Daredevil Jon Bernthal IS Frank Castle / The Punisher! - Part 1

they are running the risk of overssaturation with these series. I liked him in DD but never thought he really needed his own spinoff

I hope they adapt Welcome Back, Frank in some capacity. Him taking on the Gnucci's would be a pretty cool intro.

Yes please. I'd be on board with Gnucci's as one of the antagonists in Season 1. Jigsaw and Barracuda would be cool to see as well.

:woot:
OK, so how are going to get the rollout for these shows now?

Next year we have Iron Fist and Defenders. It's pretty clear that Jessica Jones S2 and Daredevil S3 are clearly going on hold until Defenders is done.

And now we have The Punisher. Just saying, we will need more than two shows a year very soon.

Yes, please, give us three shows per year at least!!:woot::woot::woot:.

I can not wait until 2018 for The Punisher!!.

Jigsaw as the main villain please. And a Kingpin appearance as well (if they can get D'Onofrio back to do it).

Yay. Bernthal really sold me. I do hope they keep it at 10 episodes though (unlikely). I felt that both DD and JJ dragged a bit and could've easily been done in 10 episodes. I do wonder what does it mean for future seasons of Luke Cage and/or Iron Fist.

With LC, IF, Defenders, JJ S2, DD S3, and now Punisher, how will that affect the other netflix shows? I'm guessing they will do Heroes for Hire if both LC/IF are well recieved to combine the 2. I still want a Moonknight show.

Hell no. I don't want to sacrifice individual Luke Cage and Iron Fist shows.

I just thought of something. Karen Page showing up could be interesting as well. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed her and Frank's dynamic on DD.

This is not surprising news, it's been a terrible secret for months now.

I can see Marvel going 3 a year.

One show for the Spring, say March or April. Another show in the Summer, June, July, or August. Then another show for the Fall or Winter, October-December.

I mean there were reports from legit outlets that they were developing a TV show. Look this was only a matter of time. Marvel's just now made it official.

You don't put a character like The Punisher as such a major character this season without thinking about launching a spin-off show as well.

When are Cage and Fist ever going to team up though outside of Defenders? Then they're not really a crime-fighting duo but just part of a team.

These shows are 13 hour event series. I don't think they have to worry about being over saturated because each show is different and viewers can watch them at their own pace.

These shows are some of the best things that Marvel's ever done. I think they are spaced out enough to not get oversatured.

I think this could be quite a risk. Especially when Frank shines through his supporting characters and not himself. He's a really guarded and cold character with not a whole lot to lose, so it makes it hard for non comic fans to get into. Hopefully that's not the case but... I'm not sure if I'm excited for it though. Would have preferred Elektra.

Pixen, I think you present a good point. However, I think the stuff with him in prison showed that he can be a compelling POV character with Bernthal in the role. Also, the scenes with him and Karen Page like in the diner or hospital. It shows that there's more to this man than just being a cold-blooded vigilante who hates criminals.

Also, the show will have other characters and subplots who will be featured besides Bernthal. The Netflix shows juggle a lot of POVs in terms of character. It doesn't stick with just the titular hero.

I think Bernthal's Castle is a three-dimensional character. It's just all in terms of execution and presentation.

These shows won't get oversaturated just like the films haven't yet either, despite people yelling that from the rooftops since at least 2005 but most likely before that. They're all different. Jessica Jones might have the same characters, but it has a completely different tone and approach than Daredevil. The Punisher will, hopefully, be one of the most brutal and gory shows to ever be "put on television" - that alone will make it stand out from most shows on the market let alone superhero properties.

I hope they explore some of the moralistic tones of what the Punisher is doing. He's not a pure hero or maybe even a traditional anti-hero and shouldn't be depicted as such.

I don't necessarily agree with the sentiment but I've always found it interesting Joss Whedon's description of the Punisher as a fascist.

Great points as well, I was just saying as Matt Murdock and Jessica Jones are easy to relate with as they do have their boundaries and they have their flaws. Frank lacks that. The only thing he really has is that he has a good aim and won't kill someone who doesn't deserve to be killed. Hopefully they surround him with a good supporting cast and try and bring some more humanity to him.

I think his flaw is that he's sort of relinquished his humanity and any sort of allusions to still being Frank Castle. To him Frank Castle is "dead," but maybe that will get boring after a while. We'll see.

I think his other flaw is that he can't realistically accept to go to war against crime and without really anticipating the consequences. He's waging a war of vengeance on these criminals, but then these criminals want vengeance on him in a vicious cycle. And they try to respond 10-fold.

Working on The Punisher. That's the best talent they could've assembled for TV.
I am very positive that this is going to blow every other comicbook tv show out of the water it's going to be in a league of its own.

When do you guys think we'll get it ? 2018 march ? Or can it be earlier ? I hope it's not later than 2018.
