Joe Wright to Helm 'Pan'

A tribe of people living on a fantasy island where people never get older.

Problem? :o
Not to mention the majority look like transplants brought there by Blackbeard. But pay it no mind. :o

This is one of the few times I'll say it, but I wholeheartedly agree with my old nemesis. This looks spectacular :hrt:

:woot:

This looks beautiful. I'm interested.
Beautiful is a good way of describing it. :)

I was skeptical based on the premise and some of the casting, but this actually looks like a lot of fun.

Finally saw the trailer and I thought it looked promising. It helps too that I'm a huge Wright fan and worst case scenario, it at least looks like a fun hammy Jackman performance and that alone is worth my ticket. :awesome:

This could be either really, really great or really, really bad. There is no middle ground. But I am all in, because the creative potential is high.

Looks a lot closer to Hook than I was expecting. I happen to love that movie but I'm not completely sure that's a good thing.

Like Crowe said there is no middle ground with this one. It will either be incredible or flat out awful.

Didn't they already make this movie in like 2005 with Jason Isaacs?

I guess it wasn't an "origin" story.

I'm sorry, I cannot approve of Rooney Mara playing an Indian princess. That is Hollywood whitewashing at work.

Tiger Lily casting fail aside, this does look promising. Jackman looks like he's having the time of his life. Hedlund's performance seems weird, but it's just a trailer so I'm not gonna judge out of context. The visuals look great, but it's Joe Wright, so that's hardly a shock.

For some reason I broke out laughing at the scene when Jackman gives a thumbs down. The look on his face is priceless. It's incredible how well Jackman can do both comedic and dramatic.

Yeah, Jackman looks like he's having a blast.

I really like the Elizabethan influence on the Pirates design here. Jackman's Blackbeard looks like the unholy offspring of Francis Drake and William Shakespeare. It's a striking look.

And I really like Hedlund. Should be fun to see how they play his Hook going evil.

Did you expect them to call him James Hand?

He's only ever been known as 'Hook', apparently, and his real name was never given.

Even in 1991's Hook, Wendy called him 'Captain James Hook'. I don't see what the problem is now all of a sudden.

I think it was 04. And that was a great adaptation of Peter Pan. It's probably the closest to the book of any film adaptation.

This does look interesting. Though the Tiger Lilly casting is a huge fail, I agree. I'm on board with everyone else, this is either going to be amazing or awful.

I thought he's referred to as Captain James Hook in the original play and novel?

I need to rematch the Peter Pan from 2004. I just remembered Tinkerbell being super beautiful.

It is weird with Tiger Lilly. I've been trying to be fair about it, but it's so off-putting.

It seems like her tribe is this multi-cultural techi-colored vibe going on with a Polynesian look. I 'get' it.

AT the same time, how often do Native American actresses get to be in big movies? Rare as hell. Once every 4 years with every Night at the Museum with Sacajawea, haha?

i read a comment that they made the tribe multi-colored. i think its true.

and YET..............SHE IS WHITE

Either way you are taking a character that is always meant to be Indian and making her white, it's just annoying at this point.

Do we know if Tinkerbell is in this movie?

Joe Wright gets me. Keira Knightley, Cate Blanchett, Rosamund Pike, Jena Malone, Carey Mulligan, Kelly Reilly, Saoirse Ronan, Talulah Riley, Shirley Henderson, Holliday Grainger, Kelly MacDonald, Jessica Barden, Juno Temple, Olivia Williams, and now Rooney Mara.

I love his choice for Tiger Lily. Love it. :yay:

Ludivine Sagnier.
