Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom - Part 1

Is it just me that thinks the main dinosaur they're using as the 'bad dinosaur' - don't know how else to describe it - looks really weak?

It doesn't look to be a patch on the T-Rex or Indominous Rex from JW.

I don't think it has anywhere near as big a role in this as the Indominus did in JW. That thing is basically just there to be a final boss for Blue, so I don't really feel one way or another about it.

It's got a slight Slenderman vibe that I actually like (though I don't like the look of its head) but seeing as it's probably not going to be facing off against bigger dinosaurs in this movie, I don't have a problem with it being a mid-sized theropod. It actually makes more sense than the Indominus from a tactical military perspective.

I didnt notice until I saw the trailer on the big screen, but the thing can also climb down walls headfirst like dracula. It crawls down an outside wall and looks in the little girl's room window.

Also guessing it has a bond or target for the little girl as she has a few interactions with it based on the trailer.

I really hope this one is better than Jurassic World.

my current rank:
Jurassic Park (1993) - 10/10
The Lost World (1997) - 7.5/10
Jurassic Park III (2001) - 6.5/10
Jurassic World (2015) - 6/10

I honestly don't think Lost World is as bad as people make it out to be. I genuinely love that movie.

For me it has some amazing scenes and some VERY bad ones. But the balance is more to the positive side.

I also don't see the hate for the third one. I mean, yeah it is not very good, but it is not that bad also. It has some good moments in it.

Jurassic World was so generic it was just off putting. It felt like every other crappy blockbuster we get 10 of each year.

Also the acting from the kids in the move was just criminal. And the park for me was too futuristic. I needed something more grounded to connect with. Gyrospheres...god.

But I still love dinosaurs so I can't wait for Fallen Kingdom. I REALLY hope it is good.

In both Jurassic World and this year’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the focus is on new hybrid dinosaurs cooked up in a lab, with Indominus Rex playing the role of main villain in the former and the Indoraptor set to terrify us all in the latter. But in the trilogy’s third installment, don’t expect to see another new hybrid monster.

Colin Trevorrow, who directed Jurassic World and co-wrote Fallen Kingdom, will be returning to co-write and direct Jurassic World 3, which already has a 2021 release date. Trevorrow recently described JW3 as a “science thriller,” comparing it to the original Jurassic Park, and he just shared more on the “back to basics” approach.

“I’m looking forward to, in the third film, getting a little back into the Paleontological, wild animal, true dinosaur nature of all of it,” Trevorrow told Total Film. He additionally noted that the Indoraptor will be the final hybrid dino in this particular trilogy.

Emily Carmichael will write the script with Colin Trevorrow. Steven Spielberg will of course return to executive produce, alongside Trevorrow.

Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley also return as producers.

The trilogy-ender will arrive on June 11, 2021.

They always mention Jurassic Park and the "getting back to basics". They said it for JW and they said it for JW:FK too. I'm not buying it anymore.

What are the basics? Dinosaurs get loose and eat humans? Because I’m pretty sure that’s happened.

Yeah, it's not like this series has gone into space or crossed over with the Fast and the Furious franchise or anything like that. Dinosaur mayhem has always been "the basics" for this franchise.

Well for me the good news is that there will be no more genetically engineered dinosaurs.

Um...they are all genetically engineered dinosaurs. You can say there will be no more made up dinosaurs.

If this is indeed to be the case, then good. I had wondered where they'd take a third JW film with yet another hybrid [blackout]unless they merge a bunch of herbivores and it gains sentience and befriends a young child or something...[/blackout]

I think you know what lime meant; no more hybrids, rather than no more genetically engineered dinosaurs. :p

Either way, I hope the third JW film is more than just another monster movie. The first and third JP films had a Rex as the main villain, with another large carnivore playing the role in JP2. They can't really isolate a specific dinosaur away from the island, because it's then less about dinosaurs (plural) and more about (a) Dinosaur, which I can't imagine would have the same draw.

Who wins that fight?

I bet they just roar at each other, like how a dog will bark at a cat it sees behind a window. :o

So that last scene of that teaser seems like it could be a final shot of the movie. Or the Mosasaur in the ocean. Please prove me wrong Universal.

Could be a whole montage of a lot of the Dinosaurs out in the real world towards the end for sure.

I hope it doesn't take the whole movie for dinosaurs to get loose off the island.
