Im with you broNice to see some others in here who are excited like myself besides the usual stuff in this thread. They were some beautiful shots in this trailer as well.
There were some great shots I agree, and loved Jurassic World so was always looking forward to the sequel.
Just watched the trailer, looks awesome to me!some of the shots are fantastic, like the Mosasaur attacking the chopper, and I like that they've kept the fun banter despite adding a slightly more monster movie feel to things. It also seems like only part of the movie takes place on the Island while the rest has the evil scientist and his corporation trying to sell a new hybrid as a weapon, which is an interesting shift.
I think this looks terrible the more I watch the trailer. Not only that, but the fact they are retreading the same ground yet again is proof enough that Jurassic Park isnt a concept that can sustain multiple films. The characters are getting increasingly stupider and the dinosaurs more ridiculous.
Once again B movie story, over the top action scenes and explosions, imaginary dinosaurs , cliche characters , dinosaurs behaving like humans, bad CGI all over the place...
Sad thing they kept everything bad about Jurrasic World and added some more. What a mess.
Jurassic Park is dead, these are megabudget Sharktopus series...

The first one was a cleverly crafted monster movie. The issue is the concept never had the depth to go beyond that, hence why every film since has been a poor imitation of it, even Spielberg failed to match his own work. There's been no real path for the series to grow naturally beyond film one, so the only way to keep the series alive has been make it ever more ludicrous.
The issue is you're looking for a lot of depth in a monster movie about dinosaur theme parks. There doesn't need to be much depth to justify these films. The path for this franchise is simple: man makes dinosaurs and dinosaurs eat man. The only thing the franchise needs to do is change the specifics and scenarios from film to film and introduce new monsters in each film.
The first one brings up some very good questions about how far science is willing to go and the dangers of tampering with natural selection wrapped in a monster/horror movie. It's every film since that has essentially been as dumb as you've described it.

Cadillacs and Dinosaurs is the obvious ramp up. Basically Mad Max/Jurassic World.
