Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

Eh, it looks pretty fun to me. I'll be seeing it.

I thought Goosebumps was pretty meh to be honest. I'm glad other people enjoyed it though.

I still haven't seen Goosebumps. This has more talent then Goosebumps, at least in front of the camera. It also looks like it actually cost money.

It was pretty meh. Charming as the show, I guess but mostly a blast-from-the-past with those kid's movies.

The only way I wanted to see Goosebumps was an aged up take targeted a tad more at the original audience, but I knew that wasn't going to happen. Something like Monster Squad had kids that talked like kids .and at least attempted to be creepy. The Goosebumps movie is all safe and shiny.

Honest question I don't know the answer to. Has any revamped property from the 80's or 90's actually worked over the last 10 years?

The Jump Street films and... I guess that's it lol

Well if we are talking about remakes/reboots/sequels, you have Star Wars and Mad Max. Yes I know they started in the 70s, but they also have a big presence in the 80s. The successful relaunch of Batman. Blade Runner will probably work out.

No malice, genuinely curious. What movies?

Sandlot, space jam, the goonies, tommy boy, dumb and dumber, little rascals, remember the titans, pretty sure all 3 back to the futures have meh RT scores

I think Space Jam is garbage. It's just a really long commercial.

BTTF1 is sitting pretty at 96%.

Except for the Goonies and maybe Sandlot, I wouldn't call any of those classics. Space Jam is the ultimate guilty pleasure, though.

Fine I guess they're classics for me. There are classics with not good RT scores if you don't agree exactly with every movie I listed that's kind of irrelevant

I'm sure I could find more - like Home Alone

I don't think 'classic' has anything to do with RT scores, but how those movies have evolved in the public consciousness over the years.

Just saw the trailer, another one of these films that uses the name value without seemingly any connection, but it does look like good fun with some decent visuals.

Yep I'm with you. Hopefully Doc Savage can be our go to Dwayne Johnson: Pulpy Adventurer movie. :woot:

I won't believe that Doc Savage is happening until I see a trailer.

Here's the thing with Dwayne Johnson, he usually annouces projects years in advance, but they always end up happening, so it will happen around 2050.

I don't think this is going to turn out well, critically at least!

See, I feel like this could've worked if it was just like Kevin Hart as a dad and his kids that get sucked into the game, but they obviously wanted to do a high concept role with these actors.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if the script started out as something original, then Sony decided they needed a Jumanji cinematic universe.

I like the original idea of the game coming to life in the real world as oppose to them getting sucked in the game. High schoolers playing avatars from the game doesn't sound as good.

I also don't like having two comic relief dudes with Hart and Black.

Well, if it's any consolation, neither of them will be funny.
