I fully support the next movie being Cadillacs and Dinosaurs in live action.

It won't matter that they look like reptilian dinosaurs. They will evolve from the ones in Jurassic Park. And it will be a savage land of Cadillacs and dinosaurs.

This looks like a very expensive B-movie.

Really enjoyed the trailer, looks darker than I expected, and for once there is a compelling reason for them to go back to the island.

Agreed they will never catch the magic that the original had so people still looking for that are misguided IMO

The one thing that would please everyone!

He's certainly on the map now. I don't love his JW character so far but if he wanted to try being the next Indiana Jones I'd welcome him to give it a go. And that's not something that I could say of most actors.

He would make a great new Indiana Jones I wanted that rumored ghostbusters reboot with him and Rudd leading

Oh not heard about that. With those 2 as part of a 4 it could work well.

Bingo, agree with you here. These sequels are more so just about pure dinosaur fun and action, entertainment. I’m fully down with that and love them for what they are.

The first one was a cleverly crafted monster movie. The issue is the concept never had the depth to go beyond that, hence why every film since has been a poor imitation of it, even Spielberg failed to match his own work. There's been no real path for the series to grow naturally beyond film one, so the only way to keep the series alive has been make it ever more ludicrous.

There are/were still ways that it could've grown and improved past the first film. The basic premise of Jurassic World isn't even all that bad, actually, they just focused on the wrong things in that film and tried to simply redo the first one with more people to eat and a more extreme "dinosaur" to run from. There should've been more focus on Owen and his raptor pack (since they're clearly trying to get us to like and care about Blue) and how that relationship came about, and if they had to include it, then they should've made the Indominus more of a tragic character. She's supposed to have been hyper-intelligent with a troubled background that led to her escape and killing spree as she tried to "find her place in the food chain", so that should've been leaned into more. Then you could've contrasted that with how Owen deals with his raptors, and then instead of just retreading the anti-science "don't play god" message, the series could've actually gone the next step, embraced the progression of these films and technology wherein and made a commentary on how we relate to other animals and the treatment of intelligent species in a captive setting. (Which is what they claim the Jurassic World series is trying to do now, but it's clearly not doing it well.) Could've been a bit of a psychological thriller in addition to the typical running-and-screaming-from-giant-carnivorous-"dinosaur" action.

That said, I actually like the Indoraptor more than the Indominus; it's a better creature design and seems a lot more utilitarian. (Why you'd start off your experimental dino-weapon project with a Tyrannosaurus-sized animal is beyond me, but dumb movie military/evil science logic.) However, if this is supposed to be a horror flick than I'd rather they'd have kept the design a secret, or at least actually teased it more than just straight-up revealing it throughout the trailer. That's one of the few things I actually liked about the marketing for Jurassic World; they barely revealed what the Indominus looked like for most of the earlier trailers and you never really got a good look at the whole animal until the movie.

This trailer was also significantly better than the first one, at least in terms of composition. (Everything pissed me off about that one; it just felt very haphazardly thrown together.) I had to laugh at the mosasaur eating the guy from the helicopter, something about it just caught me off-guard.

Like rampage was and Pacific Rim before it. I feel the 50s schlock is making a comeback only with bigger budgets.

Very much agreed.

On a side note - can I just say that I almost don't want to watch this because I'd feel awful for the fictitious dinos running to their deaths off a cliff trying to get away from a volcano eruption?

I'm weird like that LOL.

The first JP turned into a horror once the raptors started opening doors and ****.

Exactly, especially those bits with Bob Peck and Laura Dern were really terrifying. And of course the raptors in the kitchen, such an iconic and fantastic film sequence, I kinda really doubt anything will top that, it was directed so masterfully.

I really like how J.A and his DP lit a lot of those 2nd half mainland shots. The shot in the international trailer of the T-Rex chasing the guy in the yellow jacket with the t-rex only being lit by the helicopter light (while running in and out of it) is beautiful.

I don't get it. The VFX looks worse than the those in Jurassic Park.

The film looks meh to OK. I will see it in the threatre but, I don;t have high hopes. It did have them for JW and I was dissapointed.

Well the same was true in Jurassic World.

1995 Independence Day also had better VFX than Resurgence.

Because actual time and care and love was put into them with models and animatronics, whereas now let's just CGI the crap out of everything.

Agreed. CG is a tool to be used when something cannot be done practically. Now CG is just used as a default. I mean, why is Spider-Man's costume CG now. THAT SHOULD BE A SUIT!!!! :cmad::cmad::cmad:

I will always prefer practical over CG when it can accomplish the same thing.

That's how I feel. CGI doesn't bother me even in copious pervasive amounts in movies like Avatar, Star Wars/Star Trek, Doctor Strange, Ready Player One, etc., where it's kind of an inevitable necessity to the story and what's being depicted, etc.

But CGI'ing stuff that can be done through animatronics or even just CGI'ing things that actually exist in reality, like CGI wolves and bears and CGI Spider-Man even when he's just standing there in a suit, feels lazy (I say "lazy" because ironically it probably takes more work than just.....having Tom Holland in the suit more often).

They're following the Jurassic Park mold. Just because they can they will.

Totally agree. It takes me out of the movie when it’s blatant and pointless. There’s a scene in Raimi Spider-Man 2 when Spidey jumps into a window across the bank from Ock holding May...totally oblivious cgi when they could have done it practical and it look flawless.

This film will make 1.3 billion but I won't know why.

It looks so weak. Like literally ripping off The Lost World.

But folks love Pratt's charm and dinosaurs, so voila.

It will make money because some people still love this franchise like myself. We still have fun watching these and are entertained. Not everyone is down on this franchise. Is that such a horrible thing?

We got to see the opening sequence from #JurassicWorldFallenKingdom and it was very tense. It begins with an underwater team trying to recover [BLACKOUT]Indominus Rex dna[/BLACKOUT] but quickly becomes a scary escape sequence on land and water. …

… Taking cues from Spielberg in showing less to ramp up the tension. The scene involves a huge [BLACKOUT]underwater Dino[/BLACKOUT] and a helicopter escape sequence with [BLACKOUT]Rexy[/BLACKOUT]. If the rest of the movie is this good it could be the best Jurassic movie since the original. #CinemaCon

I'm glad the film opens with a dino attack, since every other movie in the franchise has opened with one except for Jurassic World. Not that it would have made sense in the context of that movie since it was a fully operational park with no incidents, but still...
