Tennant is not my preferred choice for The Riddler. It's just I'd prefer him over Johnny Depp. No doubt Depp is one of the most talented actors, but that doesn't make him right to play Riddler. I think Tennant is a fine actor. Just because he hasn't done anything major like Depp, doesn't mean he lacks the talent. Comparing Tennant and Depp to Joe Jonas and Paul McCartney is just ridiculous.
Joe Jonas has talent too. If Tennant was on Depp's talent level, he wouldn't be on Dr. Who.
Well...he was in a Harry Potter movie

.
I'm not judging these guys based on who has been in more films, or who has been in bigger films. I'm judging them by their talent. Both men have talent. I just think something like the Riddler would be better suited for Tennant than Depp. I mean, jesus, Tennant isn't even in my top 10 choices for The Riddler. To each his own, I guess.
In what way is Depp wrong for Riddler? Explain that.
Plus, since when has a studio ever cast someone that was popular amongst the fans? If that were the case, we'd probably have either Crispin Glover or Christopher Eccleston as The Joker. I doubt Depp will be considered for the part.
Crispin Glover was as hated by fans as he was supported. This same studio cast Bale, an unknown fan favorite, for Batman.
Personally, I'd like to see someone like Johnny Depp or Sacah Baron Cohen revolutionize the character in a way that comic writers pick up on the portrayal, and thus The Riddler becomes much more dominant and fearful than he's previously been viewed.
Sacha Baron Cohen would be inspired casting.
First off, what I meant was that a studio has never cast someone because they were a fan favorite.
And if they cast Depp, it wouldn't be because they were a fan favorite...it would be because Depp is one of the most remarkable actors of the modern era.
Secondly, it would not be a bad movie if Nolan decided not to cast Depp. Nolan is god in the Batman universe. It's a fact that whoever he'll cast will be great.
It's a fact? Do people not remember the fact that Nolan cast not only Katie Holmes, but Maggie Gyllenhaal? And before people try to respond with "WB FORCED KATIE HOLMES ON NOLAN!!$1!11!" they are full of poo. WB required a love interest - not Katie Holmes.
It's not like he's going to make a bad decision. He's known for casting against the norm.
Complete bull.
Christian Bale's most renown performance was playing a rich guy with a secret life.
Liam Neeson was known as a mentor.
Michael Caine...no explanation needed.
Who could have pictured Aaron Eckhart playing a charismatic political figure...you know, outside of anyone that has seen Thank You For Smoking.
Cillian Murphy just looks like a creep.
Should I go on?
I don't think Heath Ledger made anyone's top 10 choices for who the Joker should be played by, and look at how that turned out. I'm quite positive that Nolan is going to look at other people besides Depp, assuming he returns for a third film.
People confuse the fact Heath Ledger wasn't on anyones radar with Nolan casting out of left field. It's wrong.
Just because Depp has displayed interest, doesn't mean he should be The Riddler. Nolan isn't going to cast someone in the role simply because they are a huge movie star. He's going to cast someone that fits his vision of The Riddler, and I doubt he's going to let fans influence his decision.
I don't think anyone thinks Depp should play the Riddler SIMPLY because he has displayed interest.
While Depp is not a *****e in any sense of the word, I'm worried that he might be a Ledger to the Riddler. Not the brilliant acting part, but the totally changing the character part. In class, I draw the Joker alot, the comics one, and the first reaction to the art by my peers is not one of praise, but one of, "That's not what the Joker looks like", so I have to explain that Ledger's representation of the Joker is, in fact, not the rule, but the exception.
Depp IS a *****e in some sense of the word.
Wow, you obviously can't read because I never said I saw Depp as just a big star. I clearly stated that I thought Depp was talented. At this point, he's nothing more than a fan favorite. How is he anything more than that? Yes, he's a good actor, but he's currently just a fan favorite. How the hell do you think the question was brought up to him? If it wasn't for fans clamoring for him to be Riddler, he would have never been asked and gave the answer that he did. So how the hell are the fans NOT trying to influence the decision? If there was no interest in Depp for Riddler, he probably would have never gave the answer that he'd try and juggle it around.
Just because he said he'd be interested doesn't mean he'll get it. The dude is a megastar, who probably has tons of projects lined up, and depending on when WB decides to make this, it might not fit into his schedule. Just because he said he'd try and juggle it around doesn't mean he'll be free.
How does The Riddler not being The Joker have ANYTHING to do with what I was saying? Seriously. It doesn't matter what the character is. Most of Nolan's casting decisions are people that fans had never thought of, or had listed in their top choices.
Also, just because you bow down and worship Depp doesn't mean everyone else does. Depp isn't the only star out there. There are dozens of equally talented people that I think could turn the role into something spectacular.
I said that Nolan isn't going to look at Depp just because the fans are demanding it. He's going to look at whoever fits his vision of the character, whether or not Depp is included. It matters not that Depp said he's interested. Brian Austin Green said he was interested in the Riddler. It's Nolan's game, and I'll be damned if some whiny fanboy is going to influence his decision.
Seriously, read what I say before you sit there and make yourself look stupid.
This post just makes me giggle.
