Look at Dafoe. That is so sweet. He looks so sinister, psychotic, and just plain mental. He is a perfect fit!!! His grin is so perfect!!

DAFOE IS THE JOKER!!!! :joker:

Look at this one done by deDIKnight. The one I posted before with Dafoe's real picture was also done by deDIKnight.

deDIKnight: Well I'm drawing a Joker/Bat Comicstrip right now and I'm using manips of Dafoe as refs

Heres the updated FULL GRIN VERSION

That is absolutely AWESOME for Joker. He is perfect for the part. This picture says it ALL!!!

Willem Dafoe won´t want to play Joker, since he´s already Green Goblin. He´d be afraid of the typecasting.

I´d like someone not very famous, someone like Glover or Cassel or Hulme. Part of the problem with 89 is they got Jack Nicholson to play the Joker, saw him as the big selling point of the movie, and basically handed it to him and put Batman in the corner. I want a terrific actor who won´t be given every pun and one-liner in the world just to be more time on screen.

If Only Dafoe hadnt played The Goblin - He'd Be Perfect;)

But Alan Cumming isnt coming back in Xmen 3 as Nightcrawler.....

Batman Sequels could pilfer him as Mr. J

'Course they could give it to Marilyn Manson

I'd love to see Bales bat give him a good kicking

Joblo has posted an interesting rumour

Sean Penn as Joker???

A bit out of left field but I sure as hell dont hate the idea.

Even though he may not have the expected appearance he sure would bring the intensity and physicality for the role and Nolan sure seems to be bringing top drawer actors to this franchise.

What do you guys think?

I always shrugged off the idea of using Hammil for Joker, but those manips are somewhat convincing. nice!

He sure is. DAAAMNNN!! Why not? If Berry can be 2 superheroes, why can't Dafoe be 2 villans?

I'd be cool with Penn as The Joker.

IN FACT ....heres a drawing I did. Im convinced. :)

I honestly always pictured Dafoe as a better Joker than a Green Goblin...then again, with out the horrible costume...the green Goblin and Joker have a lot of similiarities...I could see people comparing his Joker to the GG. They'd both be Psychotic and crazy, I just think Being the Joker would give Dafoe more freedom to be more crazier.

It is really a toss now between three people:

Crispin Glover for the Creepy Joker
Willem Dafoe for the Spot-On-Looking Crazy Joker
Sean Pean for a absolutely different serious Joker.

And between those three, Crispin gets it hands down:
Amazing Actor (Watch Willard)
Potential "Unknown"
Creepy as hell

Sean Pean is to far a direction left it is just so insane to cast him as a Jokester, watch him in Mystic River, he isn't a jokey type, and he is ugly as sin.

Willem Dafoe would be original choice, but he was already Green Goblin and that's Spiderman's MAIN villian, and the JOKER is batman's MAIN villian, he can't be in two comics at the same time, ridiculous.

Penn is a great actor.I was wondering if anyone has seen "The Assassination of Richard Nixon" starring Sean Penn. There is a scene where Penn, with his face covered in blood and brains holds a gun to a womens head and has an INSANE look on his face.I'll try to find a picture.I still like Glover and Roth, but Penn would be great. He'd also make a good Riddler.

The thing I hate is that fans assume Penn will be uptight and serious in the movie, like he is in real life.

He's an actor for christ's sake! Look at Fast Times At Ridgemont High, he can play a goofy character as well.

He's almost perfect for the role. :D

To all those saying that Dafoe shouldn't be cast because he'd be in two comic based films at the same time: He wouldn't be. The Green Goblin is dead! The biggest role he'd have in Spidey would be a cameo ala Spidey 2. And besides, Jessica Alba is in 2 comics "at the same time": Sin City and F4/

I think Cumming might get it since he's not coming back in Xmen 3

But Go Go Dafoe!!!

Here's a little tidbit about Roth and what he thinks about starry roles etc. :joker:

Roth has a natural talent for handling weirdos and degenerates. As Myron, in Stephen Frears' The Hit -- billed beside John Hurt, Terence Stamp and Fernando Rey -- he's bagged an excellent role to make his movie debut. In a superb portrayal of the trainee hoodlum, what seems like a superficially charming character with a dangerously malicious streak turns out to be a doomed, misled youth filled with pure goo. The carve-up scene, with Myron weilding steel spike, knuckle-duster and scalpel seems a bit to convincing . . .

"I've never been involved in that sort of business. I was fairly quiet -- 'the joker,' if anything. But I know people like Myron. And if I'm doing research for a part, I go out and meet them."

Meeting the two stars of The Hit, however, was a nerve-wracking experience but Roth managed to master his anxiety: "I was terrified. But as soon as you meet Hurt, you find an actor who wants to work. So does Terry. We will see each other again. You get on the phone or pop round and have tea."

Tim Roth's healthy disdain for the round of 'drama circle' (self-promotion) parties is clear. "I hate all that starry ****," he promises. Unassuming, unaffected, for once the accompanying hyperbole -- "Britain's hottest rising actor" -- seems justified. So, who needs a BBC face to get on in life

i want glover but i must say that paul bettany would be a pretty cool joker if he grew some damn hair

stupid idea, use jude law as joker, use hamill for the voice.

it worked for birds of prey, pretty much the only thing that worked in that crapfest.
