is on the receiving end of Lucille will be a big part. I understand the fans’ frustration, I get that. That said, I have to trust these writers, and they know what they’re doing.”

“We’re going to see Negan do some stuff in the next year that’s not going to be very nice, and I may have to approach that from a different angle,” the actor concedes. “I realize Negan is a bad guy, but he’s one of the most well-rounded villains we’re going to see on any screen in a long time.
“He’s got a lot of stories yet to come. It’s going to be an interesting road.”

His performance seems to be universally praised. Which is all that should matter to him.

I've only seen a handful of people complain about Negan. Most of them thought JDM did well.

I thought he was great. I just wish they hadn’t screwed up his entrance so badly.

I don't personally agree that he shouldve been much bigger.

Even Rick in the comics seemed to have a larger build. (as did Thor and Superman) just doesnt translate quite right. I think he's the right physique to mesh with his fellow castmembers.

Yeah, I mean, if we're going to start nitpicking physical appearances, lets start with Andrew Lincoln looking next to nothing like comic Rick. :o

Or David Morrissey not even remotely resembling The Governor.

Yep. Same also goes for Carol, Hershel, Tyreese, Dale, Andrea etc.

Uhhh... Sure.

I think that might be the only one that was reflected in the plot, though. TV Gov was a more underhanded, hidden evil as opposed to the comic Gov being an in-your-face scumbag.

Uhhh... Sure.

Typo with Tyreese. I was mixing him up with T-Dog there. Dale was tubby, stubbly, long haired in the comic;

Not to the Woodbury people he wasn't. Like TV show Guv he pretended he was a Mr. Nice guy to them. Only showed his true colors behind closed doors to Rick and Co, as well as his own henchmen.

JDM lost bunch of weight for Texas Rising

Maybe he thought he needed to stay lean for the Dead

Finally watched the finale, thought JDM was brilliant as Negan and can't wait to see more from him

This Week's EW Cover: The Walking Dead is 'Negan's world now'

Someone on The Walking Dead is already… well, dead. If you think the impact of the show’s biggest villain ever will end when the identity of the finale cliffhanger victim will be revealed in the season 7 premiere on Oct. 23, think again.

According to Jeffrey Dean Morgan, whose character delivered those vicious brain-scrambling blows, the introduction of the leather-clad lunatic last spring is only the beginning. Says the actor — in the appropriate vernacular of the man he is playing — “It’s a reset on The Walking Dead world. It’s f—ing Negan’s world now.”

EW explores that world in full detail in our brand new Walking Dead cover package. What do the cast and producers have to say about the fan reaction to that controversial cliffhanger? Why were some cast members dreading filming the first episode back? What are Carol and Morgan up to in a brand new community titled the Kingdom? Who exactly is King Ezekiel, and how did producers bring his pet tiger Shiva to life?

We have answers to all that and more, including the massive impact Negan will bring to the show in season 7. “What you’re going to see in the first half of this season is Negan wreaking havoc,” says Morgan. “And some of your characters that you’ve grown to love are not going to be on the show anymore, and it’s going to end badly for them. It’s going to be a whole new beginning for The Walking Dead. Really, we’ve taken the show and just flipped it upside down. It’s a different show now. It’s going to have a different feeling. You’re going to see your favorite characters in a position that they’ve never been in before, which is super vulnerable and victimized.”

You’ve been warned.

“And some of your characters that you’ve grown to love are not going to be on the show anymore, and it’s going to end badly for them."

Promises promises.

The Walking Dead: Jeffrey Dean Morgan is swearing up a storm as Negan in season 7

Entertainment Weekly said:
There are certain curse words you may hear Jeffrey Dean Morgan utter as Negan in season 7 of The Walking Dead. There are a few others you may eventually bear witness to when the Blu-ray/DVD sets come out. But there are about a million others taking place on set during filming of the AMC zombie drama, and the only ones lucky enough to see and hear them are the cast and crew of the show.

Morgan has been ensuring that high-octane Negan is always present and accounted for by unleashing a seemingly never-ending stream of profanity during takes. EW was down on the set in Senoia, Georgia, and saw it first hand. Morgan usually gets plenty of PG-13 takes under his belt and then lets it rip, making sure the characters he is sharing scenes with feel the full impact of Hurricane Negan and what they are up against.

“We push it as far as what I can and can’t say,” Morgan explains. “I’ll throw in s—s and hells and Jesus Christs and Goddamns everywhere I can, but even that there’s a limit to. Then they turn me loose. Someone will say, ‘Okay, it’s time.’ That’s all I need to know. That’s when I just go f—ing nuts and I’ll add all the f—s and all the original Negan language. So I memorize it two ways: I learn what’s okay for TV and then I learn the Negan way, which is nothing barred. And I will add every f—, f—ing, f—edy f—, and more, just to f—ing get a reaction.”
