Killzone 2 showing straight after MS E3 Keynote, July 10th

If you've got a PS3 handy, I highly recommend downloading the KZ2 trailer from Playstation Store. It's so friggin' pretty!

I did and I completely agree, purely the best way to experience Killzone 2 goodness

Downloading it right now along with like 12 other videos.

Anyone have a quick link to an HD trailer?

It doesn't look as good as RE4 did, IMO. The mechanics seemed kinda off, most notably the collision detection, it looked delayed.

Killzone 2 looks good, but not "OMG THAT IS THE BEST GAME I'VE EVER SEEN!" good.

so much hype for that....

bleh...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

first person shooter overload... just let the masters do it....lol

Funny because that footage had sequences that were seen in the HD Trailer and they looked great there, not the fault of Killzone that it's a lower quality video. That being said I don't think the sequences are enough to really judge the AI, but it did seem slowish, could be for play through purposes we'll see when we get more footage.

Concept art. I hope we get more then the stormy environment though, chances are we will. The propaganda blaring on speakers was pretty cool.

PERSONALLY I THOUGHT KILLZONE 2 LOOKED INCREDIBLE:eek: AND VERY CLOSE TO THE TARGET VIDEO WE SAW IN 2005!!!:up: I KNOW I KNOW IT STILL NEEDS SOME WORK AND YOU'RE RIGHT, BUT I STILL THINK THEY DID ONE HECK OF A JOB TO GET IT SO CLOSE AND I LIKE GIVING CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE!!!:o THE ANIMATIONS AND THE WHOLE ATMOSPHERE WAS VERY WELL DONE AS WAS THE SOUND AND LIGHTING, I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO IT!!!:D:up:

Hopefully they give us a full playthrough video before the end of E3 or beta information

I just realized I shouldn't worry about the environments since the opening sky shot was all pretty like. :p

The Heavy Armored guy is basically a walking tank so he's not going to be phased by bullets unless you hit him in the head progressively and the only way to take him down in the power pack on his back. I wouldn't expect him to react quickly.

Speedballlives is just insane, clearly. :cmad:

It looks good, but there are some rational concerns/criticisms that have been raised by reviewers of the clip:

/Alot of the progressive darkness and grittiness is usually used as a mask for meh textures and to keep from having to waste alot of energy on the details of the environments. The darker and grittier the world, the less resources needed on heavy details and color palletes.

Hopefully Killzone 2 doesn't go the way of it's predecessor and have a 4-color pallete. And the A.I. could swing either way since you didn't really get much of an impression from that video./

I hope they don't color filter overlay it to death I agree.

The textures aren't anything bad, I mean they're right around the level of like Splinter Cell Conviction tbh, an odd thing to note it that the deck of the dropship looked sharper until it went into the store clouds, they might have some extra filtering over the textures for that environment, but either way I think they're clearly prioritizing lighting, animation, and well lighting, to make their visuals and with everything happening on screen, I don't think the trade off is a bad one as long as the whole game isn't like that opening level (that would get old fast). Textures won't be a strength of Killzone, lighting, detail, and animation will be.

The Killzone 2 HD vid is the best quality, the colors really pop, despuite the overall darkness and drab coloring.

They aren't exactly hiding detail either, there's a ton of scene complexity.

But anyway the reason the audio doesn't match up is because they filmed the wrong screen darn it, so there's actually a complete gameplay sequence that has yet to be properly shown.

Killzone has a first person cover system, you can blind fire and use objects for cover, the Helghast were shown doing the very same thing in the Trailer, but we don't have any extensive footage of it in action.

And that's why thiis game'll be great imo. Killzone 1 may have had bad features such as sucky A.I., but it was the first game to ever make me feel like I was there, thanks to cluncky movements etc. And now this cover-system only adds to that, cause you won't be able to magically see over walls etc, you won't know where to shoot straight off.

I like the 3rd person cover system, but I think this could be better.

The 2005 E3 trailer had too much blue in the clouds, the new trailer they fixed that.

The propaganda blaring on speakers was pretty cool.
I really liked this element in the gameplay video. It was really nice to hear it ringing in the background in amongst the mayhem.

Weird, the section in the air on the pre-rendered looks better than the game play, but when they're on the ground, I think the game play looks miles better.

On a side note and off topic, Assasins Creed is already getting bad press.

That guy is a complete ******. The E3 demo is clearly a work in progress and the so called 'problems' he highlighted are nothing more than bugs and glitches that a couple months if tweaking and fine tuning wouldn't fix. I mean, this is the same team that made Sands of Time for crying out loud - animation and collision detection problems should be the last thing anyone should worry about from this game.

Oh and on-topic - the Killzone trailer was...underwhelming, to say the least. Seems like the franchise will continue to uphold its tradition for overhyping and under-delivering. It's really a mixed bag - there are moments that look good enough to warrant your attention, while in other shots in the trailer it appears downright ugly and unimpressive. It's a shame that a multiplatform title like Call of Duty 4 might very well likely turn out to be the better shooter (both technically and substantially speaking) available for the PS3 when all is said and done.

I AGREE, I NOTICED THAT TOO, WHEN THEY ARE ON THE AIR SHIP, THE ORIGINAL LOOKS A BIT BETTER, BUT ONCE THEY'RE ON THE GROUND THE NEW ONE JUST LOOKS INCREDIBLE AND IN MY OPINION OUTDOES THE ORIGINAL!!!:up:
