Joey Q named "Man of the Year"... WHAT THE F***?!?!?!?!

There are a couple of issues of 'Firestorm' I'd also like to throw in there but I won't.

na #22 was actually a really good issue

Of course there was lots of better stuff, but there is no award in the world where the best thing/person wins.

Its disappointing to see people claim the last issue of IC was the best of '06. Even DC having changed it in the reprint are admitting it wasn't as good as it could have been.

Pretty much anything written by Vaughan is better than NA #22, DMZ, Checkmate, X-Factor list goes on, but its one magazine, one opinion and one that shouldnt matter to you personally.

Exterminators
Infinite Crisis #4-7
Infinite Crisis Special
First four issues of Superman: Up, Up, & Away
Catwoman: the 'ish right before OYL and the 1st ish following OYL
'52' - Eleven or Twelve - The one that takes place during the "Cult Conner Resurrection Ceremony"!
Fables - Take your pick
All-Star Superman #3, #4, etc...

...I know there's a lot of DC stuff there, but still...
Do you read any Marvel to speak of? I mean, I'm a DC fan myself, but I could name 20 Marvel issues from this year that were better than, say, anything in Catwoman.

Okay, okay, okay. If I owned Wizard Magazine, this is how my list would look...

MAN OF THE YEAR: Ed Brubaker
EVENT OF THE YEAR: Planet Hulk
BOLDEST MOVE OF THE YEAR: 52
WRITER OF THE YEAR: Brian K. Vaughan (Y: The Last Man, Runaways, Ex Machina, Dr. Strange: The Oath, Pride of Baghdad)
ARTIST OF THE YEAR: Steve McNiven (Civil War)
BOOK OF THE YEAR: Daredevil
HERO OF THE YEAR: Captain America
EDITOR OF THE YEAR: Steve Wacker
COVER ARTIST OF THE YEAR: J.G. Jones (52)
BREAKOUT TALENT OF THE YEAR: Charlie Huston (Moon Knight)
SINGLE ISSUE OF THE YEAR: Ultimates 2 #12 by Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch
NEW CHARACTER OF THE YEAR: Batwoman (Kate Kane)
COMEBACK OF THE YEAR: Moon Knight
VILLAIN OF THE YEAR: Alexander Luthor
MINI-SERIES OF THE YEAR: Batman and the Mad Monk by Matt Wagner
DEATH OF THE YEAR: Gert (Runaways #18)

**** you, Mini-series of the year is easily Annihilation.

You know, I think they got that one right. Hitler was man of the Year once. It's not so much about whether what you've done was popular or anything, it's about how much you've done that's effected whatever it is you do. In Joey Q's case, he has demanded the attention of fanboys and girls all over. Negative or otherwise, doesn't matter. Name one other person that has people screaming for his death, dismemberment, or at least resignation in comics today? You can't. So the award goes to him, and rightfully so.

I would also like to say, I love Wizard magazine. Do they cater to the writers and artists a lot? Sure. Small price to pay for some intriguing articles and exclusive interviews and artwork though. All i've seen is people b***hing about the mag because they don't agree with the praise set forth to some in the industry. I ignore it if I don't agree. But hey, that's just me. Apathetic God of Death and all that.

Dude, I buy Wizard every month for the same reasons.

You can't be apathetic.

I mean, how can people be that uptight that they would pass up an article giving you a step by step behind the scenes from the writer and the Artist for every issue of Crisis on Infinate Earths, or a top ten comicbook battles ever (even if you don't agree with every choice, it's a good way to find out about stuff you never read before. That's how I found out about James Robinson's Golden Age, and Planetary.) The book rocks and I'm kinda sick of all the bashing it gets all the time. And for the stupidest of reasons too.

What I do? Did I not use that word right? I don't mean this as an insult or anything I just would like to know so that I can learn use it properly.

And its not like Wizard doesnt try, when She-Hulk first started out, they made it Book of the Month with a two page review.

They do stuff like that all the time. Taking an intrest in books that the avarage non internet fanboy hasn't heard about. Matt Fraction's Casanova, the Exterminators, they even did a big thing on the Crossgen stuff back in the day. Pushed it even though nobody was buying it. (myself included.)

You said you liked something. Apathy means you simply don't care about anything.

I'm just being a jerk. Don't stress it. :woot:
