Yea I've just been waiting for the moment when Walt looks at Mike and is all "So what are you thinking about this New 52 crap?" Mike would be all like "Some of it has been pretty good but most of it has just been stupid blah blah...." Then Ming chimes in "Awww come on, these characters are so old they need their origin stories retold for the newer generation! Plus, Justice League has been better than it has in years." Then Walt and Mike just sit there all wide eyed and flabbergasted before Walt just goes on some tirade lol. It works so perfectly in my mind lol

That is incredibly accurate.

I think the half hour format of this show sucks. I'm not liking it be so short with so many commercials.

This thread is dedicated to the AMC reality series called Comic Book Men. The show is set at Kevin Smith's comic book shop called Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash. Season 1 featured 6 hour long episodes, but it is currently running on its second season, and 8 out of 16 episodes have aired, each a half hour in length.

It stars:

  • Kevin Smith: Owner of the comic shop
  • Walt Flanagan: Store Manager
  • Mike Zapcic: Comic Book encyclopedia
  • Bryan Johnson: Smith's friend, doesn't work at Secret Stash
  • Technical Expert

Unfortunately, reception has not been that great for the series. It currently holds a 55 out of 100 on metacritic, but I feel it is due to the fact that the show is geared towards a very specific audience. If you are not into comic books, then you probably won't be interested in the show. Sadly, I don't think it is going to last.

Here is a preview of what the stash looks like:

Could you somehow merge the threads, or at least take the poll I created and use it for that threat you showed me?

Glad they moving it to Thursday, not thrill it being on 11:30 pm on Sunday

Same. I actually haven't been watching it on television, only netflix. Just found out about the show at NYCC 2012, so I haven't seen any season 2 episodes yet.

My opinion is that I love Tell 'em Steve Dave and I think it's a shame they're doing such a mediocre show. A reality show no less.

I'm someone who HATES reality shows and have come to love Comic Book Men. Maybe I'm biased because I'm a comic book fan/collector, but I can see why others would hate it.

Is there any word of a DVD/Blu-Ray release?

The only thing I hate about this show is the exact same thing that I hate about all dealers of sports/movie/comic memorabilia. That when you bring in something to sell them they ask a very low price for it,but then turn around and sell it for 3-4 times as much as they paid. I HATE that. I mean,I understand they have to make a profit, but some of the turnaround prices are absurd.
But that's just a tiny thing I dislike about watching the show. It doesn't get in my way of liking and wanting to watch it. Oh,there is one other thing I hate...the show is too short. It's needs to be a hour long,I think.

well crap, new season starts tonight...at midnight

Solid premiere last night. I can't believe Lou Ferrigno is in that kind of shape at 61. I laughed heartily at Kevin Smith saying he wanted to do a training session on the show, but he didn't want to exercise personally. :woot:

crap, on midnight again? why they have to air it so late?

I don't know about anyone else, but this show has been in the boring, tiresome and tedious stage for me this season... I think it's time for Kevin and Co. to give it a rest, already...

You've disliked each of the episode so far? :o

I read that Kev himself said he wouldnt be shocked or overly upset if it was cancelled, not because he hates the show, but is just happy his friends and himself got to make a show that aired for this many seasons.

I enjoy the show. I may be biased because im an avid TESD listener, but regardless its cool to see a comic book based reality show. Much rather watch this than Pawn Stars.

On the opposite side of the coin, it's specifically because I AM a TESD listener that I don't really like the show. It's sort of like TESD, except neutered and censored.

Agreed, the guys charm sorta is dampened with having to abide to censorship. But, how cool is it to see the guys visually wail on Ming?

TESD is also my MAIN podcast I can't wait for to download and THIS is the exact word I've used to describe Comic Book Men to my friends.

And I know it's obviously staged but I hate that they try to pull it off as "reality" tv. Like when the guys were "afraid" to go into the batcave owners house, yet when they opened the door the camera crew was already inside to film them walking in. Same with their entrance into the batcave with a crew already in there

I'm not a fan of the show, but I am a fan of the TESD guys getting paid TV money for what is basically Pawn Stars-lite. Not to even mention the hay Quinn is raking in with Impractical Jokers.

Impractical Jokers is hilarious and those guys are hysterical, bette than the other reality garbage.

I'm kind of in the loop but what it TESD?

Anybody see this weeks episode with George Perez? I find it funny how the Stash guys all seem to mispronounce his last name not knowing whether the accent falls on the first 'E' or second 'E' of Perez.

But it was cool seeng a master artist at work at the table doing the Wonder Man drawing for Mike.
