Judge Dredd Reboot!!

that'd be Judge Glitter, not Dredd

:hehe:

And he wears a New York Dolls bandana!

Just thought, Adam Balwin, who plays Jayne in Firefly and Sernity, would make a damn good Judge Dredd as well, plus, he isnt that well known so maybe would be bothered about his face not being shown.

the sad thing about the original film is that visually its dead on....Mega City One looks like a neon covered sardine can and the Judge uniforms are dead on, IMHO

I don't remember the looks of it--and I won't be watching it again any time soon.

These are my choices for director:

-Neil Marshall(Doomsday)

-Len Wiseman(Underworld)

-Danny Boyle(28 Days Later, Sunshine)

-Lexi Alexander(Punisher:War Zone)

-Paul W.S. Anderson(Death Race)

-David Twohy(Pitch Black)

Paul W S Anderson??? Youre serious about that??? What, is Uwe Boll busy?

Doomsday was horrible, like a bad 80's film. I coouldnt believe the movie was made this century.

Danny Boyle seems a logical choice, and 28 Days was decent (its sequel was not).

Lexi Alexander should come out kicking and screaming over being pushed around on Punisher (regardless of whether or not its true) or that mega-bomb is going to keep studios from hiring her for anything similiar.

Yea I agree, Paul W.S Anderson is a hack of the highest degree.

And I don't rate Lexi either, if they are in charge of this film then we'll be going down the B-movie route.

If I had to choose between PWS* Anderson and Uwe Boll, I'd go with Boll (at least german taxpayers get their money back :hehe:)

*punisher war zone? :hehe:

I totally dig that suggestion; I remember a Lobo casting thread some years ago were I suggested Baldwin and if I rememeber correctly, he's about 6'4'', pretty well built and has that whole 'gruff' thing required for the role down pat.

Yeah, despite the movies very obvious flaws, at least the production design was (by and large) right on the money.

I definately wanna see a faithful lawgiver this time around though.

Actually, she's been offered to direct DC's Jonah Hex with Josh Brolin.

^ I made a thread about it :woot: Is it confirmed?

She has had the script sent to her. She's in negotiations, I believe.

Well, if Lexi does Hex, I highly doubt she'll do Dredd.

Also, I don't know what you mean about "going down the B-movie route"(maybe you would need to be more specific). I mean, I don't see how that would automatically be a negative thing. Films like "Escape From New York", "Total Recall", "Kill Bill", "Robocop", and "Sin City" are very much B-movie material. Sometimes less can be more. What I mean by that is, for example, look at the previous Dredd film. It had an A-movie budget. It looked good, visually, but overall the film didn't deliver on anything else.

I think a good Judge Dredd film should have a strong element of "fear" or a bit of a strong "disturbing" feel to it. Very much the same way futuristic films like "Escape From N.Y.", "Total Recall", "Blade Runner", "The Terminator", "Robocop", "Westworld", "Brazil", "Logan's Run", and "Death Race 2000" had. A shock value, I suppose.

It should be more this type of film than a too glossy, bright and safe film like "The Fifth Element".

Well I meant B-movie as in crap movie. Ever since I see Green Street I have never rated her. She hasn't got a clue about football hooligans and she tries to make a film about them? Do me a favour! She made the I.C.F look like a bunch of American frat boys.

But yea I think a Dredd film should be disturbing, I want to see it reflect the pages of 2000AD. All gritty and grimey. Sly's Dredd movie did look good, but it was too shiney and clean for my liking, you know?

Well, since I'm not really into the world hooligan football(at all, actually), I can't comment. I do know that she made a very good Punisher film worthy of the Ennis and Max books, and most Punisher fans seem to have enjoyed it alot. Best Punisher film so far. That being said, another reason I doubt she'd do Dredd is beacause the concept is somewhat similar to that of The Punisher. Another cold-blooded justice dispenser.

Yea I agree, I don't think she would want to go straight into something like that after Punisher.

 He was great as Jayne, that voice, without the cowboy twang, would be perfect, plus the guy can act and has the right build, he would be perfect.

 to that also.

I never read Dredd all that much...so what would be the actual Lawgiver functions?

and I *never* read any Dredd so.. let us know

Here's some info on the original Lawgiver:-
