*** Killzone 2 Review Thread ***

There's nothing fishy about it. Official 360 users buy a PS3, start buying Official Playstation Magazine under the same company, more money for the company.

Jesus people. This isn't about the console wars, its about the magazine company itself making money from both magazines.

Heck the old Official Playstation Magazine had ads for Xbox games in it

Before i forget, here is the 1st ok review:http://www.cgreviews.com/
Yes, it´s a blog with only one page, yes it talks about installation, when there seems to be none (did they changed their minds?), but there is actually a link to a GTA4 review, and from what i´ve read in some forums, it was one of the first reviews for GTA and it got it right.
So....believe what you want.

They give it a 9.7/10 the second time....

And they've said for quite sometime that KZ2 would be completely free of install

Integrity?
What does have to do with anything.
Integrity would be if someone asked them what they thought of the game, not because they, out of the blue, thought it would be nice to hype it
It´s a 360 blog, it is there to talk about the 360, not the hype the competition, that´s the part that doesn´t make sense.
Integrity in this context has to do with the idea that he is capable of hyping something truly worthy of hype devoid of their bias.

Not really.
The main thing that's impressive are the animations which feel extremely cohesive.

not really?!?

are you the person in question? Have you played the game?

The boxes have already been ticked.

...now you're just not making any sense.

lets try this again:

this looks cool...

...wish they would give the player that ability though.

Ok, i´m sold.
I was going to get it anyway when i buy a PS3 (June or July), so, good to hear is actually a great game.
I´m still speechless how Guerrilla has done it, but great
Now the question that remains is, what will Microsoft to try to take away some of the thunder.
My guess, maybe the annoucement of a big exclusives (Alan Wake would do it) or the first gameplay of ODST.
My bet goes to the second...

Are you only ever going to be happy when everyone in the world puts "Apart from Crysis" in their posts in regards to Killzone 2? :p

Well, I was just saying, in the website you posted they gave the game a 9.7 the second time around, which is kind of weird.

If KZ2 really lives up to the hype, which I still have serious doubts about, I doubt either of those will 'steal' the thunder since most likely we won't be seeing those games until much later in the year (Or, at all, in the case of Alan Wake).

Killzone 2 uses normal mapping and environment bump mapping

Stalker: Clear Sky uses "Parallax Occlusion Mapping" wich creates a more convincing 3d surfice by by displacing tiny amounts of geometry at various heights, kinda like a cave with ice hanging from it, this gives a greater sence of illusion as from any angle it's still convincing, along with this, it casts shadow so the surface as light would if it hit the hanging ice reacting reacting lighting better making it feel more unified. This is "a step forward" environment bump mapping is actully a "step back" Killzone 2 uses "deferred shading" but that's not new and it's not the first game to use it.

Cuda-enabled (not PPU) PhysX is step forward, killzone 2 does not use this, it's a step back

Higher resolution texture's, killzone 2 is a step back

Ed: Final build

Better facial animation, killzone 2 is a step back.

I hope that makes sence.

That's a 2 year old KZ2 video you've got there Kezm the game looks a loooot better than that now.

Not disagreeing with you, just saying is all.

Heh, I didn't even notice that, but it does. I was more perplexed by the fact that it is essentially two different reviews. I know the note above says that they got a second review build, but it's still

Gamepro gave it a 5/5, too. Well, that's the first non-Sony well known review I've heard of thus far.

If this ends up being that good, I'll be quite impressed indeed, despite my pessimistic skepticism

How can you be skeptical at this point?

Every review is a rave.
