Both of you are incredibly gullible. Blair is the most suppine and gutless leader this country has ever had. The Labour prime minister Harold Wilson faced exactly the same situation with the Vietnam crisis as Blair did with Iraq. And do you know what? He stood up for British interests and refused to become involved. Margaret Thatcher, probably our most pro-American prime minister, fulminated against President Reagan after he invaded Granada.
If the Conservatives had been "in charge" in the period between 9/11 and the invasion of Iraq in 2003, then we would have seen a much slower and more diplomatic path to war, with more parliamentary consideration, and some idea of an exit strategy. As it is, Blair gave no consideration to any single aspect of the war or the "peace" that would follow. As a result, we have become the yapping terriers of a moronic American president, in a needless war that has led to tens of thousands of deaths while sewing the seeds of Islamic terrorism all over the world- even in our own cities.
I do not say that the Conservatives would have handled the situation better because I am a conservative; I say it because nobody could have handled the situation worse than our feeble-mided "leader".
