JL Casting Call Update

That will never happen.

Too expensive. Too timely. Too complicated.

Unless Bale and Routh have options in their contracts for a JLA movie, they would both command a significant portion of the profits from a JL movie made together. Any new actors for the stand-alone movies would probably command a similar feature to have the JL movie option in the contracts.

What we'd end up with is a bunch of actors that most people are comfortable with from different franchises that have completely different artistic visions that stand around with a butt-load of dialogue and no action (because the special FX budget would be minimal). No business-minded person is going to waste money on all those actors' premiums in lieu of having a good film with good production value (and action -- they've probably learned from SR's mistakes) just to satisfy a few rabid fanboys. They will, as they should, pay a low fee to newbies who can pull off the role in a fresh imagining of the characters while putting in a ton of action and special FX. It also gives them newer, and expanded ways to license the characters for merchandise, etc.

What you all are suggesting will N E V E R happen. Ever. Never ever.

They do have options for a teamup movie. At least I know Bale does.

It's important to remember that during the Batman Begins roundtables at WonderCon in 2005, Christian Bale told us that he had a clause in his contract that one of the three films he was signed on to do could in fact be an ensemble picture.

I think it's fair to say that article is skewed because it was written with speculation in hind-sight. In 2005 JL wasn't even being talked about -- Superman and Superman vs Batman was. In fact, if memory serves, the questions which he answered were geared towards a Superman vs Batman film. That would still be an ensemble film.

As of right now, I have a feeling its gonna be a long time before we see Superman on screen again, be it in M.O.S. or J.L. :(
Hope i'm wrong and we get some real news soon.

well u really shouldnt wory about that i am the knight, nothing is official untill miller or wb officially says one thing or another.

If "ensemble" was specifically cited, it's doubtful that BVS was the film being referred to. A JL film is more likely to be considered an ensemble film, whereas the former would probably be called a team-up.

To answer someone's question about when the script was written and submitted, the Mulroneys were hired on February 22, 2007 and handed in a finshed draft in June. Rewrites ensued and WB decided they had a great shooting draft in September. Without even a treatment from Singer for MOS, they opted to move forward with JLA.

I believe (and this is solely my opinion) that the reason Ras Al Ghul was tossed in to JLA was because it's not a origin film. So they must have felt that simply having Max Lord be the villain as in the comic that this story is taken from wouldn't have made too much sense non-fans.

To answer another question regarding it being 7 to 10 years into the careers of most of the heroes, once again, it is not an origin film of the league. It was said by the Mulroneys that the league has been formed for approx 3 years in their story. This, based on comics, would place Batman over a decade into his own career. Yet he is rumored to be a 21 year old nobody.

In my personal opinion, based on all the flip flopping news and even bad stuff I jumped on and reported, I'm leaning towards the entire leaked (rumored) cast being false. I'm hoping they are all false. Common is the only one that somewhat fits and even he isn't my first choice for Jon Stewart. I'd pick Michael Jai White. But I'm sure studio execs know better than I do..

When someone posts the source with the contextualized quote for what Bale said, I'll believe it.

Anything Robert Sanchez speculates on, or tries to involve his sources on, is suspect to me.

So yesterday I get up to find a post that this moive is DEAD! Today, I see a post that they feel the entire cast we think we have so far is FLASE! Right now with no offical word from WB anything is possible, but I for one am growing very tried of this. I was hoping by this stage of the game we would have our cast and be looking forward to costume or set photos. Wishful thinking on my part I guess.

Well, I did run and picked up the new Super Friends Hour on DVD this morning. So I guess tonight I can start watching alittle bit of old school til this thing sorts it's self out. :) SPACE MONKEYS RULE ...right?

Interesting stuff....I think Emi is right as usual. In the end I firmly belive everything she told you was true but the behind the scenes back and forth tripped her a few times. However, I actually agree with Latino Heat that Robert is pretty much discredited at least on this movie. Emi can also verify that I proposed to her that Robert was Lady M a long time ago and that was based on login patterns....so I can't believe it but I agree with Latino Heat. Can anyone verify the info that Smallville is currently filming episode 14 and is supposed to start 15 next week and be done by like the 20th ? Obviously KK has signed a movie but she has done partial seasons before so I am waiting on that firm surety that TW is free to sign.

As I said in an earlier post, I was told Welling would be free from his shooting commitments as of the 3rd week in January. If someone else is saying that Eps 14 just finished and Eps 15 finishes on Jan 20th, that fits perfectly. It's just one more thing that seems to make everything I've heard look true. I'm getting happy again!

And as for Robert being Lady M, I'm still not so sure about that. I mean, I was the one who emailed him about her trying to pretend she was him and within an hour all her posts were gone. Sure, she came back and was supposedly banned again and we haven;t really seen her again. I don't know. Would be a really ****ed up thing if it were true.

So who thinks I should finally start my own website???

this is so ridiculous, WB needs to open their mouths so that the rumors and lies can be put to rest. They are doing a disservice by being so quiet.

I hope this film gets released for no other reason than to buy the DVD and watch "The making of JLA" featurette, that should be the wildest ride ever included as a DVD extra.

Even if the movie is canned they should come out with a DVD of that!
Hell, if a lot of the rumors are believed to be true it would probably be more entertaining.:woot:

We could at least see how far they got on sets and costumes. If the costume designs are never released, I'll be pretty pissed.

Look:

I Think Robinov pushed the shooting for June or July and it's going to start the auditios, to find better actors for the main roles.

if it does get delayed i doubt it would start in june since the the DGA/SAG strike could be happening then, and they would want to get the majority of the film done by june.

If IESB's assumptions and speculation count, then this should squash that:

http://www.canmag.com/news/4/3/1331

Look, JL wasn't even an idea back then. Everyone was still hot off the SvB film that involved Lex and the Joker. Lex + Joker + Bats + Supes = ensemble too. Bale didn't say "hero ensemble." I know it's nitpicking, but really, ensemble could refer to any theatrical production involving more than 1 person in a starring role.
I defy anyone to find where Bale specifically mentioned having a JL clause in his contract, or even talked (before this JL movie) about potentially being involved in anything but a SvB film.

Bale was talking about doing the SvsB movie. He never agreed to doing a JLA movie.
