Daredevil Jon Bernthal IS Frank Castle / The Punisher! - Part 1

Certainly not in his homicidal tendencies, but in terms of his attitude, low tolerance for bs, and general mannerisms, Bernthal really captured the feeling of a lot of recent veterans that I have known.

Just finished season 2...Jon Bernthal you are the f**kin Man!!!! The Punisher is absolutely my favorite comic book character and Mr. Bernthal just delivered imo the best portrayal of the character we've seen yet. He just had such presence, he was very intimidating, cold, calculating and full of rage. As a fan of the Punisher and a military veteran myself Im so happy that we finally got to see the Punisher done right. Im beyond euphoric right now that ***** was beautiful.

One scene of dialogue i liked a lot was when Karen was visiting him in prison and they have a conversation about using PTSD in his trial. He says "No thats an insult to people who actually have it. What if this is just the way it is. What if this is just me now?" or something along those lines.

I wish we got a scene of him actually standing still with the skull on his chest instead of moving. Just to allow us to admire it for a few minutes.

I thought Punisher was one of the most compelling characters and he stole every scene he was in, such that it often felt more like a Punisher series guest starring DD.

But I felt that he was severely left out of the finale and should've had more action and scenes.

How did Frank manage to paint that skull on that vest so well? Did he have a template to spray around or did he just do it by hand? I thought he was going to be wearing a T-shirt, but this looks more like a vest.

It's definitely a vest and it looks like the threading may already coincidentally make out the skull. He just filled it in with white.

I hope either next season, or if he gets his own series, that he grows his hair out on the sides and has his hair slicked back. And I also want a white belt cartridge around his waist. Would be nice to get the white boots and also a battle van.

We got even less of his costume than we did of DD's in episode 13 last season.

I might've said this before but I've never liked the Punisher. Not in the comics or any of the films. He's been a boring, one-note character that I've just never connected with for whatever reason.
That all changed two weeks ago. He's now one of my favorite characters in the MCU. I can't picture anyone but Bernthal playing him. He legitimately did an A+ job, I think it's a damn near perfect performance.

It would be nice if Punisher clashed with Captain America one day. I don't know if that would be a rehash of DD and Punisher's debates, but it would be nice to happen. But hasn't Cap killed people though? So he might not disapprove of Frank's methods as much as DD.

I'd like to see him go up against that version of Hate-Monger who made a white power neonazi Captain America suit post Civil War. I like the idea of Frank, as a veteran in the MCU, having a deep appreciation for Cap.

I enjoyed him enough. I liked him a whole lot more than the Thomas Jane movie... I just felt he took over at times. Especially the first 4 episodes.

Just finished the season. Bernthal more than proved he has what it takes to anchor Frank in a Netflix show as long as he has character interactions like he did with DD and Karen and Kingpin so as not to come off one note. I'm not saying he did but that might be an issue inherent with the character. However the interactions with the DD cast were such a big part of what made Punisher pop so much and revealed so much of his inner life. For a series they probably should also surround Frank with people, allies or enemies, that Berthal can interact with in the manner he did with the DD cast.

I'd think Cap would be against murder of innocents, not killing in combat. "I thought the punishment usually came after the crime."

I doubt he'd be as whiny about it as Daredevil, since Castle only takes out criminals, murderers, etc. I'd love to see Frank mention a respect and admiration for Cap some day.

OTOH, he'd still try to bring Frank in, if its not mooted by the situation. I suspect he might speechify about the importance of distinguishing between crime and warfare. Its not that Steve objects to using deadly force, but there's a difference between being a soldier and being an assassin or executioner, and there are different standards for ethically justifying them.

( "Not that there isn't a need for such sometimes. After all, some of my best friends are assassins." *ahem* )
