A manip for Bettany.

I think Nolan should go with another actor not well known. So I am so not wanting Jake Gyhenall to play joker. Maybe Liev Schriber. And Peguin should be played by Bob Hoskins. Not a comic joker or comic joker like the ****ty ones Tim Burton made. I loved Batman Begins it was more darker and "scarier" Thaks

Gyllenhaal and Schreiber are in the running for Two-Face, not The Joker. Gyllenhaal, personally, has always struck as me someone who can do a great Joker, but he's too young. He's also too young for Two-Face. Schreiber is perfect for Two-Face but not right in any way for The Joker. And yes, Hoskins should play The Penguin, but rumor has it that he doesn't want it.

Personally, I think Gyllenhaal has the ability to be any of the three villains.. I just hope he lands one.

I would love to see a pure evil, and diabolical Joker on the big screen, if he is choosen next for the sequel. (I'd rather see other villian first.) But if they went with The Joker I like the look of him in the Batman Dead End Short Film:

I think that is a great look with the straight jacket, but eventually get him out of the straight jacket and into the famous purple attire, but not a bright purple, more of a dark purple. And of course he would have to be insanely funny, not too campy or over the top, but just insane to the point where your like whoa, and it sends shivers down your spine when your watching him on the screen.

I am not really sure who I would go with for an actor on The Joker, I will get back to you on that one.

Great official Joker thread by the way.
Fantastic PIcs where did you get the pic from?

Hoskins is too old for Penguin. Plus he's not really that popular anymore, I'm all for Phillip Seymour Hoffman

That great pic of the Joker came from Dead End.

Collora got his character spot-on.

I'm gonna go ahead and throw in a new Joker suggestion because I'm getting tired of all the suggestions out there right now.

JP Manoux.

He's mostly a TV actor. But I saw him in Starship Troopers 2 (yes, I saw Starship Troopers 2...and it wasn't even that bad!) And he delivered a great performance. I could totally see him pulling off the Joker.

Now just because I say this it doesn't mean I expect him to get the part. I'm just trying to stir up the pot a little.

He did the actual character of Joker very well, but I do not like the Cat eyes nor the eye brows nor the toxic green hair.

Dead End Joker was horrible.

made me want to barf.

But Bettany with Lime Green hair wearing lipstick screams more like The Joker to you?

I really dont understand why Batman fans dont want characters to look faithful. DE Joker was faithful to the appearence in the comics recently. Some of these Bettany manips and comments lead me to believe that some of you would be content with him as is, with Pale blotchy skin, lime green 'copper bowl" hair, wearing red lipstick and a plain suit. That aint the Joker, he resembles the character in DE more along the lines of the source material. He isn't a Drag-esqe Eddie Izzard look-a-like frowner.

We do manips with what we are given so the hair comment is flat out stupid - come on, ITS HAIR! It does grow, change, can be cut, can be extended that is not an issue. I want the Joker to be Joker White, not blotchy skin - just because the artest that did the most professional Bettany manips used that idea does not mean that all Bettany fans want it that way. Bettany does have the face shape for the Joker, when you get sideways shots on his face his chin is quite noticable and has that Joker curve.

Also just saw some clips of the movie Dogville and Bettany uses an American accent through the entire film and does a very good job of it. Asked my sister to guess where Bettany is from and she said America. So Bettany haters put that issue to rest.

Also there have been instances of the Joker wearing lipstick - look at TDKR. I have no problem with the joker using lipstick or even dying his hair by himself., I do oppose him wearing white make up however.

I don't really like the lipstick idea. To make his lips turning red more realistically, you could go for a more crimson-esque color, and perhaps make his lips look a bit weathered, almost disfigured. Bloated. Enflamed.

As for the hair... suspension of disbelief. I mean you do have to have a little... and I don't think it would be too big of a stretch that his hair turns green.

I just dont think that the Joker using lipstick or dying his hair hurts the character at all. The white skin though is a must IMO.

You know, it wasn't until recently that I realized, if they're going for realism, Joker HAS to dye his hair. While a chemical could conceivably turn hair green, there's no way it could keep it from growing back in it's original color, could it? I'm not hair dye expert or anything, but is it even possible to dye your hair so it always grows back that new color? I dont think there is. I dont know why I never thought of that. Perhaps, Joker's hair is turned green, and he likes the color so he dyes it? Honestly, I hope they just never go into it. I'm really hoping Joker just looks the way he looks, and that's it. He could dye his hair and wear lipstick, or it could be naturaly. it should simply never be stated, left up to the imagination.

there is way too much insight on these pages lmao. Who cares if The Joker dyes his hair, come on guys it's just a freaking character. No one thinks about this kind of stuff except for the posters here lol. Do we need to know what if Joker wears boxers or briefs too?

The green hair is part of the character, like the horns to Batmans mask is part of why he's calls himself Batman. I for one, DO care. I don't think Tim Burton had the same thought when he made Joker appear in 89, he knew it was one of the characters attributes, and kept true to the comics.

I'm sure Nolan is going to do the same.

The hair, lips, face need to be a certain color - its a big part of the character. As Kat said though, there doesnt need to be an explination about it though.

Exactly what I was thinking, Batman. :joker:

Good thinking then, I mean why change the characters appearence all of a sudden? Theres no need for it, and I'm sure Nolan has no intention on doing so.
