Joe Wright to Helm 'Pan'

What's with the title? "Pan"? What's wrong with Peter Pan? That's his name, for dawg's sake.

I like the title for the movie Peter Pan has already been use but Pan hasn't until now!

He has to earn 'Peter'. ;)
good one.:woot:

i like the stupid SHH (i also was that naive hehe) classics:
''i hope they call him the name at the end. i hope he gets the classic suit at the end'' :lmao:

Hahaha. :D

At the end of the film, we'll find out his name is Robin Peter Pan.

And that a pirate named Blackbeard has been asking about him...dun dun dunnnn.

"My real name is KHAAAAN... I mean, PAAAAAAHN"

I'm really conflicted on the Rooney Mara casting. On the one hand, she's a great actor who will probably do a good job, and I always like seeing her pop up in movies. On the other hand, it'd be nice if Native American parts could be played by, you know, Native American actors.

Heard that they were considering Lupita Nyong'o for Tiger Lilly. Perhaps they didn't choose her because of the fact that her name has now been linked to Star Wars Episode 7.

Are there even any Native American females around

So some people have issues with Rooney as Tiger Lily yet no one says anything when Akhtar is cast as Smee? Hmmm.

I don't have any issues with either casting but find that interesting.

Smee is a villain. so no problem. :wow:

Personally there has been so many version of Peter Pan that I don't mind an Indian actor playing Smee. White usually the default race for everything, so I don't mind but it depends on the circumstances. For example, I don't mind a black Perry White, but I want to keep Superman white.

With Tiger Lily, it's the issue that we don't often see many Native American actresses in mainstream Hollywood; and when there's a specific role for them, it gets taken away, haha.

But in Rooney's defense, she's a great actress and she has (a cliche, I know) exotic looks where she can pull off being ambiguous looking, more so than her sister. Another ambiguous looking actress is Olivia Wilde, in whom I was convinced was half-Asian. Especially in Her. haha.

Q'orianka Kilcher, although she's not full blooded since her mother is German.

The only full blooded Native American actors are Wes Studi and Adam Beach.

I know the chick that plays Sacagawea in the NATM flicks is like half white and half Japanese.

Her name is Mizuo Peck. She's very pretty and actually has some Cherokee in her. And wow, she's a bit older than I thought she was.

About the name. Maybe they're calling it Pan so people don't watch it expecting to see the classic story (since this is a prequel). I'm sure they'll name the/a sequel Peter Pan. Probably the one that tells the original story.

It's just the trendy thing to do now. Sherlock, Dredd, Arrow, Pan etc.
