After reading the JL: Mortal script overview again today, I honestly liked it a lot. In fact, with a new cast and a few changes here and there, it could be a really good origin JL film. It features all the original seven and showcases them in really great ways. It also tells a very engaging story without wasting time with explaining each character's origin, most of them already know each other. While I would love lead in movies with Wonder Woman and Flash, WB and DC are playing catch up right now and after the great disappointment that was Green Lantern in 2011, not only will we might not get lead in films first, we honestly don't need them. Mortal actually did a great job handling the lesser known characters to the ga like Aquaman and Martian Manhunter while showcasing icons like Superman, Batman and especially Wonder Woman. I honestly think that with a better cast, this film would not have gotten all the hate from the fanboy community that it did.

Hehe. Now I've read it and I would be alright with it. My main reason is the line up. I love Martian Manhunter and I don't want Cyborg before him. Also I'm a John Stewart guy.

The script was good. I wouldn't mind it.

I didn't like the final battle (sans Flash's sacrifice). I thought it was too all-over-the-place. They also need to tone Wonder Woman down a little and do away with the mind control. Other than that, I suppose it wasn't half bad. It might even tie in a bit with Superman vs. Batman coming around beforehand.

I honestly believe the lackluster casting is what ruined what should have been great excitement for an epic film. If the studio had gone for a more mature cast instead of almost all unknown 20 something's, we would have gotten a Justice League movie back in 2007/8, regardless of the whole tax situation. My dream cast for back then would have been:

Brandon Routh as Superman( he was already cast and he was one of the things SR got right.)

Jim Caviezel as Batman

Kate Beckinsale as Wonder Woman

Luke Goss as Aquaman

Ben Mckenzie as Flash(Barry Allen)

Common as Green Lantern/John Stewart( because that was a great idea!)

Dennis Haysbert as Martian Manhunter

Timothy Olyphant as Maxwell Lord

Eva Green as Talia Al Ghul

Sophia Bush as Iris Allen

Are you guys just talking about the synopsis from back then or was there something that leaked more recently?
