Here's some info on the original Lawgiver:-

^^^^That's Baldwin's jaw, right there btw.
I never knew that the one in the film was different from the comic book one....and the comic book one, IMO, looks dumb....when I first saw the film, I saw a badass looking gun with a badass name "Lawgiver"....the comic one looks like a high end water pistol

that's betterActually, in the current comics the Lawgiver has been updated:

...oh and Adam Baldwin is has beome my second choice for Joe Dredd. First one is still Johnny Messner. Not that the ultimate decision will be mine, ofcourse.

Yea the comic book one looks ****.
TELL me about it, it looks exactly like him there, the mouth and everything, yeah Baldwin would be perfect. Hope he at least gets consideration for the part. Honestly that jaw is uncanny.
Might have to start reading the Dredd comics again, I know when I was a kid it was massive here in Liverpool.

Damn, you beat me too it, RL; as a way of compromise between the 'high end water pistol' and the Lawgiver fromthe movies, I was gonna post this:-

Admittedly, it does look better.
I'd stll like to see the mk.1 is the movie though; even if it's only in a glass case on display somewhere's.
Yeah, I think I'm gonna add the 'Baldwin for Dredd' thing to my sig.
. Hopefully it gets noticed though.Still is as far as I can tell. I still see 2000AD and the Megazine's in newsagents across Liverpool.
Btw, forgot to mention that Paul Anderson's Kurt Russell starrer 'Soldier' was on TV last night;
And yeah, I watched it.
I have to admit that, for all it's deficiencies, I actually enjoyed parts of it - If only because It's probably the closest thing to a 2000AD movie (without actually being a 2000AD movie) that you can get (which should be of no surprise given that Anderson got the idea of it from Rogue Trooper).
I actually started to watch this movie featuring genetically-engineered soldiers wearing cool futuristic uniforms sporting badass machine/laser guns, driving huge frikkin' tanks with massive wheels on strange alien planets with collossal space ships flying overhead and throughout, all the geek in me could think was.............................''2000AD''
I'm watching it in both wonderment and puzzlement; Wonderment in terms of the realisation that a faithful 2000AD movie would be absolutely badass on screen and puzzlement as to why no one (Stallone's Dredd apart) has exploited this untapped gem, cinematically speaking;
I mean, c'mon, you want Mad Max? 2000AD
You want Aliens? 2000AD
Robocop? 2000AD
Here's hoping that the new Dredd film is done right, with the appropriate amount of respect for the source material and that it's received well. Maybe then, we'll start to see more of the stuff on-screen that has made 2000AD so special over the years on the printed page.EDIT: perfect music style for a Dredd (or Rogue Trooper/Strontium Dog) movie:-

Really? I mean I have seen them in Forbidden Planet and Worlds apart, but not in the local newsagents. Saying that, I dont really go into the newsagents LOOKING for 2000AD stuff as I just wouldnt expect them to be in there, so you may be right.
If this Dredd movie is done right and is successful, it could open the door for other 2000AD characters, hopefully Rogue Trooper, who used be another favourite of mine (I even had the game on the Commodore 64 YEARS ago). Who knows, a well done Dredd movie could open the door to something quite special.
The Baldwin that's not a BaldwinIs Adam Baldwin "Animal Mother" from FMJ?
I've seen them in various newsagents throughout the city; if you're ever near a W.H.Smiths - It's a certainty you'd be able to pick up a few issues there.
Damn Straight.
I'm also thinking given that 2009 will be 'the summer of sci-fi' (what with Star Trek, Transformers 2 and Terminator:Salvation), If the films do as good as I hope they will, producers may start to look for more sci-fi properties to adapt.
With an already established fanbase, you'd think 2000AD would certainly be on a lot of peoples radars as a viable option.
Hell, I wouldnt be surprised if Simon Pegg has talked to a few people already, given that he's a huge AD fan and he's even been the voice of Johnny Alpha.
The Baldwin that's not a Baldwin
And I know what you mean, 2000AD has quite a large build in fan-base, at least in the U.K, so i'm surprised it took so long for them to re-boot it or at least have a go at Rogue Trooper or Strontium Dog. Hopefully their movies get a successful and faithful adaptation over the next 5-10 years.
Unsure if he'd be able to do the business physically, but otherwise, Clancy Brown seems just born for Dredd.
Another solid casting suggestion there, Jamon.
when I found that out....and don't forget Slaine, Tharg, and Nemesis The Warlock. Oh, and how could I forget those two dastardly aliens, D.R. & Quinch(this might be an Alan Moore adaptation he himself might actually like, who knows). Also, Dredd is getting a reboot, how about Tank Girl?
Thanks, and I think he would be fine physically, he is actually only 3 years older than Baldwin, I was
when I found that out.
