I'm totally okay with Jimmy's role in this movie. :P
Yeah, killing off a character usually very close to the main character, while at the same time having a completely random made up character filling in the exact same role Jimmy should be filling, that makes sense.
It's complete nonsense, and nothing other than Snyder saying 'oh, it would be cool to totally **** with the audience and fans, while serving absolutely ZERO purpose in the context of the rest of the film, and character arcs.
A move like this is perfectly ok, and can even be great, IF it serves a purpose in the film. In this case, it serves absolutely nothing other than Snyder himself. It is literally directorial *********ion. The film is full of a LOT of that.
The fact that Snyder thinks they did NOT have room for Jimmy, but DID have room for random intern Jenny shows how pointless a move this was, and how it is just absolutely horrible writing.
I couldn't be happier that his name was cut from the film. I am choosing to ignore it in the credits.
The addition of the dialogue naming him is, so far, the only thing I am NOT looking forward to in the Ultimate Cut.
Hopefully when we finally get a solo Superman sequel, which will almost certainly have a different director, even with Zach sticking around for the JL films, and general over seeing of the universe, they will properly introduce the character.
Even if we consider the Ultimate cut, or the crediting in the theatrical cut, to be canon, we can resolve this by assuming the CIA agent's name was part of his cover.
