Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

I didn't even know they released their names. They're goofy.

Maybe he doesn't choose to look that way, but that's the form he was forced to take on? Like in a role in an RPG, maybe you have to basically take the role you don't really want in order to play the game?
Well, I wasn't really being serious with that question but yeah, I guess that could be the case.
Poor kid though. His friends get to look like The Rock and Karen Gillian and he's stuck with middle-aged Jack Black. I mean, no offense to Jack Black, I like him and all, but... it's a supernatural jungle and he's not exactly in peak shape.

Wait, what?! This is thing! I- I didn't even know. And now I'm kind of sad I do...

I think that comes later. Young families will see this movie regardless, but they need to build buzz with the four well-known adult cast members so people like us will want to see it. I suspect the plotline is that Hart is a dopey dad from the real world who has to rescue his kids with the help of three cartoonish action-hero characters. So you'll have a sideplot of the kids running away from danger, etc.

YEah but you can have kids alongside the well established actors. Karen Gillian isn't bringing in much of an audience. I'd even make the arguement that people don't care much about Jack Black.

Not saying it's a bad to not have kids in the forefront, I was just saying

I'm guessing the kid who is the bully or the jagoff has to be Jack Black or Kevin Hart, and the nerdy kid gets to be the Rock.

You know how when people got together to play Monopoly everyone wanted to be the Racecar or the Battleship? That's the Rock. And Jack Black is like the Thimble or Shoe.

I always got stuck with the Shoe... :(

I chose the thimble! :argh:

I have no hope for this and I used to be obsessed with jumanji so I was kind of looking forward to it

Ok so now we have actors dressed up as goofy characters pretending to be teenagers? Sounds great.

I actually like the sound of what Sneider is saying. Kids in grown up bodies trying to get out of the game like in Zathura vs the game coming to life like in Jumanji.

Wait someone has said that's the actual story? I just thought it was someone here putting their own ideas out.

I forgot how tall Karen is 5'11" FYI wow

not too excited here. it looks goofy. i really dont know what they're trying to 'do' in this jumanji but i actually hoped it to have tension and be very very grim and dark in the actual 'jumanji' like how Robin Williams (Alan Parrish) described the world of Jumanji, with the animals on the loose on the streets not being overly friendly, the hunter being 'evil', and the game itself having a angry 'soul'.

this looks too 'clean', instead of jungle-worn. Jack black looks like a parody of his character in King Kong. horrible. too much skin and too little badassery.

Also, i really have been nothing but a fan of The Rock for years and years but ultimately i feel he's just getting corny and a 'caricature' instead of simply being awesome.

I dont know if this is going to be more 'comedic' (obviously the original was a family-fun-couch movie with comedy in it but it never felt like a 'johnny english' type of movie).....if it isn't, then i dont like what they're doing - not feeling it.

i feel like Rodriguez 'Predators' breathes more jumanji-like vibe than what i'm looking at now. imagine the danger of predators but then in the dark.

matter of fact....wasnt the original jumanji movie suggesting the jungle or world of jumanji was so dark that there was no light and you could more or less only hear instead of see? i liked that creepiness.

I think its only a set pic and not a still from the movie. A good chance it will look quite different. No need to jump to conclusions. Obviously we have a bad track record of late sequels which justifies the worry but just going on this picture alone we can't really say much.

Too late for that. The internet started doing this the moment the movie was announced. Now they see an out-of-context picture of the characters and are making Superman-sized flying leaps of conclusion as to what it means.

I think the story and premise are fine. The characters are obviously going to be somewhat goofily named (Jumanji is a children's board game afterall) and the story can't be too serious. It's a family movie, not an adult movie. It is meant to appeal to a broad range from child to adult.

But the internet tends to forget you can have a ground between child and adult movies and that's where this is going. It's not like anyone should have expected an R-Rated movie. PG-13 is going to be tops and we've got nothing to suggest it will be watered down to PG or even G.

I don't think it should be über grimdark. But on the flip it should be scary enough the the tension in the environment is palpable.

Can't take Allan Parrish's description of the game out of context. When he entered the game he was an 11 year old yuppie born with a silver spoon in his mouth thrown into a magical rainforest. I'm sure the jungle was scary and dangerous, but it was all described and filtered from Allan's perspective.

$0.02

Yeah but now we're gonna SEE that jungle!

It's still a ****ing jungle, what more is there to see? Unless there's some giant ape there's not much new to offer here.

I mean if you're an 11 year old kid and a hunter has been trying to shoot you for a couple decades, yeah. You're gonna be pretty ****ed up.

Personally, I really don't get where all the hate is coming from...

It's not a remake... it's a sequel.

I think Jumanji is a concept worth further exploration.

The Rock is in everything because he's probably the biggest most bankable action star around.

Karen Gillan took to Twitter to offer some explanation behind her outfit in Jumanji...
