JL Casting Call Update

If the marketing is anything like the P.R. has been so far, then I dont think it will be very good.

I could have sworn I read somewhere that supposedly WB was still trying to persuade Biel for the role of WW. Of course, who knows if there is any truth to that all. But if there was, that now has completely been ruled out:

UPDATED 10:54 p.m. PT Jan. 9, 2008

Jessica Biel has been cast as the lead in the romantic comedy "Easy Virtue," based on the Noel Coward play, for London-based Ealing Studios.

Endgame Entertainment is financing the indie project.

Biel plays an American divorcee, Larita Huntington, who travels to the South of France and marries young wealthy Englishman John Whittaker, played by Ben Barnes, on the spur of the moment. The couple return to England to face his unapproving family, including his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Whittaker, played by Colin Firth and Kristin Scott Thomas.

Stephan Elliott is directing the film from a screenplay he and Sheridan Jobbins penned. Ealing's Barnaby Thompson is producing. Principal photography starts next week in London...

you can google a report on this, but I was reading that Biel was set to play WW in a solo movie, but Robinov made a comment that WB wasn't going to make any more movies with women in the lead role (he later recanted) and that WW was just going to be part of JL and that is why Biel dropped out. Not because she thought JL was such a garbage script.

Biel was never quoted as giving a reason as to why she did not accept the role, you're just assuming.

There has been a Sanchez siting...

Emi might be on to something, as of 11/18/07 the cast was locked, they had to extend holds on them because of the delay, Dan Lin was one of the Execs/Producers to head off to Australia right before the holidays to help things get in order down there.

Its possible that the reason things are not locked NOW is because of some recasts that the studio mandated. Will check into it and let you guys know later today.

Recasts? This could be good or bad.

Recasts? This could be good or bad.

I thought the general opinion around here was that the cast was the lowest it can get, so that has to be a good thing, right?

either way the only recast seems plausable has nothing to do with gale/brody/common/palmer... more likely with characters they are not playing...

Where are those Welling fans when you need them??:woot:

A couple of things:

1. If the studio is demanding recasts then this means they don't Miller's judgement. And if that's the case then why did they hire him in the first place?

2. If they are recasting, then I would assume it would be to get more "quality" type actors in the roles. Now, what quality actor is going to sign onto this movie in this stage of the game with the not so great buzz surrounding it? The actor would probably think it's career suicide.

Studio butting in wanting recasts....:whatever:

It depends, though it's not a good rumored cast right now, it can get a whole lot worse.

Hopefully staying in their padded rooms.

1. The only thing that makes sense is Welling, but thats a whole another topic...

2. Aren't a lot of actors freed up because of the strike, so maybe along the way the studio got an actor they liked and was willing to bring on board, barring Millers choice. This could easily happened months ago.

One more thing, don't know if you guys know this...there is a third villain.

little info from Robert

So, this movie has gone from delayed to currently being recast and now there is a third villain in the film. Sounds like a typical week regarding JLA news. :woot:

Well it depends on who you want to believe. I thought there was always going to be a third villian, so thats nothing new, but as Majik said. Recast can be good or bad.

i dunno what to believe anymore

Whats that saying again? Believe half of what you hear, and nothing of what you know. yep.... that sounds about right...

Emi posted on her site that the third villain is Ra's Al Ghul in flashbacks. Wonder who they will cast in the role.

I'd like to request that the Justice League boards be locked until a time when/if we get some sort of confirmation on something, anything!!!!!! :woot:

yeah thats one rumor, but I always thought it was going to be [BLACKOUT]Lex......[/BLACKOUT]

Armie Hammer not Batman...but a villain??

I was just talking with a friend out in LA and he thought I would have heard this by now, but he said Armie Hammer was looked at for a villain and not Batman. Now, this is news that I'm surprised I haven't caught wind of yet.

I'll try and confirm as soon as I can....

http://theinfamousemijayne.blogspot.com/2008/01/armie-hammer-not-batmanbut-villain.html

Ahahaha.... Maybe Common is the Martian, Brody is Aquaman, hell maybe Corona as Lord...

If Hammer ain't Batsy, than that role is gonna come as a complete surprise to me...

Recast = New rumors! I love it. Bring them on! Hammer not Batman, Welling looking more and more like it a lock, A third villain in the mix, and what am I leaving out today? Oh yes! This thing is suppose to start filming in 32 days :). Unless, of course you buy into the rumor of the delay, then it's wide open.

Anyone still talking to the hotel contact? I wonder who's been seen around the pool this week down under? Well, like it was said before in a post above if this strike means that better actors are getting freed up. Then by all means take them this rumored cast had no where to go but up. Still! I was really looking forward to Hammer as Batman for some reason. ;)
