Jurassic Park IV

Any word, news, rumors on the JP Blu Ray?

I think November is supposed to be the release date for JP and TLW to hit BD. This holiday season will sure be expensive Blu-ray wise, not only with JP and TLW, but also the Alien Anthology set.

Was the scene of the T-Rex chasing the raft actually filmed, though? I recall reading it was planned but ultimately scrapped to keep costs down, and that it was never filmed but ultimately used in JP3 instead, with the Spinosaurus in place of the T-Rex.

That .. would have been .. so .. ****ing epic! Damn you 90's technology and movie costs!!!!!

It can always be used for JP4, and would be awesome to see. Imagine getting the river raft chase AND a T-Rex/Spinosaurus rematch with the T-Rex winning for JP4. Would be awesome.

It was never filmed at all, but it was certainly scripted and storyboarded early on, and atleast one art department painting was made. It was one of Spielberg's favourite scenes from the book, which illustrates just why some of his movies are a collection of set-pieces; he goes through the book and highlights his ten or so favourite scenes, and makes a movie out of them. Throw in a bit of exposition and there's your movie. Now, Jurassic Park is a classic, but certainly some Spielberg movies, The Temple of Doom and The Lost World, are simply autopilot action scenes for two hours.

I think Temple Of Doom is probably Spielberg's most underrated and underappreciated movie, and TLW isn't far off, either.

Hook was good and crap all in one...

the boy was so annoying...the scene where Tink wants to bone Pan was uncomfortably weird...Julia Roberts was miscast BIGTIME.

Hoffman was great
Rufio was a dick.

HBO seems to be airing JP a lot, lately. Good to see it airing on television more. Wonder if it might be part of Universal's attempt to test the waters to get more interest in JP again?

I hope so! I soooo can't wait for the Blu-Ray release!!!!!

Also.. who wants to see more additions to the Jurassic Park island of Universal Orlando's Islands of Adventure!? I wish they'd add more! :( I would literally kill someone to get the Jeep Tours from the first film! x_X;

I was always surprised they never did a JP roller coaster or track ride using likenesses of the jeeps or tour cars from the film that goes at a high speed while you're going through the various dinosaur enclosures. It'd be the coolest thing being in a JP jeep while a huge animatronic T-Rex comes stomping after you shaking the ground and roaring loud enough to make your head ring.

It is always on. It is on every weekend and has been for the past few months. I watch it every time I run across it:woot:

It's kind of funny how after all these years, everybody's still pissed about the sPinosaurus beating T-rex in JP3. I remember JP dino consultant & paleontologist Jack Horner making such bold claims about how it would have ripped the T-rex apart with it's mighty arms an apparently losing his paleo street cred for doing so. If you ask pretty much any other paleontologist, they'll tell you that sPinosaurus, swamp dwelling fish hunter, would have avoided fights on account of that giant fleshy sPine being a huge weak sPot.

But yeah, since these are "JP Universe" dinos, I'd rather have two T-rexes beat the crap out of it, chase it into the woods, have it fall off a cliff and get eaten by a swarm of compies below.

Really? Why?

Let's be fair, they are decent enough movies, and though average for Spielberg they are far better than the average movies of most directors. And I do like both The Temple of Doom and The Lost World. However, they are lazy Spielberg. They are lazy, string-of-set-pieces-with-barely-a-plot Spielberg.

Everything that happens in the middle hour of The Lost World and the last hour of Temple could happen in any order and not make any difference. And also, they are dark, sadistic Spielberg. The Lost World was his first movie after Schindler's List and it's full of darkness and foreboding, and suggests capitalists deserve anything that comes to them, including to be eaten by dinosaurs. The Temple of Doom basically stops being a story at all as soon as Indy and co reach the temple - it's just action and spectacle from then on. And as for violent - Indy hits a guy in the stomach with a saw. It's Tom and Jerry type fighting, but with real people. Quite shocking to see even now, nearly thirty years on.
