Kanye finally snapped!

How many punches? How hard? How about some kicks? Can we use elbows?

How much pain has to be administered before her lost "honor" is restored?

That's the thing though,in other cultures, honor is a really big thing. Especially if it involves member of your family etc.

I'm Asian. From where i come from, you can't just walk away if someone insulted a member of your family like that.

My sister married to a Morrocan guy. And in their culture, family honor is a huge deal too. If you insulted their wives the way this kid insulted Kim?...expect war.

In other corners of the world,or with certain people, this kid would've ended with something A LOT worse than just a couple of bruises

The fact that other cultures attack others over honor doesn't make it any less stupid, though. Kanye is rich man who was insulted by some teenaged nobody. He should've shrugged the insult off, so that he and Kim could return to their mansion and roll around in more money than this punk will ever see in his life.

This is true.

Picture of the kid. He looks like he has a punchable face.

And? There are other cultures where stealing gets your hands cut off. I think I'll take the civilized society, thanks.

All these posts, not one answered my question if the ethnicities were different if it would still be justified.

It depends on history between the two ethnicity or races.

For example, the Chinese have a very tumultuous history with the Japanese, so if a Japanese man called a Chinese person a name that put down their entire ethnicity then you would expect there to be quite a bit of fallout.

But if a Mexican called an Chinese person a slur, while offensive it wouldn't carry the same weight because Mexicans as a people haven't raped/slaughtered/subjugated the Chinese like the Japanese have.

I disagree. To me it's all just words spewed by an ignorant fool. It has no affect on your life unless you let it, or until the line is crossed into a physical confrontation.

Words only have the power over you if you allow them to. Otherwise they are completely harmless, like a fart in the wind.

And yet none of those who would be involved were even born when those atrocities happened. So we're still perpetuating stuff that happened nearly a century ago or longer in some cases.

I don't like Kanye, I think he's a complete wanker but the kid deserved it

But the problem is even if the kid did it for the publicity, claim or fame the fact that so,e reports are saying Kanye drove to the place to find the kid. That makes the attack planned and any decent lawyer will have a field day with a guy who have been charged with assault before

Some people need a wake up call.

Somebody can mock you and call your loved ones terrible names but you can sleep well at night knowing eventually that person will reap what the sow.

Some times karma works in mysterious ways and other times it's a prompt and swift kick in the jaw.

That's another thing though. In their culture, defending your family's honor IS civilised thing to do. Family honor may seems like a silly , trivial thing to us, but who are we to judge?

To others, your country's gun culture seems stupid, but i'm sure the right to bear arms is a serious matter to some of you, just like family honor is a VERY serious matter to some of us.

I guess i'm just reacting to some of the posts that seems to think that those of us who kinda agreed with Kanye on this matter does so because of macho posturing or something like that.

Why? Why is someone saying something horrible to you such a big deal? Why do you feel the need to "defend your/her honor," or whatever?

So, you defend your honor, by kicking the ass of an honor-less scumbag. What did you just prove?

Seems more like being dragged down to their level than defending anyone's honor.

Because if you allow others to disrespect you in person then you must not have any respect for yourself.

Because if you allow others to disrespect you in person then you must not have any respect for yourself.

That is the most ridiculous thing I've heard yet.

I have enough self respect and sense to not be so easily manipulated and dragged down to someone else's level and be made to look a fool right along with them.

It's called being a responsible adult.

Violence is not civilized regardless of culture. The very act of violence is the opposite of civillized. Its not the peoples fault tho if thats their culture. Culture evolves over a long time and gets engrained. Cant be helped sometimes.

And the idea that a person doesnt respect themselves if they allow others to disrespect them smacks of pride. I respect myself enough to not stoop to their hateful ignorant shortsighted behavior by use of fisticuffs. Id rather just ignore the stupid person and walk away.

He's a kid..... Legal adult or not, 18 to me is a kid. Deserving and receiving ate two completely different things too. The kid got what he deserved in a beating and now Kanye deserves jail time for said beating.

Yup, some things cannot be easily brushed over.

Maybe people in the future will take notice and realize that things they do will have ramifications far beyond their lifetime.

Imagine if 9-11 physically injured millions of white Americans and lasted over 200 years and treated them like second class citizens an additional 100 years? How long until America pretends it never happened if Jihadists still mock/insult them generations later?

Heck, many Southerners are still salty about the civil war and reconstruction and that lasted how long and was how many years ago?

Blacks were nothing more than cattle until the 1860's and second class citizens until the late 1960's but we're supposed to pretend it didn't matter and just smile when someone uses the N-word.

This is another point I didn't really address. So, for those who have to "defend your honor," or "teach this kid a lesson." The only lesson you're going to teach him is that getting someone to assault you is worth the attention(and possible lawsuit) he was seeking.

This kid has nothing to lose, but I(and most adults, and certainly Kanye)do. This kid isn't going to stop being a racist *****e, in fact it will probably make him even worse. Because now he can say, "SEE!, LOOK! they really are like that!!!" Not that he would be right at all, but nothing he says matters.

If I assault some kid who was obviously trolling me, the only lesson that is going to be taught will be taught to me at my own expense. I would learn that it would cost me a great deal more(financially, time-wise) to "teach a lesson" to some kid who is never going to learn that lesson, than just ignoring ridiculous nonsense.

I bet if it was the bigger guy in the picture on the left, Kanye would have just yelled at him, or come back with bodyguards.

Yup

The bigot got a beat down for disrespecting someone and Kanye will face criminal charges for expressing his wrath.

Both faced repercussions for their actions.

But people should know, you can still get a butt whooping for talking trash. Not everyone is scared of going to jail.

Yet you can sit there and call someone another racial slur (there are no shortage of them) and if that person came over and beat you over it there wouldn't be cheering them on, there would be boos for their overreaction and lack of restraint against you for calling them that word.

My point was just because he used that word doesn't mean Kanye should be cheered for beating the kid up. And just because something that happened with our ancestors occured doesn't justify such harsh retaliation.

But then there's always picking and choosing when it's "okay" to use generational discrimination against others. That's my problem with those kinds of defenses. Because it only reinforces that hatred. Responding to hateful language with hateful actions isn't going to help anything.

Using that kind of logic, the Jews have the ultimate one-up on everyone else, followed by the Gypsies.

Nah, if the black dude looks scary enough this kid will think twice about spouting the N-word.

If he didn't know those were fighting words, he knows now.

That's the difference between real life and the internet/xbox live where every other 14 year old uses the N-word every 5 minutes because they know the blacks can't find them and they're anonymous.

I don't feel it was that harsh.

He punched the guy a bunch of times, he didn't slit his throat.

as I said before, in situations where young whites can use the N-word anonymously they do so NON-STOP. The only thing stopping them fromdoing it in person non-stop is a potential butt whooping.
