Action-Adventure John Wick: Chapter 4

I've always loved Keanu and for me, this series was more enjoyable than the Matrix stuff. It certainly hurts my brain less, lol. I hope they make 10 of these!

I've loved every Matrix movie and firmly believe the first film is one of the best movies ever made. I think John Wick has sort of filled that spot for me for this generation and I really couldn't be happier. I sometimes see people say these films have strayed from what the first movie did, but honestly, what other main stream franchise has fight scenes this cool and innovative? Plus the cinematography, lore and atmosphere is striking! So long as the movies keep being as entertaining as they are, I'm gonna be there opening day. I love this franchise!

Surface similarities aside I think it's totally apples and oranges as far as comparing this to The Matrix IMO, but I really think the John Wick franchise is kind of a unique entity at the moment in terms of blending the excess of 80s action movies/violence with modern stylization/cinematography/action choreography. I mean, idk, maybe the Fast franchise does something similar for but I admittedly haven't seen any of those in the past decade.

It's self-aware in its ridiculousness but also knows exactly where that line crosses with straight badassery and rides that line perfectly. The world-building and lore is fun and adds a lot of mystique, but it's also entirely possible to watch these movies with your brain off just for the action and still have a lot fun with it.

Can't wait for Chapter 4.

The action looks next level, the car sequence looks insane! I didn't realize they'd shot it at the Arc de Triomphe like the sequence in Mission Impossible: Fallout.

I love the Wick movies so I know I'll enjoy those. Some of the shows are a mixed bag, the ones i haven't finished anyhow. Pushing Daises is wonderful.

Wish I could go to the theater to see this when it comes out. I’m pretty much indisposed, due to my current physical condition preventing me from sitting for no more than an hour and spontaneously having to use the bathroom pretty frequently, so, it would pretty much defeat the purpose. Going to have to wait for the home video and digital release.

I was actually referring to watching the series for the first time about 8 years ago on blu ray at home. I appreciate the sentiment, though.

But, who knows, I might do a rewatch sometime in the near future. There’s a ton of movies I’ve been meaning to show my brother-in-law that he hasn’t seen. Maybe I can get him to join in.
