Justice League Justice League Box Office Prediction - Part 2

If WB released the ultimate cut of BvS at theaters it would've been financial ruin. It's rated R and three hours, slash showtimes and a portion of your audience casually. Hence why they chopped it down, to salvage their gross.
The Ultimate Cut is simply longer. It is more coherent, but that is about it really. Its just the same mess, longer.

I'm talking about the box office of BvS and MOS. Snyder still made money for WB, even if critics were out for him.

BVS and MOS both were box office disappointments. Even if you reject critic reviews, audience rejected them as well. The fact that BVS tumbled after first weekend and now JL is struggling on box office show that.

What makes you think Affleck's production deal is done

All the future films that he's directing or in talks to direct are outside of WB. Add in the fact that he's been wishy washy about Batman for more than a year, LBN losing 100M for WB, his personal issues taking effecting his work, rumors of Reeves getting rid of him for another actor etc.. I don't think he wants to see WB and vice versa, right now.

I think some DC fans think that it’s so cool to have a dark and R rated DC movie, as opposed to the “kiddie” Marvel movies, that they failed to realize that they’re the only ones who would pay to see it in the theatre.

It's not that. It's that if you're going to go the adults only route. You need to make a movie that makes sense to adults and follow the same guidelines of mature film making--and a solid/coherent Story Line is one of them.

Can you imagine A Few Good Men or Interview with a Vampire as just a visual spectacle? It wouldn't work...

Snyder couldn't find that balance so he went all spectacle thinking the rules wouldn't apply to him. Sadly he guessed wrong.

$300m domestically is a pipedream at this point.

Say hi to $250m or even lower.

After more backing for those terrible OW estimates it really is looking bad.

An adult movie that resolves its main event by the two meatheads becoming besties after finding out their mommies have the same name.

If Pixar had a scene like that, my niece would say it's kiddy.

M Knight was great for a couple of films and then every subsequent film just kept getting worse leading up to The Happening. That might be the worst film I've EVER seen. :funny:

What's everyone having a pop at me for ? I make a few shorts and a feature, couple of docu's and people want me gone.... :cwink:

Maybe Logan won't end up bringing up the rear in this year's superhero movie race after all.

This movie could now be outgrossed worldwide by Deadpool.

I’ll let that one sink in for you all.

Law of diminishing returns finally kicking in.

And it's sequel already has a better marketing campaign.

Yeah. Deadpool only really got away with its R rating due to the brilliant marketing campaign, the love the internet has for the character, it actually NEEDING an R Rating to be done right, and just how good the word of mouth for the movie turned out to be.

A movie with SUPERMAN featured as a main character not only doesn't need an R Rating, it actually hinders the character and goes against the tone most would think a Superman movie should have.

I really don’t want to know what the drop-off is going to look like next week. Since it’s opening so low, I can’t imagine it being too bad though.

A Pixar movie is opening next week. It's going to eat into it.

I'm just never going to be afraid of grass mate. :woot:

Is there any chance it's not outgrossed by Deadpool? Didn't Deadpool make more than BvS? And I get the feeling this has no chance of making BvS numbers.

It's going to be absolutely murdered by Deadpool domestically.

Variety now reporting just 95 million OW.

Chickens. Roost.

That’s true. This thing might be dying a slow, painful death before TLJ comes along to put it out of its misery.

God this is such a bummer. I didn't even hate the movie but this just makes me sad for the brand. Especially since all of the pieces for something awesome were all there in terms of actors. If they had just pushed it back, got someone competent in the drivers seat and put out a killer movie we would be having a totally different discussion now.
