Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

A continuation sequel.

The treehouse scene didn't ring any bells for you, huh?

So I’m assuming they are going to want to fast track a sequel now. How do you get the 4 leads back again? Another adventure in the world of Jumanji? This one was about saving Jumanji so I can’t imagine they’d do that again for the sequel.

I just saw this tonight and really enjoyed it. Surprisingly, Jack Black was my fave, and I agree with those saying Kevin Hart was the weak link. The others made an effort to embody the kids they were playing, while Hart was just being Hart. I'll watch the inevitable sequel, even though I'm not sure where they have left to go storywise.

Over $530m WW now. Still going well. Will it hit $600m after this weekend?

I saw this today and thought it was pretty mediocre. It did have a few great jokes in it though

This movie has made more than Justice League. Incredible.

Good. Justice League was one of the biggest turds of 2017.

Well, there you have it. :o

Can't quite believe that has happened, but fair do's, Jumanji was a much, much better film than Justice League.

No surprise to me. Justice League suffered some significant problems that Jumanji didn't have to worry about (Zack Synder directing, no world building around a dozen characters, Zack Synder's dark and gritty tone, too many characters, Zack Synder twisting existing characters into some kind of horrible mockery, a new director/direction midway through production, taking itself too seriously, a terrible story, underwhelming villian, bad CG effects, Zack Synder's involvement, etc).

Jumanji did well because it wasn't trying to be more than it was.

I watched Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle andI was surprised just how I much I ended up loving the movie. Pretty much everyone brought their A-game here. I don't really think anyone stood out me in particular because I thought everyone of the them (The Rock, Kevin Hart, Jack Black & Karen Gillian) was excellent and the collective effort brought the house down. It was so much fun. It was a riot from start to finish. Karen looked like a doll in the movie. She was so freaking cute. Everyone played off each other really well. I already knew Rock and Hart will bring it because I loved the pairing in Central Intelligence from last year but both JB and Karen surprised me. I hafta say that the casting decisions were on point. Also the writing was very good as well. The humor wasn't crude and OTT. I had a great time at the theaters. Maaaan, 2018 starts off with a bang and I sure hope the rest of year will follow suit.

The weekend holds on this movie are incredible. It made another $20M domestic despite only opening at $36M just 5 weeks ago.

As of today on Box Office Mojo:

Domestic: $316,985,148
Foreign: $450,800,000
Worldwide: $767,785,148

Brilliant numbers. Will end up well over $800m by the time it's done.

It's got really strong word of mouth.

Yeah, crazy holds! Wonder how long it can go on.

Right nao, Jumanji is Sony's 5th highest grossing movie of all time behind 4 Spider-Man movies. Spider-Man:Homecoming & SM3 is already toast. Jumanji will just blow past 'em. SM2 is also going down going by current projection.

Jumanji has consistently beaten Night At The Museum (2006) on every week and if it continues to do so in the subsequent weeks, even Spider-Man (2002) will be in jeopardy. But on a more realistic note, if Jumanji follows NATM's multiplier after the 5th weekend, it could end up as high as 393.6 million. I mean Jumanji has been pulling almost 1.5 times the dailies that NATM was posting back in '06 and it's still managing to drop less than NATM in every f**king weekend. It's insane. 390 million is probably a good target atm and it'll also mean that Jumanji could be #4 for 2017 behind TLJ, BATB & WW.

Jake Kasdan is about to be in demand. He did direct decent action sequences.

The box office for movies like this erode my faith in humanity.

From the trailers, it looked like nothing special and even though people say it's fun and entertaining (haven't seen it yet), I can't imagine it being "$800 million WW" entertaining.

Same with JW. Never understood why that movie made $1.5 billion WW. It was a good action film, but nothing too special to grant it such a huge BO.

Remember, BO doesn't mean quality. It just means popularity.
