JL Casting Call Update

hmmm is it true is it not, not going to believe anything to WB officially says film is canceled or delayed for a later time.

Yeah, that is what I am thinking Webhead. Too much of this project is rumor such as this, we need more official news.

I think IESB just wanted to report SOMETHING!

Yea i doubt it is true. I think robert from iesb posted this news cause people have been bashing him over in the jla casting threads there about him not posting any news on the site/threads there for over a month or so now. I wont believe this untill i see a report officially from wb saying the film is delayed or canceled. Yes i havent liked most of the rumors reguarding the film or some of the castings besides brody, common, warming up to hammer. Also with emi who been feeding us info from time over there her reports keep saying the film isnt delayed and all that and miller is ready to go, props and sets have and are being made, official word from WETA working on costumes and possibly cgi effects, and reports of some of the rumored cast have been in austrila for weeks now. I dont think they would drop it all now. Yes i know films can get droped out of the blue and they might be worried with this since no big names in the film and how the public will feel about this after the new bat film series and all that.

Thanks for the news Thunder Emperor. If you don't mind, I'll open a new thread with it giving you credit for posting it first.

Some films get dropped even when cameras are rolling, it's just the nature of the beast, nothing is certain in the film industry.

Yea i know that is what i was saying. but since we dont know what the hell is really going on with this project i wont believe anything untill official word from WB.

WB really haven't done anything to debunk any rumours, either they know what they're doing and are keeping everything secret for some big reveal, or they're stuck with an obstacles ridden project and seriously don't know how to proceed.

could be but if it is going to be delayed or scrapped all together for a later time they should come right out and say so. Yes it would be great if this diaster was scrapped so then maybe they might get a flash, gl, ww solo films out within the next 2-3 yrs along with batman 3, and SR2, so then doing a jla film then would be better(hopefully).

Justice League of America has Been Delayed!

Justice League of America will not start shooting as originally planned.
I get the emails daily from our readers asking what is going on with JLA, yes there has been an incredible amounts of delays and there wasn’t much of answer coming from our sources, until today.

There hadn’t been much of a slowdown as preparations were still underway over at Australia's Fox Studios as artists, set designers and other crew were busy prepping the film before the Holiday break but why hasn’t the cast been officially announced?

“Justice League is indeed in danger of not starting production on time and maybe even getting scrapped altogether” is what a studio source told the IESB last week. "The concerns are that the script is not ready to go in front of cameras, and also that the budget is getting a bit out of control, the WGA strike has proven to be Kryptonite to Superman and friends."

http://www.iesb.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=4059&Itemid=99

So while the cast is apparently locked, the studio has had to go back to the actors and extend their holds. IESB was told that at least two high level studio execs headed to Australia right before Christmas to try to resolve these issues and get the film get back on schedule.

“George Miller really wants this movie to be way big but the cast is 100% unknowns,” our source continues.

Another problem we are hearing is that some upper level execs including the new big boss Jeff Robinov is not too sure if the timing is right for JLA. Most of it has to do with the Nolan camp not being happy with the decision of moving forward with the JLA film considering the positive buzz surrounding The Dark Knight.

So what is going to happen? “The cast for Justice League is mediocre, the execs know it's mediocre, it's going to go down to wire on this one, this movie cold be huge but right now it's plagued with a couple of big issues and the WGA strike isn’t making things easier,” our source tell us.

So what's the final verdict on Justice League? I was having dinner this evening when I got a call from one of our moles over at Warner Bros. who told us, "Justice League has been pushed back to at least April or May and possibly a start date as late as June or July…that is of course if the movie doesn't get scrapped altogether."

So there you go, our first update of JLA of the year. On a side note, I was really pumped for this film last year but now I am waiting eagerly for the day WB decides to go in a different direction and cancels this production.

This cast does not inspire anyone and really makes you wonder if Warner Bros. is that desperate for cash that they would be willing to risk destroying a franchise in the making. We have all talked about the poor choices for Superman and Batman. Really? "C & D" list actors for the greatest Superheroes that have ever been created? With the exception of Adam Brody, Teresa Palmer and Common this cast sucks 100%. I have one question to everybody over at Warner Bros., how in the name of Zeus' butt hole did Jay Baruchel get cast as Maxwell Lord? Really? I mean, really? Skinny, dorky Jay Baruchel? Don’t get me wrong, he's a great guy and a hilarious actor. He's great in Fanboys as the geeky friend…but Maxwell Lord? Ummm, I don't think so.

