Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

I'll give Hart credit; he doesn't mind making fun of himself.

I can't support The Rock with this one. Sorry, man.

I love the original. I wouldn't bother watching this.

Who'll they be playing?? Robin's character and the hunter?

It's official now via Rock's Instagram. To be honest, I didn't care for the original film as a kid and I hated the cartoon. It came on television a month ago and I watched it in it's entirety. I still didn't care for it. Robin Williams was the only reason why that film wasn't bad. To be honest, this can qualify as a film worthy to be remade. Despite it earning over 250 million, this was a dated CGI heavy film that only had lukewarm reception so I'm not against this if it can be a better film with better CGI.

Love The Rock, don't like Kevin Hart.

The original is a fun movie and there is potential to make something cool out of a remake.

At the risk of sounding blasphemous, I'm kind of sick of seeing the Rock being shoved into everything.

I enjoy the original movie immensely and I've watched it countless times but yeah, it's the perfect definition of a guilty pleasure. It's not very good.

I mean the thing with all remakes is that they're not gonna destory the original.

If it sucks I'll just go back to the original

I'm just really curious where they're going storywise to have both The Rock and Hart because I figured it would be a more kid centric movie

The Rock, I love him, but the weird thing is Ive only liked 3-4 of the movies he's starred in out of like over 10.

But I still love the guy. I'm always happy to see him get work.

I like The Rock too, but don't think he is a good fit for the part. I think this remake will lose the heart and emotional core the original had, in favor of straight-up comedy. Not interested.

I was discussig with my brother how the 2 actors could work in this film and we came up with the idea that The Rock plays the robin Williams character that gets pulled into the jumanji game as a kid but instead this time he comes back out as a more Tarzan type action hero that still has a child like way about him.

Kevin Hart could play the father to the new kids playing the board game in the present time.

Thats going with the idea they follow the original. They probably won't though.

I'd enjoy seeing Kevin Hart play it straight. It's not the first time he's done it.

Yeah, I figure Rock will be the Alan character with Hart being a single dad/guardian to two kids. Though it would be much funnier if the roles were reversed and Hart is the hardened guy that got sucked into the game decades ago.

I wonder if Hart is playing the police officer in this? David Alan Grier played Carl Bently in the original. I wonder if he's assuming something of the same role?

The Rock is franchise viagra. I don't think there's a thing he can't resuscitate.

Joking aside, I think having the Rock in a Jumanji film would be awesome. There's no need to remake it though, just create a sequel. Have someone new discover the game and stuff!

Yes. I would be more onboard with this if it was a sequel and not a remake. (Didn't the original leave the door open for a sequel anyway?)

They really should have stuck with the original idea of having it be about a group of children. The director of 'Bad Teacher' thrown together with the pairing of 'Central Intelligence' is giving me a real bad vibe about this, that it'll basically be a raunchy "buddy" action of type film - which butchers 'Jumanji', a family classic; the real bad sign being the director who typically makes darker, adult oriented comedies with hard to like characters.

therockAnd the #JUMANJI magic begins.

Excellent meeting with our director Jake Kasdan, producer Matt Tolmach, and our @SevenBucksProd team to work on our new re-imagining of this amazing story.

I felt like in order to craft something cool we should begin where it all started. Award winning writer Chris Van Allsburg's source material of JUMANJI. Chris also wrote THE POLAR EXPRESS (later adapted by Robert Zemeckis and Tom Hanks) and has a very special & magical way of storytelling.
I'm feelin' good and confident stepping into these shoes as a producer as well as actor to bring you something great that you and your entire fam can enjoy.

An important thing that I want to be honest and bring up is Robin Williams. The love and respect I have for this man is boundless. You have my word, we will honor his name and the character of "Alan Parrish" will stand alone and be forever immortalized in the world of JUMANJI in an earnest and cool way. I have an idea of what to do and I think his family will be proud. I also think Robin is somewhere lookin' down and laughing, remembering the first time we met backstage and I (for the first time ever) was a star struck bumbling idiot that couldn't even get my words out. Idiot. He literally calmed me down w/ that smile and laugh. But that's for another fun story down the road.

We got a great team assembled already over at our home base of SONY and now we build from here.

Here's another fun part... in the original movie there were three big roles. In our new story there's now FIVE. Been so damn cool to see all my actor buddies push their projects aside so hopefully they can come play in our world. Should have cool casting announcements this week. Will keep you posted.

We'll see what comes out of it.
