I highly recommend this movie to anyone who has ever liked Jim Carrey. I just finished watching it and it packs such a huge impact. Jim's life seems so surreal, it's no wonder he's been a little strange lately. He's always been strange.

Anyone else seen this one yet?

Just watched it. Great insight on the artistic process of taking on a biopic. Also, reminded me to rewatch man on the moon. And to no surpise, it still holds up. especially the ending. Milos Forman (one flew over the cuckoo's nest, people v. larry flynt, amadeus) is an all time great.

I'm more concerned about Carrey's mental health lately. Like he's having a possible breakdown and nobody's paying attention because it's Jim Carrey.

I see where you're coming from Doctor Jones, but in this case I do think Jim is doing pretty well when compared with similarly top caliber comedians. He talks about having beaten his depression and, while he's very existential lately, I do think it's less about sorrow and more about intrigue. He's found a certain sort of magic in the absurdity of existence. And I'm right there with him.

seen half of it last night very interesting indeed I call BS on that palm reader telling him while he was doing in living color that he would do 3 movies next year that would blow him up [Ace, the Mask and Dumb and Dumber]

In this documentary you mean? I watched it yesterday, and not to armchair diagnose, but it doesn't seem to me he's better. I know his girlfriend died of over medication which he blamed himself for. Hence that really weird interview at an even the gave earlier this year. It's hard to judge based on this documentary due to how it's executed and its editing juxtaposed with Carrey now, but just looking at Carrey in the interview stuff himself he seems like he's totally disengaged. I don't know if this is the healthiest way to be. To me it just seems like fame and everything ****ed him up.

I just think it's better to be concerned than to say he's fine because it's just strange behavior, even if it's a normal person. Unless he's enlightened in a way that nobody else is (unlikely given his status) than I think his behavior is worth being concerned about.

As for the documentary. Aside from some touching moments, I just couldn't get over how much of an ******* Carrey was acting. As if Andy Kaufman was actually whispering in his ear and "took over" Carrey. I think he might be so far up his own ass it's more of a retreat from the reality he might have been struggling with and his deeper problems and this was a way to cope. What an inconvenience to the crew where they had to humor him. I couldn't even call it method acting which I think is stupid. Now could have this been the point of the documentary? Yeah, as these things are usually supposed to be objective, but it just personally annoyed me how much of a pain in the ass all because Andy Kaufman meant so much to him.
