Kingsman: The Secret Service

X-Men: First Class (by miles) - (9.5)

Kingsman - (8.8)
Kick Ass - (8.7)
Stardust - (8.2)
Layer Cake (8.0)

Vaughn is one of the few directors where I enjoy all of his movies.

This was super fun. I don't remember having this much fun watching a movie in a long time. The actors were all great and the action was awesome. Firth and Jackson were great. Egerton was charming and likable as the lead and Sofia Boutella was awesome in her role. Hope to see those two in more stuff . I felt bad for the girl playing Roxy though. Poor girl barely got to do anything. I wonder if her role would have been larger if Emma Watson had played her like it was originally reported.

And if they make a sequel, I hope Vaughn comes back. Love all his movies so far .

I haven't seen Layer Cake... but First Class/Stardust/Kingsman - I loved those three! So his track record is quite good!

Saw this last week (for free) and didn't care for it at all.

Saw this last friday. Kingsman was like Retro Bond on speed!
Valentine was one of the most entertaining villains ever! :applaud

Taron Egerton is next up in September as Tom Hardy's boyfriend in the gangster drama Legend about the Kray twins, and playing Olympic ski jumper Eddie the Eagle next year. Might be someone to keep an eye on.

$276m WW, $107m of that in the US. Turning out to be extremely profitable. :drl:

I was ready to be so pissed off if Kingsman wasn't successful, luckily it is. Sure in my world it would have hit 200+ million here in the states but I'm happy with the reality.

I will definitely be watching out for Taron's upcoming projects Schlosser.

I'd love to see a zany SPECTRE type organization, an anti-Kingsmen. That's assuming it gets a sequel, which would be great, but I feel like the movie is great enough on its own.

Finally saw this last night.

It was a huge amount of fun. Light-hearted (although ridiculously violent), tongue in cheek, action-packed. Matthew Vaughan is probably my favourite director going, his track record is amazing (although I haven't seen Layer Cake).

8/10.

Thanks to Kingsman's success we might be getting Nemesis soon!

So basically another crappy Millar comic that will be turned into a much better film by more talented people then?

I dont like most of Millar's work, but his recent Starlight and Jupiter's Legacy have been top notch IMO.

Oh he CAN be good when he's not trying to come off as "cool" or "edgy" or "adult." Because ultimately it usually comes across as shallow, crass, and gratuitous.

Gonna check this out with my girlfriend today after a buddy of mine gave it a rave review. She will probably think it's boring/weird, but then again she thinks everything on shaw on demand is boring, lol.

Fun movie. Very colorful. Thought the *** hole line and *** hole ending was out of no where and pointless. Only frat guys, teenagers with parental taboos, and guys who don't get any intimacy cheered. Felt bad for Firth's character. B+.

So looking forward to what Vaughn is doing next, this movie was ridiculous fun! I literally had no interest in this when it was announced.

I liked this a lot, but not as much as Vaughn's previous films such as Kick-Ass or First Class. I really liked Colin Firth in this, and it was refreshing to see Mark Strong playing one of the good guys for once.

Just got back from seeing this. So much fun and oh so good. It was such a treat seeing Colin Firth as this bad ass secret agent. The Church scene was awesome. I hated how it all played out right afterwards, but it definitely kept me on my toes with the twists and turns.

Taron Egerton really had a breakthrough performance here. I'm looking forward to what he does next.