I'm done, I want to go slit my wrists the more I think about the **** that studios like to do in this town. It literally boggles the mind, well, what I have left of one.

I don't want to sound pessimistic but this is the best news I've heard regarding the project. Even if it is fro IESB.

let me shine on this...

Alright, his studio source just retold us what a lot of people have been stating...

“George Miller really wants this movie to be way big but the cast is 100% unknowns,” our source continues.

Wait, hes casting unknowns so that graphics is ridiculous?!?

Another problem we are hearing is that some upper level execs including the new big boss Jeff Robinov is not too sure if the timing is right for JLA. Most of it has to do with the Nolan camp not being happy with the decision of moving forward with the JLA film considering the positive buzz surrounding The Dark Knight.

I thought those "upper level" execs wanted this movie in the first place? Thats why it was suppose to come out in 09, and thats why they scrapped the sequel to MOS. And his studio source is telling us that the main reason of it not going forward is because Nolan is mad? seriously? You don't have to worry about positive buzz when movies are coming out a year from each other....

Than wait till the strike is over, nothing wrong with that...

Fine push it back, as I said there is nothing wrong with waiting a month or two to make sure you got everything fine...

If I were the WB I would just kill Justice League for now and go with The Dark Knight, Superman: Than Man Of Steel, try like crazy to get either a solo Flash, Wonder Woman or GL movie off the ground then revisit JL because right now this movie looks like a train wreck waiting to happen.

I wake up this morning to find reports of this thing being pushed back or even worse FLATLINED now? GRRRRRR! Can IESB ever make a fresh report? They seem to recyle the death out of things that we have already heard countless times. This movie has actors on set, it has sets being built, it has people designing costumes, it has a director comfirmed by the water tower at WB. This movie maybe won't start on time, but it is coming. Sure, the Writers Strike is bad and it's not helping matters. But the WB wants to break them (Writes Union) they have to push onwards and get this done now. My company has gone though union strikes before and being in middle managment I can tell you the higher ups all want business to happen with out missing a beat. The folks in the tower want one thing...$$$$$$$$$$. Make no mistake this thing is going to happen. Let's just pray it works. :)

well things don't look good. Thank god they are making two more Lord of the Rings films, at least I have something to look forward to.

I hope this movie is completely canceled. Enough is enough.

Have you heard Kevin Smith's story about The Six Million Dollar Man? One team of executives wanted the film extremely bad - then they were replaced - and guess what? That new team didn't want the film any more. Basically, nothing is for certain in the film industry. And even more so with a film like this.

I have one question to everybody over at Warner Bros., how in the name of Zeus' butt hole did Jay Baruchel get cast as Maxwell Lord? Really? I mean, really? Skinny, dorky Jay Baruchel? Was there anything even remotely near official about that?

The only thing I read was Jay = Henchman (not unlike Kal Penn, who was wasted in Superman Returns).

If this is incorrect, I'm not sure how that makes me feel about the report on the whole.

That will never happen.

Too expensive. Too timely. Too complicated.

Unless Bale and Routh have options in their contracts for a JLA movie, they would both command a significant portion of the profits from a JL movie made together. Any new actors for the stand-alone movies would probably command a similar feature to have the JL movie option in the contracts.

What we'd end up with is a bunch of actors that most people are comfortable with from different franchises that have completely different artistic visions that stand around with a butt-load of dialogue and no action (because the special FX budget would be minimal). No business-minded person is going to waste money on all those actors' premiums in lieu of having a good film with good production value (and action -- they've probably learned from SR's mistakes) just to satisfy a few rabid fanboys. They will, as they should, pay a low fee to newbies who can pull off the role in a fresh imagining of the characters while putting in a ton of action and special FX. It also gives them newer, and expanded ways to license the characters for merchandise, etc.

What you all are suggesting will N E V E R happen. Ever. Never ever.
