Jeremy Renner in talks to play Hawkeye!

Yeah, I hope they hire him. I don't care if he'd be 40 when Avengers come out. They could use make-up or something to make him look a couple years younger.

well who knows how they want to do hawkeye, maybe they will want him to be slightly older.

well ironman is a different type of character in most incarnations tony was already near/over 30yrs old when he became hero right?

Ever since I was a child reading comics, the majority of the characters in the Marvel U have come off to be in their 30's to me, with the exception of the obviously young members of the Power Pack, New Mutants, and other x-characters.

Yeah I pretty much always assumed all superheroes were around 30-35, except for the younger generations who were specifically stated to be so (like I recall Rogue being said to be college age)

But all of the majors (avengers, f4, hulk, spidey, Giant-sized and O5 X-men) should be in their 30's..

at least that's how I saw 'em

yea pretty much is the case with most superheroes they are roughly in their 30s then a few were young like certain xmen or spider-man.

Jeremy Renner Says He Isn’t Hawkeye

A month ago, an offhand quote from The Hurt Locker lead Jeremy Renner seemed to position him as Hawkeye for Marvel’s upcoming films like The Avengers, and consequently put the geek vultures into a frenzy. Now the actor says it was all for nothing, and that the role isn’t his. We’ve heard these denials before, so the question is: do you believe him?
In November, Renner told Empire that he’d been talking about two in-character appearances with Marvel. He also said, “Hawkeye could be interesting. They’re going to send me some stuff on it, see what it is.” At the time the latter quote seemed like too little to really build expectations on, but the notion of the actor adding meat to what is likely to be a small role was too appealing to ignore entirely.

Now in an interview with Movieline, Renner says there’s no deal.
That was just one of those things that got blown way out of proportion. It was an idea. Those Marvel guys, I’m a big fan of them. They’re so smart about how they want to do these things…So they thought Hawkeye is an interesting role, and asked me if I knew anything about him. I said no, so they gave me their sort of spiel on what he was, and I thought that it was kind of interesting. The only reason it came out this early, because Avengers is two years away, is that they’re thinking OK, we may throw him in Thor, we may not, as a cameo. You know what I mean? So there’s truth that we talked about it, but there’s no truth to me doing it.
Even when actor denials about roles turn out to be false, I’m a fan of taking people at their word. Could Renner still be Hawkeye eventually? Sure, and it would likely be great. But for now we’ll assume it’s as he says, and be thankful if it turns out otherwise.

Well, he only said that he wasn't signed to do anything, which is likely true.

Hawkeye is cool, but I think Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, War Machine (If so), Thor, Hulk and Nick Fury are enough for The Avengers.

I don't think Fury will be an actual Avenger. He may assist in the final battle though.

I really hope Hawkeye gets in. I'd pick either Renner or Chris Pine to play good ol' Clint.

I'd be happy with just the founding Avengers for the film, but I'd really prefer the lifers who didn't quite make it in at the founding if they can manage it. Hawkeye, the Vision, the Scarlet Witch--they may have come along later but they've left an indelible mark on the Avengers' legacy.

well it would be nice if jermey does score the role. But i do think the character is likely to be in avengers since by the talks he semed to have with marvel point in that direction.

If I remember correctly, Sam Jackson denied any and all accounts of being in Iron Man man. :)

yea hopefully we will know more in the next few months. Cause if the plan is still to cameo him in thor and then have a bigger role in avengers. Then they will probably need to get who ever it will be within the next few months so he can come in for a day or two before production is over to do what ever the scenes might be.

If he'll be in the Avengers movie, I have a good feeling we'll see a cameo.

We (at ComingSoon.net) were told by Daniel Craig that he wasn't 007 three weeks before he was officially announced to have been cast. Same with Bradley Cooper/The A-Team and Shia LaBeouf/Indiana Jones 4.

that too could be the case and he is just covering his but before its official.

Exactly.

A few month ago Donner said nothing was being planned with Xmen First Class and now look at the news we have with that. Singer said hes been in talks for awhile before it was announced.

I thought he was great in 28 Weeks Later and Hurt Locker.

He'd be a great Hawkeye.
